You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. This land has passed through many families but was first "managed" by Salish Indians who burned the prairie and harvested native plants for food, medicine, clothing, charms and more for 10,000 years. When European settlers arrived in the 1850s, burning the prairie all but ceased and that, along with the introduction of many new exotic species of animals, crop plants and weeds, began the degradation of the landscape. Over time our site was used to graze sheep and then raise pheasants (from 1944-1999). It was slated for housing development but several citizens rose up and prevented that from happening. Beth was very accommodating for a very last minute reservation for a family of 5 with a dog. The yurt was spacious & spotless… cleaner than many hotels we’ve stayed at. A great intro to camping for our city kids... and their parents who haven’t camped in over a decade! Flush toilets and access to a hot shower were very nice to have. Very peaceful setting & the bullfrogs sang us to sleep. We look forward to another stay in the future.

Weekend Trip to Clear Light Valley Retreat

DeAnn's land is better than expected. Definently need a AWD to get back out and it is worth it. We can't speak on the bell tent because we didn't sleep in it. Instead, we rolled out our cots and spent the two nights sleeping under the stars. The creek on her property is really cool. It is like the childhood creek that most people wish they grew up with. It even has a lightly speckled mushroom log laying just in front of a small waterfall that you can climb on for a picture. Oh, and you can swim into the waterfall and get behind it for another picture, AND THEN, look at the hidden waterfall behind the waterfall! We would definitely sleep under those stars again. If you have kids that want to just run and explore but you are always afraid they will get into stuff they shouldn't, have no fear here. Let them off the lease and run wild.

Weekend Trip to Clear Light Valley Retreat

Such an amazing spot, view AND amazing host! She was so sweet and patient as well went with all 3 of our kids (2 toddlers and an infant) loaded up all our stuff and drove us to the site at the point our car wouldn't make it past since it was a 2wd. We even forgot butter for dinner (grilled cheeses, no oil or mayo either) and she gave us butter❤️ sweetest lady ever! And my infant slept through the night for the first time, meaning I did too. Rain was hitting the tent through the night, no leaking, no bugs, no spider webs, clean double bed provided and lots of cushions for if you got kids for them to just sleep on the ground. I put a blanket over the cushions and it was very cozy. If you didnt notice, I said it was cozy, not the kids. Aka the kids took the bed from my husband and I and we slept on the ground instead hahaha.

We had a great time at the large tent site. The tent was large and comfortable, DeAnn had drinking water, firewood, and a grill for over the campfire all ready and available for our use. Our kids loved playing in the creek, and it was a fun adventure to walk down there. DeAnn made sure we had everything we needed and was easy to communicate with. We would definitely return!

Weekend Trip to The Landing At Lake Ploenta

My husband and I had an amazing time in our little “Fern Gully” and would highly recommend it. It was so fun fishing off the shore and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. Everything was very thoughtfully put together and the attention to detail really stood out. The bedding was really comfortable and the tent had such a homey feel. We will absolutely be back and could not recommend it enough.

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm

We had a great stay in the cabin. Very secluded. Cool trails. Cabin is a little rustic just fyi for those people who aren't into that kind of thing. We loved it, though. Great firepit area, outhouse was fine, and there were plenty of spots to pitch tents as well. Dave was very helpful and the property was only a few miles from any amenities you may need.

3 nights at Clear Light Valley Retreat

It was just perfect. Far enough from home to feel like a real getaway. DeAnn’s land was beautiful, felt like we pulled off of a fire service road somewhere in the cascades. Our three kids loved the freedom they had and we enjoyed the comfort of knowing everyone is safe. We took the trail down to the creek towards the back of the property and spent an entire day there. You can just tell that the land is loved and the owner wants to share that with everyone. Will be returning! If I had to comment on one thing, it’d be nice to pitch our own tent. However, the set up canvas tent that DeAnne had was roomy and much more comfier than what we use. It also drizzled on the last day, so it was pretty nice not having to pack up a wet tent and having to dry it when we got home.

Weekend Trip to Wild Hearts on Whidbey

Very fun getaway spot within easy driving distance of Langley and other Whidbey attractions. The Glasshouse was cute and the bed was cozy. It was fun listening to the chickens and horses through the windows. The kitchen had most of the basics we needed (plates, cutlery, cast iron pan) but bring your own coffee mugs if you plan on hot beverages.
