What a cute place! We needed off grid and we got it. One thing I recommend if you're over 30 is to bring extra padding for the bed - They are thin which does not work for my old hips LOL - otherwise the place was great and we will go back. Grounds were awesome, my pups could run around with no issues, there are trails all over, wild life, etc.

This is a magical spot - my teen daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The weather was a tad damp, which hindered our exploring a bit of the property and gardens, but the accommodations were really comfortable and the small touches and details very appreciated. Outdoor seating under cover was really lovely in the morning and the kitchen is well appointed with basics (coffee!! Thank you!!) The property was quiet with only occasional street noise and lots of bird activity to watch. Strawberries were in full fruit and so delicious. Really enjoyed talking with Dave - great hosts. This is a gem. Thank you for the memories!

Weekend Trip to Grace E.’s Mini Forest Cabins

The cabin was cozy, clean and warm. We slept great. We came on our bikes. Grace and Brian were fantastic hosts - hospitable, generous and kind. They provided us with a place to charge our batteries and Brian took us up to our cabin and drove us back to the trailhead in his truck. He built three small cabins there with battery lanterns, fire pits, tables and a very clean outhouse.

The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

We sure do hope we are doing her right! our plan? to leave as much untouched as possible. The property is made up of over 5 acres and is heavily treed with Grand Firs, large Western Red Cedar, Big Leaf Maple, Alder, Doug Fir, and many other native shrubs including edible berries such as huckleberry, salal berry, salmon berry. Micologists (mushroom hunters) are sure to find the treasure they seek growing fruitfully in these forests. Come forest bathe (literally) in our private charcoal fired soaking tubs. Self serve wooden tubs powered via flame come to temp in 2-3 hrs with proper tending. Camp 9Mile-Marrowstone is an off grid nature experience. Neighbors live symbiotically with the land, many are without electricity or city water as guests will experience as well. Stop by our seasonal farmstand located along driveway in the. Forgot something? we got you! Firewood, Charcoal, Butane, Propane, S'mores Kits, 9 Mile Merch etc all on offer inside a '71 VW BUS, Cruise by the "town" of Nordland which proudly boasts the iconic Nordland General Store, a definite nostalgic fun stop. If you have time park and take a stroll down the dock. Shower a day person? Fort Flaggler is your place (5 min. drive up the island-North) has full service public restrooms, complete with showers (bring some quarters) and flushing toilets, a wonderful trail system worth exploring and not a bad view of the straits including Port Townsend. If Laundry is something you find yourself needing, Port Hadlock has a fine one, situated next door to the QFC market. Throw in a load and head across the street to the "Valley Tav" for the best veggie burgers around! no joke.

You'll find a fully stocked kitchen, a stove and refrigerator/freezer, toaster, kettle and French press coffee. Extra additions such as an Instant Pot, small blender, and popcorn maker are also available. Duvall is my personal favorite and is 20 minutes away to enjoy boutique shops, breweries, lunch spots, great dinner restaurants, ice cream, and a Safeway. 2. Monroe has everything you would need including restaurants, shops, hardware stores, pet stores, antique stores, and grocery stores. 3. Sultan is on the way to Stevens Pass ski resort and is much smaller but has a great bakery! Nearby activities include hiking, skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding. All the spots that I would recommend visiting can be found in the Welcome Guide upon your arrival. Important things to know: - Staying in this home means you are staying within nature. Deer are regularly around the property, or can be seen in the woods during your drive up. Please be respectful to them. There has been the occasional bear sighting, so please be aware. There is bear spray in the property, but I have only seen a bear twice and have been able to scare it away with a tap on the window! My space is surrounded by woods and forest, and though I treat the exterior to keep out pests, there are all sorts of creatures great and small, including insects and mice, which unfortunately can be a reality of nature for all the homes up on the hill. Please take into consideration that my home may not be a right fit for those who are extremely phobic of these and other wildlife, but for others, it can bring enjoyment. Please take a look at my house rules to familiarize yourself with the do's and dont's, especially if you will be using this space for a larger entertainment gathering. I love my home and I am so glad you may choose Pentoria Lodge as a place to retreat. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Guest access There is enough space for 3 cars to park at the top of the driveway and next to the log cabin. Any other cars can fit down by the yoga studio and garage, but please note, the driveway is not for the faint of heart - it is steep! During the winter months you will need a 4-wheel drive to make it to the top of the driveway. When it gets icy, it is not recommend to drive the driveway, but parking at the bottom and walking up through the pasture is what I do to get home! There is an electronic lockbox for your convenience that will let you into the house with a special code that I will email to you once the property is booked and you are confirmed to be arriving. Your GPS may take you a slightly different route. I will email instructions on the easiest way to the lodge. There will also be signs to 'Pentoria Lodge' to follow for easier directions. Other things to note There are deer, squirrels, rabbits, owls, and other critters that may roam the property as the log home is surrounded by forest and is home to many creatures great and small. Some of the tiny ones may get into the house from time to time. Refunds cannot be granted because of a spider, fly, wasp, mouse, or any woodland critter. I strive to keep the property as thoroughly clean as possible with monthly pest control to mitigate the chances of seeing any creatures in the property and appreciate your full understanding should an insect or critter make a small appearance. Should this happen, please reach out to me asap and I will do anything I can to take care of it and to make your stay a 5 Star experience!

Thirsty Creek Farm has been a 10 year project to create unique places to camp and stay with full appreciation of the beautiful mountain setting. We are on a five acre wooded parcel at the top of the Stillaguamish River Valley (near Darrington). The North Cascades National Park is just 40 miles away, but there are great places to hike, rivers and waterfalls to see so much closer (some within walking distance). It is about a 15 minute walk to a good swimming hole in the "Stilly" river. Originally built for us, the tiny cabin is now available for rent. We lived in this Cabin for 5 months while we were building a house on the property. The bed is a queen size memory foam mattress, with seasonally appropriate bedding. We provide a mini fridge inside for your perishables. Bring a cooler if you need more space. We have 2 propane cooktops, one outside and one in the pantry. There are electric lights and enough power to charge your electronic devices. There is an outdoor kitchen for washing up and a rainwater outdoor faucet. The toilet is a flushable camp toilet. The Tiny Cabin is our premier off-grid accommodation. With full views of Whitehorse mountain and a limited amount of solar electric power the small cabin is the perfect cozy getaway for 2. For families we can add a cot or 2 for a total occupancy of 4 (but very tight). Extra guests are $10/night per guest. If you want to make it a group, there's plenty of space to put a tent adjacent to the Cabin, and even a space to park a small camper/Van. Additional parties are $40/night. Maximum People on site is 6. Winter campers: In Winter we do not have water (due to freezing), but we supply you with 5 gallons of potable water in a jug. For heat, we are insulated and we can provide a small electric heater to keep the chill off. The woodstove is more than adequate to keep the place warm and we do have wood on hand. Summer Campers: Once we turn the water on in spring the cabin has heated rainwater for showers and for washing dishes. We also have a cold water rain shower outside.

Established through the vision of Howard Miller, a dedicated Skagit County Commissioner for 16 years, the park was officially dedicated on December 2, 1982. The initial 15-acre land purchase included 39 campsites equipped with electrical hookups for RVs, tent sites, a picnic shelter, and restroom facilities, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. The land for Howard Miller Steelhead Park was acquired from Burlington Northern Railroad, Seattle City Light, and private sources, with an additional 88 acres added in 1989 from Summit Timber Co. This expansion further enhanced the park's appeal, providing visitors with ample space to explore and enjoy nature.
