We're Ruined for Tent-Camping
We loved Yurt 5 @ Lakeside Retreats -- it was me, my husband, our 8 year old son, and our dog. We had plenty of space in the yurt for all of us. We are used to tent-camping without power. We think the yurt has ruined us for tent-camping! We enjoyed having some access to amenities (toaster/microwave/mini fridge) + the A/C, but being remote and mostly cut-off from the outside world. However, our son loved the wifi access so that he could play on his devices while we slept in. The deck on the water with the firepit was wonderful and we spent most of our time there. We also enjoyed the boats & spent a good amount of time fishing. We are looking foward to coming back.

Peaceful but better Upkeep!
Overall, my friend and I loved staying at Yurt 1 - it was incredibly peaceful and had a great layout around the small lake. We also loved that the yurt was at the most 10 minutes away from any food or gas station. It was a beautiful area as well. The yurt had a great layout and we would go back again. But we were highly disappointed when it seemed that the bare minimum was done for cleaning. When we were there, we only saw two other campers - one in a camper and the other in one of the other yurts. Inside Yurt 1, our mini fridge was dirty and had a cigarette butt inside. The floors also appeared to not be very cleaned at all. I read that we would be provided with some plasticware but all we could find was plastic silverware so we had to go out to purchase some. Outside, there were many areas around our site, including the gazebo, and others, where there were old outdoor cushions thrown about that, were in extremely poor condition - ripped/torn, not even placed on any furniture. In the outdoor showers, there were tons of random products left like razors, toothbrushes, and dirty towels. It just seemed like there was really no upkeep of the outside area and the bare minimum was done like clean sheets and clean towels but that is about all. The outhouse was very clean though.

Won't be back
Tiny house itself was fine, although the pictures on Hipcamp are outdated (fridge is much smaller and different location than listing, there is a 3 stall bathroom right next to the house, not a tree and sitting area, coffee bar was replaced with paper cups). The layout and maintenance of the property left a lot to be desired. Trash, abandoned boats/rafts, plastic chairs, and life preservers we're all floating throughout the pond. With the new bathrooms next to the tiny house, people literally have to walk between your house and fire pit (aka your campsite) to use the restroom. There's a new yurt between the tiny house and pond, which makes it feel like you're just staring into another campsite. The frisbee golf course/trail around the pond takes you through the middle of several campsites. The stage area(?) was super run down. Could be an awesome property with better layout and upkeep.

Yay for Yurts!
Loved our yurt experience! Very clean and comfortable, well stocked with so many comforts of home. In responding to the welcome message, I mentioned I had a flat tire, the owner promptly came to the site to offer help! Highly recommend this get-away, that isn't far away!

The experience was incredible!!! Very well thought out, maintained with heart, and amazing. I will take my kayak next time because the "boats" were questionable. But lighting, space, communication, cleanliness were epic. Definitely going back!!!

Awesome accomodations
Glamping with kids is the best, never tent camping again!

Would definitely recommend!!
The yurts are so cute! Such a nice way to connect with nature while still staying warm at night. We’ll definitely be coming back and bringing friends. We had a great time fishing off our deck and taking one of the rowboats on the lake. The wifi was surprisingly good, we both had to work some while we were there and we had no issues. We’ve stayed a lot of places, and we have a few suggestions to make it even better: make the bathrooms designated to each yurt with their own code, so we can leave cosmetics in the bathroom rather than having to carry them each time, clean bathrooms before arrival, and something to cover the windows at night. Sometimes it just felt like we were in a fish bowl and we felt like we couldn’t leave the lights on after the sun went down. That being said, still a 4.5/5

Camping in style
You can tell a lot of time and care went into setting up the property for guests. The sauna was amazing! My boyfriend and I both loved the skylight in the yurt as well!

Peaceful, Comfortable, and Fun!
My family and I had the best weekend here! It was such an incredibly peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable stay, and we are already planning to go back again and bring all our neighbors with us next time! My husband loved the disc golf course, and I was so excited to be near such great bike trails! Perfect if you like the feel of camping but don't want to sleep on the ground. Perfect if you want to take a trip with a large group while giving everyone their own space. Perfect if you want to feel like you are getting away from Raleigh but only have to drive about 25 minutes away. Thanks so much for a great weekend!

Wonderful stay
We had the best time there. It was like we had our own peace of heaven. There where other campers but on other sides of the pond so you barely knew they were there. The house was fully stocked with kitchen items and supplies. It was nice and clean and the shower worked wonderful. Overall it was a great experience and you can tell that they are continuing to build more out there so we will be back again because it was such a wonderful experience.

Our stay was wonderful ❤. Just what we needed to recharge. Thank you 😊
Site 5 - Tent camping by seven acre pond
Quiet and secluded but could use some lighting and better bathroom facilities on the camping area. Campsites slope towards pond which makes it impossible to find level area for tent. Nice fire pits and tables. Water faucets at each site is nice.

Close to MTB trails!
Blue heron, barred owl, many deer, bright stars, yurts, and adjacent to Williamson Preserve! I’ll be back.

Serenity and total relaxation
My weekend was one of the most relaxing, well rested weekends I’ve had in a long time. Waking up to birds chirping, fresh air and nature right outside your door!!! This was a total vacation, all the amnesties needed, biking trail, disc golf and we even did the hay ride and corn maze Friday night! Our Yurts were so comfortable, cozy snd exactly what we needed! We are booking again in December,! This is our beautiful retreat!

This is one of the coolest places I’ve ever ‘camped’! It’s almost hard to believe that you are in Raleigh. The yurt is very comfortable and has everything you need-bed and coffee. ;) Bathhouses are clean. Although they do need some window coverings-I put up one of my own for the time being. Great fishing!!!
I’ve been coming out here since March and the owners just keep making it better!

Peaceful weekend
My friend and I enjoyed our weekend in the spacious yurt. It was great watching the beautiful sunset over the lake and to be able to have my dogs with us on vacation. Shops and restaurants are a short drive, as well as the State Farmer’s Market. It was quiet, despite having other campers on the property. Only thing we were disappointed about was not having the incinerating toilet next to the yurt.

Great place so close to home!
We very much enjoyed our time here! We brought the kids for a night of fishing and camping, and we did all of it. Plenty of fish to catch, and my kids caught a lot of them. The ground is definitely sloped down toward the pond, but we were able to find spots for two tents that were comfortable. You’ll definitely want a ground cloth and a sleeping pad - the ground is sloped and also very uneven with roots and ruts and such. The sites are very close together - but we were the only the people there, so that was a non-issue. However, if it was full, it may not have been as enjoyable a time. But we will definitely be back!
