Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. Weekend Trip to Coffee Creek Community & Gardens
My sweetie and I had an amazing time staying here! We needed a quick, relaxing weekend away from Seattle and the Coffee Creek farm and hosts absolutely delivered. My favorite thing was the very cozy loft bed, watching the light pouring in the windows through the trees. It’s a working farm, so there was activity happening nearby, but the cabin felt very private and calm. It was well-stocked with everything we needed to make meals in the cabin, a very efficient wood stove to keep us warm, and full of charm. The nighttime hot tub was lovely, piping hot and surrounded by a chorus of owls, coyotes (at a far distance), and frogs. Mokey was an excellent host - communicative, generous, and welcoming. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat.

We loved staying at Cedar River Cabin! Very comfortable for 2 adults and 3 kids. Everything was as expected plus more. Trail nearby, plenty of wildlife, whimsy, and beautiful scenery made us feel full of gratitude. Highly recommend!

Perfect little cabin. Quaint by cozy. Would stay again but one thing to note is there is hot water showers listed, however it only lasted for about 1 minute. Not a problem if you stay during the warm summer months, but during the chilly fall months it’s worth knowing

We absolutely loved our stay here! My fiancé and I stayed after he proposed to me at the park, and it was the perfect private and beautiful place to celebrate such a special moment.
We wanted to camp and have an off-the-grid experience, and this stay gave us exactly the peaceful, secluded feel we were looking for while still being incredibly comfortable. The hosts were amazing, kind and welcoming, and made the whole experience even better.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our engagement. I highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway!

Had a really restful and restorative weekend in this little cabin! Dawson was super chill, got a couple things in need of fixing done quick, and was very respectful about privacy. The sauna was great and a really nice add-on since it was an extremely rainy weekend. The cabin smelled like fresh wood (love!) and everything was functional, but not perfect or precious, which is where the real relaxation happens for me. It was an easy, low-barrier destination for a solo trip where all I really wanted was deep decompression within four cozy walls, and it definitely delivered!

Had a great stay! After camping in Olympic NP, we stayed three nights before heading straight to Mt. Rainier SP. We ended up staying and enjoying the place more than expected, since we're usually constantly on the go exploring. It was a great experience, and we would love to come back.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay here! Absolutely gorgeous property. Host was very communicative and provided great directions, even recommended local spots to check out during our visit. The space was insanely stocked I was so surprised! Everything down to a can opener (came in clutch for dinner lol). Clean space, super quiet and private which is so surprising considering how close downtown is. My partner and I are both POC and get nervous staying in rural areas, but this space was so friendly and welcoming that we didn’t even feel the need to lock the door once during our stay. Lots of awesome wildlife around too! If you’re looking for a lovely getaway with easy access to town, 11/10 recommend this space. Thank you Mokey!!

This forest retreat was adorable! Cedar River has everything you need to have a good time from string lights to the trail nearby. Site felt secluded with plenty of us to set up tents alongside the cabin. We especially loved the bonus experience of live music and food up at the main house for the Forest Session with Kurt Lindsay. Definitely worth it.

The land is beautiful and they have everything you could need! I packed way too much! Brittany really takes care of her guests. My dogs loved the property too! As the property manager and host for The Legacy Basecamp, I wanted to experience the space firsthand and it truly delivered. While I manage the bookings and guest experience rather than stewarding this incredible land long-term, staying here gave me a full appreciation for what makes this spot so special.
There is plenty of open space for the family to run around, play, and unwind. One of our favorite details was hearing the faint whistle of the train passing in the distance,it adds such a classic, peaceful touch to the woods. The large covered outdoor space was a lifesaver for escaping the midday heat, and it will clearly be the ultimate cozy refuge once the fall and winter rains set in.
Between the fully equipped indoor kitchen and the versatile outdoor cooking setups, meal prep was effortless with tons of options. After full days outside, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and everything we needed was right at hand. We left feeling completely refreshed.
