Welcome to the base of the beautiful Selkirk mountains, we’re nestled in between the beautiful lake resort town of Sandpoint ID and the picturesque resort area know at priest lake. Our property was originally homesteaded back before Idaho was a state by a trapper who fell in love with this lush little valley in the mountains. Once Idaho did become a state, the officials decided to keep the land surrounding this little oasis making it completely surrounded by thousands of acres of state endowment land usable to the public. There are three full time creeks that run though the property along with a few beaver made ponds and one large man made swimming pond. The site boasts hundreds of campsites ranging from dry RV parking to small tents on rock ledges overlooking the lush valley. Expect to see deer, elk, moose, turkey and a few other wild animals roaming the land around you. We have the space for event camping as well, we have a large covered gazebo for shaded group meals. Furthermore there is also a band stand for ceremonies and live music on select dates. We’re only 12 miles from town but you get that feeling of being out of the rush of the outside world.

This cozy, partially screened guest hut is situated on 200 sweeping acres of pastureland and steep, rolling hillsides. Floor to ceiling windows on the west side allow for a gorgeous view of the mountains and the lovely night sky. Enjoy the view, hike, bike, horseback ride, relax by the creek, swim the Columbia or Kettle River and fish Elbow Lake. Hut is 100% off grid Iron Mountain Ranch features the owner's hand built straw bale house which is run off solar power, a friendly herd of horses along with a few cats and three dogs. (look up the ranch social media accounts online for additional pictures). Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch. ***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.*** In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be. Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses. Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods,  tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper. Weekend Trip to Prater mountain ranch

I had a peaceful and quiet time at this lovely property. I booked for the weekend and ended up being the only one there. Will was a great host and checked in on me daily. My dog and I had a wonderful time. We chilled in the morning, had a swim in the lovely pond, a nice walk and a nap then sat by the fire in the evening. Couldn't be better. Highly recommend and looking forward to going to one of the music festivals the owners hold there!!! Thank you so much.

Weekend Trip to Hymas Family Farm Stay

We loved our stay at the farm! The tent was private in the woods and we came up to the farm’s shop for fresh ice cream and fresh eggs and also paid extra to help milk a cow haha our daughter loved the cows! The zipper didn’t work on the tent but otherwise everything was so lovely. We used the cook stove and they had some cook supplies in there too which was super nice. Would definitely recommend , I always wanted to try out glamping and the whole family had a lot of fun with it.

This was further out than we expected, but it was great. The pond looked a little murky but was actually very cool and with such hot temps we were thankful for it. Large space (field) to choose where you want to camp. Or dogs loved to run and we appreciated not needing to keep them leashed. But that because we were the only ones there. It would be different if there were more campers around.

What a way to escape reality for a bit! The land was beautiful and quiet. Directions were clear and concise! The Outhouses were clean and maintained well and bonus wood was provided, just be prepared to cut it (: we personally didn’t swim in the pond, but it was really well maintained. It would be an amazing spot for Early- Mid fall! We didn’t use them, but grills and were there if you bring propane. Overall a beautiful experience, would be fun to do a big family group trip or retreat here!

Weekend Trip to Bearcat acres

Fantastic spot for tent camping! Our site was a beautiful little glen, surrounded by trees, with a babbling brook running at the edge. The ground is flat and mostly level, so it worked well for our 10 person tent. Because of Red Flag conditions, we didn't get to use it, but Warner had a fire pit and wood already at the site. There was a large cable spindle that functioned as a good size table. The site has a little trail that leads back into the woods for a relaxing hike if you want. Warner provides an indoor bathroom and potable water from an artesian well, just yards from the "entrance" to our site. There was even a super friendly cat that would stroll through to say 'Hi' once in awhile. It was a fantastically beautiful and relaxing place to spend a long weekend.

We chose William’s family’s land as our weekend getaway with littles because it offered so many things-wide open space to run and play, pond to swim and cool off, sandy beach, shaded area with lots of great hammock trees. We were so spoiled because we had the WHOLE place to ourselves all weekend so the privacy was unmatched! We met some of the hosts as we were arriving and they were so kind and hospitable-encouraging us to make ourselves at home and giving us a lay of the land! Then we met William on the last day as we were packing up and he was awesome as well-giving us some history on the land and his family as well as inviting us back out for live music! This place really is a gem, we had no problems hauling our 28’ travel trailer and navigating the roads, the instructions were clear and easy to follow! Only a 10-15 minute drive into priest river. We would definitely bring our little family back here! Thanks for having us!

Very much wooded and private as deer roamed by, deep woods vibe with the convience of a hardware store, gas station and grocery store close by. The bay to swim is a 7 minute drive and a stunning beach. Amazing view of the stars and kind hosting. I'll be back

25 ft travel trailer. It was so beautiful, peaceful and comfortable. It was easy to find and not far from town but had the feeling you were far from town. Backing in was a bit of a challenge but we overcame it quickly. We are already trying to figure out another trip.

Camping beside the fruit trees and grape vines was magical. The hosts are a lively couple who have put their heart and soul into their property. Time beside the river was nice and cool during the heat of the day. Expect to be self contained if you are camping.

Our campsite was nestled in the cedars, near a little stream.

We loved our 4 nights at Taylor's Knoll. She is a very welcoming host and the site was perfect, exactly as described and quiet. Located only 5-10 minutes from Hill's Resort and Luby Bay campground, it was easy for us to spend time at the lake. Highly recommended!

6 nights at Prater mountain ranch

I love this land!! It was the perfect site for my 5-day summer retreat! William and his parents are so wonderful and checked in occasionally to make sure we had what we needed to make this event successful! Not just during the retreat, but before and after. The swimming pond was essential on hot days, and the water was cool, clean and refreshing! The land fit my event like a glove and all my participants were in heaven. Camping under the trees provided good shade and the open areas provided room for games. I can't wait to do this again next year!

The day we showed up to camp was the same day there were level 3 fire evacuations. The site was magical until then. Fearful we left at night and slept in our car the next town over. During the day when winds were down we enjoyed the spot thoroughly.

Weekend Trip to China Bend Winery Estate

We had a wonderful time camping at the winery, we were able to tent camp right on the water and got to have it all to ourselves. The winery manager Alan was so helpful and made the trip that much better. It was a great 3 days of relaxing, reading and exploring, we will definitely be going back
