The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast. We built our totally off grid home on these 80 acres in the early 2000s. We are surrounded on all sides by either Washington State or US Forest Service land and we have no neighbors for miles. And yet, we are only about 25 minutes from the towns in the Methow and Okanogan Valleys. Our solar powered home is built on a high bluff. We have several acres on the lower part of the property that surround a couple of old cabins (we do not rent out the cabins). We have a water system that allows us to irrigate this land from a nearby creek. This water is not potable but it is great at keeping the grass and vegetation green all through our dry summers! This is the area that we are making available to Hipcampers.At one time, this property was a sort of way station for travelers crossing the old arduous Loup Loup Pass, before the highway was built to easily connect the Okanogan to the Methow Valley. Old timers tell us there was a dance hall and a good saloon up here and we have found some evidence to back up that story.Aside from the occasional highway noise, it is very quiet here. There is virtually no outdoor lighting for miles, so stargazing is excellent on clear nights.Although we can't promise sightings, what we have seen here through the years are deer, moose, elk, black bear, bobcat, coyote, owls, eagles, hawks and all sorts of migratory birds. And of course squirrels and chipmunks. Our well is powered by solar panels and batteries, the outhouse is a biogas system which has a hand pump for flush, and utilizes human waste to produce methane and fertilizer. The methane is then plumbed to a single burner in our kitchenette and can be used for cooking or boiling water when enough methane is present! Booking this hipcamp is supporting sustainable living and development! :D If you like nature, there are many features for you. From hiking to biking, off road access, hunting, or wildlife viewing, Derby Canyon offers it all. Enjoy a day in Leavenworth, the Wenatchee River, mountain bike trail, or a hike in the mountains. Though most of the area does not receive cell phone service (I have Verizon) we do get service at this site. Located about 5 miles off the county road, cell service will fall off for the first 4 miles, however most people will have service at the site itself. Please PRINT or DOWNLOAD the directions I will email you for OFFLINE use! For now we are offering this site as a private escape campsite to enjoy the depths of nature in a serene setting. Wood fires are not allowed but we do have a propane firepit available for use free of charge - bring your own propane!

Trail run, hike, Mountain Bike, lake swim, or just sit, meditate, and read a book on the cedar dock watching the sun sets. Nirvana is available in winter with certain requirements. Please message before booking to get a list of the requirements for winter months October 20th to April 1st. I had been searching for over 2 years for a property where I could make a difference in the environment and live in the wilderness. I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote. In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing. I was shocked because this was the perfect property. In my 2 years of searching I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the property. It had a private lake with fish. A solar cabin with a flush toilet and hot shower. The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast. It was beautifully treed with just the right amount of open meadow and forest with Hemlock, Ponderosa pine, and Larch. How could this property be sold? I tried to let it go but thought about it for the next year. After a year and a half had passed and my search continued I came across an advertisement for this magical property, it was up for sale again. I called the real estate agent immediately and found that an offer had been made but the buyers could not commit for 5 more months. I made an offer that day not really knowing how I was going to pull off the money. I knew this property was meant for me. I wrote the owner a letter explaining that I was a land steward and that this land would never be developed. I would be putting it in a land trust where no developers could put up condos. The owner happened to be a environmentally focused human and he ended up selling to me. Come to find out when I had first saw the property sold a year and a half before, that transaction had fallen through. The owner had just taken it off the market for the winter. You will absolutely love the magic of Nirvana Gardens. The quiet, the wild animals, the crystal clear lake, clean air, and relaxing healing atmosphere of the ultimate nature bath.
