Jeremy is an amazing host with a great vision. The spot by the creek he is creating is a gem. It has rained for days so the ground was soggy. We weren't gonna make it to camp before the show we were checking out at the Floyd country store so he made a little video of the least muddy spot. Pulled in and a full moon greeted us over the creek where the sun rose in the AM. 2 minutes from Floyd! Such a great spot and Super host. Thanks for making us feel welcomed.

We loved our overnight stay at Wild River! Beautiful, peaceful surroundings, delicious wine, great fire pit...and delicious farm to table breakfast! Ashlee was super communicative...gave us great restaurant suggestions, and finding the campsite was super easy! Definitely recommend as a quick getaway destination!

We had a great time camping creek side in our 24’ trailer. We loved the ducks, chickens, and friendly dogs on the property. Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely camp here again.

We loved staying at JoDee's place and so did our fur baby! Having the river close by was great. We had plenty of privacy since the other tent sites on the land were not booked. The only thing I would note is that the hot water is limited (which is to be expected, you're in a tent) just don't expect a very long outdoor shower. We will be back if we are ever in the area! We also loved the location, we felt like we were able to hop over to Hillsville, Fancy Gap, Galax, the Blue Ridge Parkway and even Mt. Airy with ease. You're in a central location but it feels secluded.

1 night at Greenbrier River Campground

This is a great little campground. RV sites are really close to the river which is gorgeous to walk along. Full Hookup - Overall great little spot. Their Cabins look cozy, too. Great wifi, clean bathhouse. Def more of a spot for a cute little camping getaway, not so much a one night stay park (all sites are back in). The tenting down by the river looks awesome. Must be so fun in the summer!

We had basically the entire campgrounds to ourselves, which was great! Adam was very responsive to a question about firewood. WiFi works well at the pavilion/bathroom and showers had hot water. Our site (Bunny 2) had a large cooking grate to pull over the campfire which, was very helpful. The old climbing wall on this campsite is cool but you can’t climb it for safety reasons. About a 10 minute drive from Natural Bridge park. Would recommend!

Great spot. Great host. Awesome like hang in northern NC. Great access to places like hanging rock, Mt Airy, pilot mountain and more. Looking forward to going back when the tubes start running. We stayed in the primitive side but it was nothing short of perfect. A1 minute drive or home for five had you at the mill house and showers and bathrooms. Host was incredibly helpful. Informed is if some upcoming events that would be a dam (sic) shame to miss. Definitely with your time if you're interested in picking up a spot here. 12/10 will be back again.

Beautiful place to escape. I took a solo trip here and enjoyed it immensely. I was already starting to plan my next visit before I even left. I loved that the area allowed me to truly disconnect but there was still access to wifi nearby if needed.

This campsite was an incredible experience! The host was amazing and offered a great firewood deal, making it easy and convenient instead of buying elsewhere. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, which made the stay even more enjoyable. One of the best parts was the spacing between tents—unlike many other campgrounds, there was plenty of privacy, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Why be Square?! Blue Ridge Yurt

Awesome, cozy spot! We loved our stay at the green yurt. The wrap around porch and outdoor table are perfect for meals and enjoying nature. Make sure to take the GPS route that passes “Huffville cemetery” or you can get into a dicey backroads situation.

His passion for the land and hospitality truly made the stay special. Weekend Trip to Jessup Mill

This is a rustic experience which is exactly what I was looking for. The sound of the water from the river and the dam close by was soothing and helped me get to sleep. There was nobody camping down by the water, so I wandered down there and sat in this idyllic spot for a while. I bought a wheelbarrow of firewood, but if you do this in advance be aware that it's a bit of trek to go to the mill, bring back the firewood, return the wheelbarrow, and then walk back to the camp. Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge

We stayed in the large primitive cabin at Thunder Bridge Campground and had a great experience. The cabin was rustic, as expected, but spacious and comfortable for a primitive setup. It had enough room for our group and gave off that classic back-to-nature vibe we were hoping for. The surroundings were peaceful, with beautiful views and easy access to the creek and trails. Even without electricity or running water in the cabin, it felt like an upgrade from tent camping. The fire pit outside was perfect for evening campfires, and the porch gave us a great place to relax and take in the quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the campground overall was clean and well-maintained. It’s a great spot if you're looking to unplug and enjoy some time in nature without totally roughing it. We’ll definitely come back.

2 nights at Thunder BRidge

This is a hidden gem! Adam is a superb host, kindly accommodating our later-than-planned arrival and providing us with all of the information needed for making our stay there fabulous. Definitely take Adam up on his offer of firewood -- we enjoyed several nights by the fireside gazing up at clear night skies (unusual for where we live). We selected a "rustic" RV site as we had ample electricity and didn't need to continuously fill our water tanks, but it was really nice to have water and electricity options close-by for quickly charging my laptop, re-filling our RV water tank, and dumping our grey water. This is an ideal place to bring dogs as there is so much space to explore -- 100 acres, including a creek! Our four nights at Adam's campground with our two dogs was the relaxing vacation we needed. It also was well situated for exploring the Natural Bridge, Lexington and other attractions in the area. I would jump at the chance to return in the future. Adam is a great host!

W.T. Farm?

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. The campsite has a bathhouse with hot water and potable water. We are in Bear country so please dispose of your trash in the cans provided within the bath house. There is a shared fire pit with large stones to sit on and a cooking rack. Firewood is available until we run out at no additional charge. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. Jessup Mill

Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use. We have two price points: 1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. 2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season.
