The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future.

There is an expansive area of forest in the back for camping so please take your pick. Please park your car in the front paved driveway, front yard, or in the front of the street. Then walk towards back towards the campground area. Our stay at Buttermilk Bluff was nothing short of spectacular, and we cannot say enough about Katie and Andy. They are, without exaggeration, the best HipCamp hosts in the world. From the moment we arrived, they were warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious. They made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make our visit comfortable and memorable. Their hospitality felt effortless but incredibly thoughtful.
The RV sites themselves are excellent. This is truly a prime RV location with full hookups, including sewer, which is conveniently located only about 20 yards from the two sites. That small detail makes a big difference because it allows you to stop easily on your way out after a restful stay and handle everything without hassle.
The setting is peaceful and beautiful in a way that is hard to capture in words. We spent time hiking around the property, enjoying the quiet countryside and the wide-open space. One of the highlights was visiting with the dairy and beef cows that graze nearby—it adds such a genuine farm feel to the whole experience.
The views are another standout feature. In the distance, you can see the Blue Ridge mountain peaks rising softly along the horizon. As evening comes, the sunsets are simply stunning, painting the sky in colors that make you stop whatever you’re doing just to watch.

Weekend Trip to Arcadia Sanctuary
We had an absolutely incredible stay at this mountain yurt in Amherst, Virginia. We came in the winter months (because we’re a little crazy) and ended up getting stuck during a snowstorm — and somehow that made the whole experience even more unforgettable.
The hosts were beyond amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and taken care of the entire time. True hospitality. 11/10.
If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a place to unplug and reset — this is it. Whether you want tranquility or you’re just trying to find yourself for a bit, this place delivers.
Also, we have to give a special shoutout to Buddy the dog, who kept us company and made the whole stay even better. Such a good boy and the perfect mountain host assistant.
And a big thank-you to the workers who helped us get out of the snow — we seriously appreciated the help more than you know.

We thoroughly enjoyed this campsite! The solitude and serene views were truly unmatched. We could see for miles, and the sunsets were amazing. We traveled with two young kids who loved exploring the nearby creek. The host was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made sure all of our needs were met. Highly recommend!

The pictures don’t do the view justice at this place. Perfectly isolated, yet close enough to local amenities to go get something if necessary. The sights and sounds of the area are amazing! We saw deer, wild turkeys, a beaver, and plenty of friendly cows. With minimal light pollution, the night sky was breathtaking.
Katie was more patient and accommodating than we deserved. We enjoyed campfires both nights and utilized the well placed utility hookups for our camper. I definitely plan to return and visit some of the local attractions that we learned about and weren’t able to fit into this trip.

My husband and I planned a nice quiet weekend and happened to be apart of a great event supporting Veterans. We have already decided to come again next year but will also go when we can enjoy the beauty of the farm and trails. The site was beautiful, with lots of quiet open space. There are railroad tracks close by but we only heard a train twice all weekend. There was also a golden retriever that adopted himself into our camp but he was sweet (as long as you keep your trash out of reach lol) and got along with our puppy great. Stephanie was awesome and attentive as well, answered any questions I had quickly and clearly. It's a great little spot!
