This is a rustic little spot about 15 minutes off Rt. 460 in central VA. No amenities, so bring everything you will need, but Merritt was responsive and quite hospitable. The land is privately located among a small hardwood tree grove, but has nice pond views to one side and fields on 2 other sides. Merritt and his wife are lovely people and fascinating to talk to.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was exactly what I was looking. Peace and quiet (except for the thousands of geese, but their ruckus was peaceful as well). Allyn and Duane were wonderful hosts, ensuring I had everything I needed and the privacy I desired. There was a burn ban issued two days before my arrival and they graciously supplied me with charcoal and even a little charcoal grill! The sunsets were beautiful, the night sky amazing and the eagle sightings were plentiful! Bring binoculars if you come. You'll get amazing views. All in all, a wonderful trip and I plan on coming annually for the foreseeable future. Thanks Allyn and Duane! Oh, and opt in for the outdoor shower! It was amazing and the view incredible.

What a charming and peaceful property! They have the sweetest animals and a beautiful garden. It was nice to have a restroom and shower nearby. Great spacious camp site. We really appreciated the canopy that was set up for us because the sun was hot during the day, and there was plenty of firewood available to keep us warm at night. Karen made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed, including jumper cables when one of our cars wouldn’t start. AMAZING spot for stargazing!

The campground itself is situated right on the river with a very thoughtful set of steps leading down to a beachy area. Plenty of space to set up tents and have designated areas for games, cooking, etc. The host was super welcoming and brought a load of firewood out to us to make sure we had a comfortable stay. I really enjoyed my stay at this campsite. The area was very clean and well-maintained, and the host was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. I especially loved spending time fishing — the spot is peaceful and relaxing, perfect for unwinding outdoors. The only downside was noticing that quite a few trees have been cut down since my last visit. It’s still a beautiful place, but it doesn’t feel quite as shaded or natural as before. Overall, though, it remains a great location for camping, relaxing, and enjoying nature. I’d definitely come back again.

Such a beautiful campsite! Our dog loved splashing in the river. There are paw paw trees all over the site and we were able to pick a few to try! The site host also brought us some extra watermelons which were delicious. There was another family at site 2, and it was fine but would recommend renting both sites for maximum privacy! We hope to come back very soon.

it was a pleasure to camp at the creekside cool bus! the whole experience came with ease, starting with great communication from chloe, the skoolie provided everything we needed (& more) for a cozy retreat into nature. there was plenty to explore, a gnome lined walking trail along the creek and a short drive to the state park. the campsite is isolated enough to have your own privacy but close enough to access the full bathroom. it really was the perfect place for reconnection with each other and nature.

Riverdale Farms/ Bubbas campground is a very nice, and private campsite. The entire property is well maintained and clean. It’s the kind of property everyone wants for them selves. It has private waterfront access, hundreds of acres, your kids and dogs can run around without a leash. Lol! We will definitely be back. Around lunch time Dan rode down on his four wheeler to check on us. He was nice enough to bring some watermelon and cantaloupe down for everyone. We talked for a few minutes and he was on his way. For anyone wondering about the gun range. There is a small gun range on his property. It’s probably 200-300 yards away. It’s not disturbing in anyway. You can’t see anyone, they can’t see you. They shoot in the opposite direction.
