Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. We loved staying at Myra's cabin. Comfy beds, clean, good shower, and responsive host. There is a spiral staircase that took us a bit to get used to, but we all did, kids included. Great location between Cleveland & DC.

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Laurel Rock LLC # 2

What a sweet couple and adorable area they are creating! There is a hotdog stand, with an outdoor patio, where you pick up your key. Then, you climb a gravel hill to your place. We had Cabin #1 which was decorated with cactuses. It was warm and cozy with lots of space inside. We got settled in nicely and ventured off to Tygart Lake State Park. Thank You for a nice welcome and a cute place to stay for the night.

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

We absolutely loved staying in the Fernhouse!! It was perfect. It was adorable and so cozy. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was wonderful! So close to hiking trails and lots of outdoor recreation. The hike around the property was beautiful and our dogs loved walking it with us in the morning. The outdoor area is super cozy too. Virgil was so kind and welcoming. We will be back again in another season!! I would highly recommend.

Truly a magical place for exploration and relaxation. we stayed in CB1- it has 4 beds. No light or electricity but you know that beforehand. LOTS to do and quite a bit of amenities- a coffee pavilion that has outlets for charging, an abundance of firewood ($12.50 for an entire wheelbarrow full of wood), port-a-potties with toilet paper, air fresheners, sanitation wipes, and hand sanitizer. Friendly management. Breathtaking views.

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

This was my 3d stay at the Fern house. Virgil goes above and beyond, the little house is very comfy and well appointed, and it’s so great to have a mile long trail right at your doorstep for early morning and evening walks! Virgil even left biscuits for my dog ❤️ I think of this place as a home away from home.

Rented both cabins with another family and had a wonderful time. The hosts were incredibly communicative and helpful, cabins were just as advertised and the location was private. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a private getaway with more amenities than a tent but still at a reasonable price

Absolutely stunning location! Not just beautiful, but so quiet and serene. The cabin was fantastic!! Perfect for getting away from everything without having to set up a tent. Having cows randomly walk into the camp area was an unexpected treat that won’t soon be forgotten 😍

1 night at Bear Run Farms

This is such a beautiful gem of a spot. Secluded but for the cows. Watching the mist above the water at sunrise is really beautiful. The fall leaves are just starting to change too. The cabin is a perfect size and so cozy. Stocked with plenty of essentials and the bed was super comfy. Thank you warmly 😊🍁🐄

The lake feed by an underground spring is just amazing. Clear beautiful water. The cows on this farm have freedom to roam and are friendly. The cabin was clean and well maintained.
