50 Acre Woods

1 site · RV, Tent50 acres · Emporia, VA
Great location only 15 min off I-95. Far enough away from the city and roads to see the stars at night, close enough for easy access to all modern conveniences. Accessible by a paved road. A path is cut right through the property for ease to find your ideal camping location. You can park your vehicle off the paved road or on the property itself. There is a creek a few hundred yards into the property that's not crossable by vehicle. A vehicle can pull onto the property via the cutout road but I wouldn’t pull an RV/vehicle with a trailer onto it.

Arrive by wheels or water and prepare yourself for delight! Once home to native tribes, Pocahontas' great grandson is buried nearby and "the spot" where Capt. John Smith was saved by Pocahontas is less than a mile away. Later, the property was deeded as Cobb's plantation and saw action as a civil war river lookout. Walthall creek is the old channel, that once carried supplies to soldiers and supported a school for the blind. Now, a quiet passage for kayaks and recreational boats it is a retreat you will certainly revisit! We are nestled on 5 acres neighbored by a 177 acre park (with thick woods and miles of trails) and a few good-hearted neighbors. Just steps away from your abode is a grand dock loaded with a tiki bar, grill, and an endless waterway! Seasonal garden veggies, herbs, eggs and lots of southern warmth await you! Bring your boat, bike, kayak, fishing rod, floaty, some delish eats and you are all set! There is even an Art studio for the creative in you!

Our skoolie is the perfect basecamp for outdoor adventures-30 minutes to Richmond and 5 minutes from the nearest trailhead at Pocahontas State Park with pass included. ——— The space Our fully functional skoolie comes equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, but please read the full description of this space and property to make sure this is the right experience for you! We would like everyone to be aware that it does get chilly inside the bus depending on the weather. While the bus is insulated, we do lose a lot of heat through the windows and floor. *Beds* Comfortable queen-sized bed in the back. The couch folds down into a bed slightly smaller than a full size mattress. We have bedding included for both beds. The bus will sleep 3 comfortably, 4 if you really like each other! *Full Kitchen* Gas stove top inside the bus (back burner knob removed for fire safety). Pots, pans, plates, bowls, utensils, storage containers, and coffee maker/french press are all included. Pantry space to store your food. RV fridge and freezer. Small kitchen sink with hot water and a 7 gallon water tank underneath the sink that you will need to empty if full. *Bathroom* Features a skylight window. While it is a fully functional bathroom, we prefer you to use the main house bathroom for all your needs. There is a Nature’s Head composting toilet, with instructions included. We ask you to use the bus bathroom for urinating only. *Main House Full Bathroom* You have access to a full bathroom, shower, and laundry in a side door of the main house. We encourage you to utilize this space. The owners of the house also use this space for laundry, but it is closed off from the rest of the house to ensure privacy. *Heating/Cooling* Portable A/C and heating unit on bus (currently being sent in for repair). A small space heater has been provided in the meantime that works well to keep the bus warm in winter. Also has a wood burning stove, with firestarters and wood for the stove included. In the winter, it could still be a bit cold on the bus so we encourage you to bring extra blankets and clothing depending on the weather. Maxxair Fan and personal fans for your use are provided. *Outdoors* Includes a deck with a small seating area, picnic table to enjoy your meals, and a portable propane grill for your use. Enjoy a campfire in the private fire ring. There is plenty of firewood to collect in the woods. Look for the gnome and follow the walking trail from the campsite to explore the creek and more of the backyard. *Electricity* While the bus has solar panels and a battery bank to be completely off-grid, it is hooked up to shore power for your convenience. Has 2 USB outlets and a standard wall outlet. Wifi is available with high downloading speeds. *Pets* All pets are welcome! Please keep in mind that there are two dogs on the property contained to the yard by an electric invisible fence. The dogs are not able to access the campsite. We ask that you keep your pup on a leash unless it is well trained and can stay in the campsite area and away from our pets. *Extra Guests* We allow a maximum of 4 guests to stay inside the bus. For a fee, you can have extra guests stay with you in a tent outside. Please let us know before booking if you will be bringing extra guests. ——— Guest access You will need to drive on grass and through the backyard to access the school bus. There is parking right next to the campsite. We will be respectful of your space and privacy, but with that being said we like to grill out and hang out on the back deck pretty often so feel free to come over and chat. ——— Other things to note The interior height of the bus is only 6 feet so please note that it could be a bit cramped for taller individuals. We will be on the property in case you have questions.

Stillbrook Farm

1 site · Tent30 acres · Chesterfield, VA
At the end of a long and winding gravel driveway, you will find the quiet oasis of Stillbrook Farm. We are located in the sleepy community of ‘Winterpock’ which located in Western Chesterfield County, VA. Winterpock is steeped in history and exudes both quiet and therapeutic energy. In the 1800’s it was the center of a thriving community fueled by the nearby Clover Hill coal mines and linked by railroad to Richmond and beyond. We are 10 minutes to Pocahontas State Park, 30 minutes to RVA, and a little over 60 minutes to Charlottesville, Stillbrook is a small horse farm, with twelve horses that you will find frolicking pastures throughout the property. Our farm is the perfect mix of fields, forest, and streams. Bordered on two sides by the Surline Branch… one of our favorite activities is wading through the broom and finding where it meets the Winterpock Creek. We have several tent sites located throughout the property depending on what you are looking for. Most are located near the creek. Camp fires are permitted inside the existing fire rings with all wood and kindling provided. We have beautiful two-story, 10-stall horse barn with a bathroom (sink/toilet), Keurig with locally sourced coffee, refrigerator, and large room over our barn in case of inclement weather. While here, you will hear owls, Whippoorwills, quail, coyotes, horses, our friendly chickens, and neighbor cows. Come, be our guest!
