We are a short 11 minute drive to the North Cascades National Park! During the winter (typically end of November/early December through April/May) part of Highway 20 and driving access to the park is closed. You are still able to get to our dome using Highway 20 as that part is open all year round, but you are unable to access the park. You are able to drive to the entrance, park and snow shoe in if you'd like.
The part of Highway 20 that is closed is on the west side at milepost 134 at the Ross Dam Trailhead and on the east side, at milepost 171 at the Silver Star Gate, near Mazama.
An alternative hiking destination for the winter months is the Rockport State Park which is only a 4 minute drive from the dome. You are able to purchase a day pass on your phone once you arrive.

Weekend Trip to Sundara West
This may be the best place we've stayed at. Jackie is an incredibly thoughtful host with excellent communication. The tent was clean and absolutely perfect. I was very pleased that she used non toxic products. The property is beautiful, the hot tub beside our tent was amazing, the pool was super cool and we had everything we needed for the best stay. She even shared s'mores kits with us for the fire. Jackie really thought of everything!!
This is definitely a hidden gem! Will be booking again super soon! This time we will bring the kids. :)

2 nights at N. Cascades Glamping w/ Hot-tub
This is a beautiful spot and a great base for visiting the national park! The indoor and outdoor amenities were great - we appreciated the snacks, ample resources for cooking, and many options for getting warm (2 electric heaters, hot tub, wood fire stove, and outdoor fire pit). You can see the small road from the dome and hear a bit of highway noise, so it's not fully isolated, but that also makes it quick to get back onto the road to head to the trailhead (it took us about 1 hour to get to the Maple Pass Loop). We also checked out the Barr Creek conservation area about 0.25 miles up the road, which has a very pretty little loop trail.

Weekend Trip to Sundara West
I had the pleasure of staying in the glamping tent with my husband for our honeymoon. Our experience was everything we wished for and more. The tent was a perfect mix of cozy and romantic, with a king sized bed, heated mattress pads, and a gas fireplace. The tent is situated on a deck with a beautiful set up in front for sipping coffee in the morning or wine in the evenings. The gas grill made it easy to prepare a hot breakfast. The most exceptional touches were the private hot tub and shower behind the tent, and of course, the pool house which provided a tropical oasis in the quiet countryside. There were other guests staying in the cottage but we were able to smoothly coordinate pool times with Jackie so we could enjoy our vacation in solitude. Last but not least, our host, Jackie, was absolutely wonderful and one of the most responsive hosts I’ve worked with. It’s clear to see how much care and detail she puts into making each stay perfect. Like other reviewers have mentioned, Sundara West is now top of the list of places I will gladly return to.

Weekend Trip to Sundara West
Celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary in the Glamping tent. The property is beautiful with lovely well-tended gardens and the tent is private and peaceful. Our host, Jackie, was responsive and gracious. There is a pool here inside a solarium adjacent to the tent that is just fantastic. We were able to reserve private time slots so had the pool to ourselves as much as we wanted. Out the back of the tent is a private outdoor shower and a hot tub. We enjoyed our little getaway so much and definitely plan to return. Thank you Jackie for sharing your camp with us!

We enjoyed our stay so much! Jackie was a responsive and caring hostess. Our accomodation was perfect. This is the first time we've stayed in a glamping tent. The bed was super comfortable and a heated blanket underneath made our nights really cozy and warm. We loved the hot tub out the back of our tent and wonderful hot outdoor shower. Also enjoyed using the private pool. We definitely plan to return. Thank you Jackie for making our anniversary weekend so special.

Hands down my favorite Hipcamp yet! Gorgeous location, top notch amenities (outdoor cooking area, shower, toilet, fire pit, hot tub + dreamy dome), and a very responsive and supportive host. Note: my partner and I are scent sensitive (fragrances make us sick) and this place was scent free minus what I’m assuming is cedar from the wood used to build - no chemical scents or fragrances! *we brought our own soap and dish soap so I can’t speak to what was in the meyers cleaning bottles (usually *very* fragranced).

3 nights at N. Cascades Glamping w/ Hot-tub
We had a great time glamping for the first time at Sheila's dome! Loved the personal note and bottle of wine from Sheila upon our arrival and how responsive she was for any of our questions. The place is super unique and has everything you could ask for: electricity, wifi, appliances, propane grill, hot tub, HOT water for showering, clean toilet (compost), wood for the wood burning furnace, and space heaters. If you forget any groceries, Red Apple is about 15 minutes away by car. It got chilly at night but there was plenty of blankets and we turned on the space heater for warmth. During our stay, we explored Rockport State Park, Barr Creek conservation area, Diablo Lake, and the North Cascades Visitor Center. We highly recommend staying here!

This is our third trip to LIsa's farm! Can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful farm setting, convenient to Lynden, Everson, Ferndale, and Demming (this time were there to enjoy the Demming Log Show). Immaculately maintained facilities and gracious hosts as always!

With pets
A great location near lots of activities on Whidbey. You're five minutes from Deception Pass and 15 minutes from Oak Harbor. The water/sewer/power were easy to reach, the site was level and has a nice view of the secluded property. The fresh eggs were delicious!
Our trailer is 26' and I wouldn't want to try entering the property with anything much longer. The road to the property is a single lane with scrubs encroaching so it's not possible to turn wide to clear a telephone pole. I cleared with less than a foot to spare.

Weekend Trip to West Beach Resort
I love when wonderful sites are found and unexpected! We hadn’t researched the place because we like the surprise - lovely property, clean and safe. Great jump off point for hiking and exploring the island. Wonderful staff and gorgeous views at sunset! We already want to go back and bring the family and kayaks too!

Weekend Trip to N. Cascades Glamping w/ Hot-tub
We stayed at the glamping spot for a weekend, and absolutely loved it. The location is very private, and surrounded by trees making is very cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter was soft kept us warm during the night. The place is well stocked with blankets, utensils, spices, slippers and bathroom necessities. The host even left us some snacks, smores kit and a bottle of wine and a hand written note welcoming us, which was so very kind and generous. The space heaters came in handy when we didn’t want to use the wood fire.
The outdoor grill and gas stove were clean as well, and easy to use. The fridge is small, but it is sufficient for 3-4 day trip. The hot tub was clean, and the outdoor shower next to it helped rinse off before and after hot tub. The outhouse/toilet was clean as well, and its about -10 ft from the tent. The outdoor grill and hot tub are covered with umbrellas so you dont get wet if it rains.
There are a couple of restaurants, a coffee shop and a convenience store 10 min drive from the unit if you don’t want to cook yourself. It is close enough to North Cascades national park, and we drove to Lake Diablo which was magical!

This place truly was the highlight of our little getaway to the North Cascades. The dome was such a fun magical experience and the hosts go out of their way to make sure the space reflects that. Amenities are endless, it is quiet and serene with so much to do in the nearby area. We did a lot of cooking in the space and with multiple options like the grill, stovetop burner, mini fridge, and fire pit… the opportunities are endless! We would go again in a heartbeat! You will have a great time ❤️

Location was very easy to find and instructions were all very clear. Lots of great trails and parks near by. Dome was secure and warm throughout the night. Plenty of space for two and we liked having appliances. Hot tub was a nice touch. Loved that we were allowed to bring our pup.

We thoroughly enjoyed our glamping experience!! It’s hard to find pet friendly spaces so that’s always a plus for us!! Sheila was very responsive with anything that arose. Perfectly remote, but close enough if you forget anything. We LOVED getting to jot down the road and be in the cascades! Beautiful greenery, cozy bed, nice amenities!
