The property, aptly named the Oasis years ago, is 34-acres of lawns, shade trees, ponds, and natural landscaping over 50 years in the making. The landscaping was started by Tom who still lives in the farmhouse. The Schierman family has owned this property for four generations. The Oasis is located in the rolling hills of the Palouse in eastern Washington State.
The newly created Yonder Hills Disc Golf Course is a full 18 and 9-basket short course with long and short pads for almost every basket. A mix of open lawn, wooded fairways, water hazards, and elevation changes await. Day, overnight or weekly reservations must be made to enjoy this private course.
The disc golf course is under construction with some layout changes and getting ready for paver tees instead of rubber. It's playable but it isn't perfect yet. We had to shift focus to the barn restoration grant to meet the June 2026 deadline, so fair warning, there is likely to be some construction ongoing.
This is a perfect basecamp to explore the Palouse countryside. Relax in the shade. Catch up on creativity. Cook around the fire. Disc golf anytime.
Guests may bring their own private fire pits. Firewood is provided for the community fire pit.
Yonder Hills can be reserved for larger group camps and private camping events. There is plenty of room for several vehicles and tailgate camping.

There are no dedicated electrical hookups, sewage hookups, or potable water available at this time. Bottled or bulk water is available in in St. John five miles away. Electrical outlets can be used to charge small devices.

St. John has a bar/restaurant, grocery store, hardware stores, gas station, 2 hotel rooms, library, coffee and gift shops as well as a very nice 9-hole traditional golf course. There are numerous small towns, unique lakes, rivers/creeks, backroads, viewpoints, and historic stops around the Palouse region as well as amazing photography year round. Come for the abundant stars, the fall colors and brisk air, to socialize with other travelers, or to find the peace of the Palouse country.

Starting SEPTEMBER 23RD until OCTOBER 31ST every weekday we host hundreds of school kids on the farm. They start arriving around 9:00 am. If the sound of children's laughter drives you absolutely insane, you might think twice about booking a stay with us in the fall.

Early spring is the extreme mud season, please be cautious of our soft ground and stick to the roads.

Quail run was a peaceful place to stay the night. We booked day of to tent camp with three little kids and enjoyed that the only sounds at night were the occasional car and train in the distance. We heard turkeys, doves and song birds during the day.
There were plenty of spots to pitch a tent, a picnic table, trash can and hose. There was some shade as the sun started to go down. I would recommend bringing a shade tent and we brought our own luggable loo as we knew there would be no toilet.
There’s a nice playground and sports complex less than a mile away to the northwest.
We recommend for an easily accessible spot not too far from recreation areas outside Spokane!

This is a small(by MT standards) working cattle ranch that also keeps some chickens. Be prepared to be surrounded by curious cows and awakened by the rooster. We also had a bull expressing its frustration at not being allowed in to service the cows(yet). Views are beautiful. Site was easier to level RV at than looked like it would be- not an issue at all. . Feet of you and your pets get muddy in the wet sawdust and hay. That are more prevalent than green grass in boondock area, at least in mid April. We have a Keystone Cougar 25 FKD travel trailer and a 1 ton Denali. We wouldn’t advise anything much bigger going down the curved driveway to the boondocks sites, but the full hook up sites are on pavement, level and do not involve any curved road. On the plus side there is an extraordinarily friendly cat, cute week old calves, and whole place reminded us of where we lived for 20 years before moving into town. Our corgi enjoyed the cat and the cows even though we were careful to not allow him under any fences. Barbara was friendly and communicated quickly and pleasantly. There is good potable water easily available. We didn’t try the farm fresh eggs because 2 different people at home had brought us some in exchange for extra strawberry plants I was giving away. There are only 2 of us and we don’t eat as much as we used to now that we are 75 and 81 years old. We were only boondockers there April 20.

Cute place! Adam was great. We loved the trees and how quiet it is at night. A few minutes drive to fish lake as Adam suggested and walked along part of the walking path. I have an RV and parked next to the garage for 50 amp service. I loved it here. Listening to the cows and chickens, even the rooster in the morning. The view is amazing and the host was very kind!
