Located in rustic Bells Crossroads, VA three miles from I-64, Billyville is a work in progress featuring 2 tent and 4 RV sites with electric hookup and lots of space. Wifi, well water from a hose and composting outhouse facilities are available. Other amenities include a six hole disc golf course, little free library.
Within one hour’s ride is a wealth of things to do, experience and see; within reach are the Shenandoah mountains, the University of Virginia and Charlottesville and Lake Anna . There is something for everyone from children to seniors, from outdoor adventurers, to history buffs, arts and entertainment seekers, bargain shoppers and local gourmet food and drink lovers.
At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky.
Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions:
Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out.
Anyway, to get to Billyville:
Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.

If you’re down for a little history (and maybe a little mystery) Cedarville State Forest will definitely dazzle. The 3,510 acre forest was once the winter camping ground of the Piscataway Tribe because of the mild climate and abundance of game. Legend claims that there is a Native American burial ground within the forest... but it has yet to be found. Spooky! Equestrian, family and youth group campsites are available for your overnight stay. 19.5 miles of horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking trails weave through the forest. They pass a number of historical features, including the loblolly pine plantations that were planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, by a charcoal kiln, and through farm areas whose springs and streams were used to make moonshine!

Large, very private spot. Lots of well kept trails to explore around the camp. My dog really enjoyed our walkabouts. The site was clean and well maintained. Grass covered the entire camp area which would make it totally fine even if the weather turned rainy. You can hear the highway and train but they were not bothersome at all. I would/will stay here again.

this spot is spotless and perfectly tucked away, you’ll feel like you’ve got the whole place to yourself. A few peaceful trails wind through the area, ideal for quiet walks or morning coffee strolls. If you don’t mind the occasional train rolling by, it actually adds to the charm — great spot to kick back by the fire and enjoy the view.

I had an enjoyable 1-night stay here on my way further south. The campsite is private and tucked away from the property owners’ home. My low to the ground, 2WD minivan handled the mostly flat gravel road just fine and the field was easily drivable.
There is regular noise from a nearby road and a pretty consistently passing train, but neither were loud enough to wake me from my sleep and were tolerable for an overnight, passing stay. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a private location to park/camp overnight that’s still close to stores and the highway.
I arrived at dusk, following the straightforward instructions provided, navigated easily to the site, and had no need to contact the host during my stay.

I would highly recommend Billyville to other Hip campers. Our Host Billy was very quick to respond in messages from the very start. Upon arrival, we were greeted friendly and felt welcomed.
The site is very quiet. We really enjoyed the serenity of an evening fire under the starlit sky.
Billy had got our fire ready to light. All we had to do was light it. Very nice.
The entrance is down a one lane road. Well maintained. Very easy to navigate. We have a 31 foot 5th wheel (13’ high), and had no problems getting in. Billy met us and guided us into our spot. It is a big pull thru.
The site is grassy. Not muddy. Easy to level. Set up with a fire ring, a picnic table, and two Adirondack chairs. There is a 30 amp plug. We have 2 dogs. And was surprised to hear Billy had just finished creating a dog run.
On the property is the Bandshell. Where Billy puts on concerts with other talented musicians. So it being Labor Day weekend, we got to enjoy a concert.
If you’re looking for a very quiet place to stay, this is it.

We had a lovely time! Campsite was in a quiet meadow that was very well-kept. Some muscadine (?) grape vines grew there, so be mindful if your dog is a grazer like ours are. We found a few seed ticks after walking in the woods, but very par for the course. Even though their house is relatively nearby, we felt totally private.

Friendly and accommodating, was able to help with special requests.
Fire pits were prepped with kindling and (free) fire wood, all we had to do was light a match. Easy and fun.
Sites were were green grass and mostly level.
Remote feeling, yet fairly close to some great places, best Bar-B-Q ever at BBQ Exchange, close to Food Line (groceries) and Tractor Supply (propane) as well as several excellent brew pubs.
At least 3 holes of Disc golf on premeses, I don’t play but saw 3.

Billy's place is really nice. He prepped the fire ring for us and brought us even some kindling wood to start it. His land is vast and we saw gracing deer every day. Super good location. Many breweries and wineries around and place to hike as well. Billy answered quickly if we had any questions or concerns.

I’ve camped here more than anywhere! Site is very private and although you’re only a few minutes from anything you need(groceries, food) it feels like you’re in the wild! Stream is great on warm days and there’s plenty of shade and open ground! The passing trains are soothing ( no train whistles) and are far enough away to not be bothersome. Simple, clean, local at a reasonable price! Highly recommend! I’ll definitely be back myself!

I loved this quiet and secluded campsite. It was easy to get to, but there's a gravel road, so plan to go slow or bring your 4x4. I had plenty of space to pitch my 10x10 tent, and the ground was fairly level. It was raining, so I didn't get to explore, but I will be back for that soon.
