Peace and quiet equals “Solitude at my farm. I’m just like you. I want to camp at a quiet place in the country where it’s plenty of acres and no houses to look at and a clean bathroom and shower. Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.

Queen-sized bed in the back and the couch bed folds to a size slightly smaller than a full mattress, with bedding included. The bus will sleep 3 comfortably, 4 if you really like each other!

Gas stove top. All kitchen utensils included. Kitchen sink with hot water and a 7 gallon jug underneath the sink that you will need to empty if full.
*Bus Bathroom
Composting toilet- for urinating only.
*Main House Full Bathroom
Full bathroom, shower, and laundry. If you are not comfortable with a 150ft walk to use the bathroom facilities, this may not be the ideal booking for you.
*Electricity
Has 2 USB outlets and a standard wall outlet. Try to charge your electronics during the day due to the solar panels, and do not use the wall outlet at night. Wifi is available.
*Heating/Cooling
A/C unit for summer. Diesel heater and wood stove for winter.
*Outdoors
Large charcoal grill (charcoal not provided). There is plenty of firewood to collect in the woods. Look for the gnomes and follow the trail from the campsite to the creek. Feel free to check out and feed our chickens!

All pets are welcome! We do have a dog who is not able to access the camp area. Keep your dog on a leash unless able to come when called.

You will need to drive on a dirt road and over small roots to access the school bus. Cars are able to access the bus without difficulty. Parking at the front of the bus.

This was such a cool skoolie! I surprised my son with an "adventure" on our way home from FL. This was a hit! Cozy. Nice land. I saw a family of 11 deer! And my little dog loved the nature walk. Nice warm bathroom at the house. Private, clean and warm.
I think we loved the little wood-burning stove the best! My son (22) slept in the bedroom which was like a quiet cocoon. I slept on the pullout couch which was way bigger than I expected and mostly comfortable. Everything was easy to use, especially with the handy "welcome" booklet. I would definitely stay again.

Best place ever! We came and had our first camping trip as a family. Marvin and his wife were extremely kind, understanding, patient and supportive. My ten year old son absolutely loved camping here at the farm and Marvin made us feel like we were at our other home. We are already planning to go back! What a dream of a trip! Weekend Trip to Creekside Cool Bus
it was a pleasure to camp at the creekside cool bus! the whole experience came with ease, starting with great communication from chloe, the skoolie provided everything we needed (& more) for a cozy retreat into nature. there was plenty to explore, a gnome lined walking trail along the creek and a short drive to the state park. the campsite is isolated enough to have your own privacy but close enough to access the full bathroom. it really was the perfect place for reconnection with each other and nature.

This is a unique place to stay with lots to do all around it. The bus was well equipped with everything you need to enjoy a peaceful quiet vacation or long weekend. Hosts were excellent and very friendly! The property and creek were fun to explore. I highly recommend this location and will definitely be returning.

First, the hosts were so warm and welcoming. The place is adorable with everything we needed to have a comfortable and quiet long weekend. Melvin even helped is get the grill rolling, and showed my husband how to roast peanuts. He sent a box home with is from his farm so we can try it ourselves. Really could not have asked for a better experience.

This is my 6th hipcamp adventure (so I feel totally qualified to do this review 😄 🤣). I camped with 3 other people and 3 dogs. We loved the spot. Because we were the only tent campers, it was very private and we got to pick which spot we set up in. We stayed in site 2 whoch was the biggest and most shaded(thankfully because it was HOTTTT). Marvin was great, called me as soon as we got there to let me know he was busy but would be by soon. His place is BEAUTIFUL 😍. Only thing I wish was different was a place to swim to cool off... but that's the only "complaint". Definitely go rest it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed 💕

Quiet area that is relaxing and enjoyable. Marvin was excellent. Very responsive and a nice guy. We were tent camping which was great but they have small cabins you can rent. I think I will try one of those next time. The area was great for dogs. I brought my three dogs and we had a blast. I definitely recommend Thornton Farms and will return later this year.
