Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

I had a great stay here! The hosts greeted me with a sweet birthday bag, which was such a thoughtful touch. The yurt itself was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities you could need, including cooking pans and utensils. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. Check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and they even included directions to the yurt, which made everything seamless. Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Mountain Magnolia Forest Farm

Not being from around here, not familiar with W. Virginia, I didn't know what to expect as I drove Hwy 60 to their campsite. I drove past a lot of poor and sketchy looking places and was worried the campsite would be on property like those. I was very relieved that it is NOT! It was pleasant and quiet minus the cars of the neighbors driving by very close. But that didn't go on long and not late at night. The bathroom is unique for sure, but very doable and a bit of a hike. I decided not to navigate to it in the middle of the night, so I drank very little water before bed. But in the daytime it's a prettier walk than to the state campgrounds' bathrooms. I was very pleasantly surprised by the addition of a wooden picnic table that wasn't in the photos. That made cooking a whole lot easier for me! And the little creek added the blessed sound of gently flowing water. It was also just a few minutes' drive away from the Northern New River Gorge Park. For my first time solo camping and sleeping in my car, this was a good place to begin. Thank you to the hosts!

Primitive tent camping at some of its best! Views and an experience well worth the price. Be sure to bring a vehicle that can tackle some steep gravel roads, our front wheel drive SUV had a little trouble but we were able to get up to the second highest camping spot (momentum is your friend!)

My fiance and I (along with our two dogs) booked the Yurt for our of stay while we explored the beautiful mountains of WV after a fresh coat of snow. We had booked our stay during the middle of a significant winter storm and delayed our drive. We messages Shawn and Catherine and they were very quick to respond back to us while we figured out our travel plans. They even started the pellet stove so that we could get some much needed warmth in the well-beyond zero temperatures outside. Our Yurt was very well maintained and came with all the necessities for our stay. We enjoyed the Roku TV they have set up so you can cozy up in bed or on the pull-out futon. We also got to have the experience of going out to our hot tub while the wind chill was in the negatives! Check out was very easy and Shawn and Catherine gave use plenty of instruction for our check in and check out. Overall, I think this may have been one of our best “camping” experiences. This was our first time staying in a Yurt as we typically stay in a dome. The pellet stove was an absolute necessity and we had more than enough fuel to fight the cold. Beautiful place with great views of the farm fields and mountains beyond. We were there on a terribly windy late Fall day (we were right at the top of the mountain) so we are looking forward to coming back in the Spring when we can enjoy being outside more and roaming the farm.

Awesome little place even if it's snowing. Snow on the ground and the little rocket stove was great because we had no heat in the vehicle! Beautiful stream and the bathroom facilities are always a bonus even if outdoors. Everything was clean and inviting. The host was very responsive and had lots of ready to burn wood for sale.

So calming and a good place to sleep! We were just spending the night but would be a great place to spend a weekend. Sweet cats greet you, also ducks and chickens. Fridge, microwave, and coffee pot available. Enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet inside. Great little diner down the road! Just be advised there is no signal there or the surrounding area. The wifi works well for the TV but not great for cellphones.

2 nights at Mountain Magnolia Forest Farm

I think this site is as-described in the listing! It’s a convenient location to several of the national park trailheads. The outhouse is cute and clean - you just take the trail that goes over the bridge and up the stone steps and you’ll find it (the tp is in the plastic tubs - I missed it at first!). I camped in my car just because the site is in a little rural neighborhood and directly across from a house - it seemed nice and safe, but as a single woman camper with my dog, I just felt more comfortable in a locked car. The only thing I’d change is maybe the fire pit walls being a little higher - it’s pretty low to the ground and I was worried about the sparks!

April and Carl are the kindest most accommodating hosts we have ever had! The campsite view was absolutely stunning and the proximity to downtown Lewisburg, Fayetteville and New River Gorge made it the perfect camping spot. If you’re looking to avoid crowds and cramped camp sites we definitely recommend this location!
