Please check out my friend's place nearby at Callao Brewery and Rivah Vineyards at the Grove! Grab some fresh local veggies from one of the Amish stands and don't forget your tackle and bait at RW's.
Camp 1 has the most room for car camping and groups close to the road and overlooking the pond.
Camp 2 is a short hike to a private knoll overlooking the grassy marsh of Mill Creek, this is tidal water that flows to the Potomac.

The house was so cute a cozy. It is a real house with electricity, internet, TV, dvd player, and Netflix, a full kitchen, and the bathroom is right beside the upstairs bedroom. The view from the bed in the morning was a beautiful huge tree in the field. Down the hill is a very large pond. I can see a float and canoes that would be great in the summer. There is a huge pavilion beside the lake with couches, a long table, chairs, a grill, and a refrigerator. There are two outside RV toilet stalls at the lake too. When I drove in I saw horses in a field and a little donkey running around, playing in a a pen. I stopped and watched. Close to the house they have goats in a pen and they wanted me to pat them. The owner, Maria, told me I could. She also has a pig and chickens. I enjoyed the solitude but this place would be wonderful for a family outing or corporate retreat. I forgot a few things, so Maria directed me to a nearby Walmart in Tappahannock. I highly recommend a stay at Maria's farm.

My wife and I loved our stay. The host was very hospitable and very accommodating. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and shown a well detailed tour of the property. The property was very well maintained and visually appealing. We were provided a wheel barrel full of fire logs and use of wheel rim for a camp fire (10$ when booked). The views for sunset and sunrise were stunning. We had total peace and quiet during our stay. We will be back in the spring to try our hand at fishing off the dock. Perfection.

The views were stunning, the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, and we even got to leave with some fresh blue crabs from the local

The thing to take away from this is, we have started making this a regular destination. That really should be very telling. Everything about Oyster House is fantastic. Rod is an amazing host and genuinely cares. I love being able to step outside the camper and be able to wet a line, drop a crab trap, watch wildlife, enjoy amazing sunsets and unreal night skies, take a stroll, float a kayak, or a million other things. We are in love with everything about this destination.

The car camp site was spacious with a fire ring, and the walk-in site is past the first site down a path that goes along the creek. We spent 4 days at this location. The property is situated on a very beautiful point. The owner has done a very nice job of maintaining the property, with plenty of space to relax in the water or sun. I enjoyed the outside shower. My mother did not feel as comfortable as another camper, who was very close to the shower, so some sort of privacy we be very nice. The host was more than willing to help with anything we needed, and he frequently checked in the see if we needed anything. We will definitely recommend this location and will likely be back.

The best endorsement I can give is that this was a return trip. We fell in love with this place on our first visit and couldn't wait to book another! The first trip we used the camp more as a base, this time we spent more time on site and it was amazing. For a more detailed review you can check out my first one. Weekend Trip to Sleigh Hill Farm
I loved camping next to the pond! Great night sounds and morning wake up calls from the birds. The tent kept me perfectly dry during the rain and the bed was comfy. I will definitely go back!! Thanks John, you are a wonderful host!!

Roderick has a very nice property where you park right at the water’s edge. It’s really beautiful. Also, he is a great host, bringing us firewood and offering assistance if needed. He provides a 2-stall pit toilet that was very clean as well as an outdoor shower & sink with hot water. Bring a swimsuit to shower because it’s not enclosed.
We would definitely recommend Roderick’s Hipcamp sites!
