Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays.

This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail. (Note: You cannot drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway as the path is an old forest road which has been gated, but you can walk up to it.)  We also have a tree house which has AC, heat and electrical connection.     You may camp anywhere on the property.  There is plenty of frontage on the creek and several tents can go up there. Peace like a river, love like a mountain Wintergreen Resort we’re not, but if you’re looking for a cozy (800-900 sq. ft.) mountain cabin with most of the comforts of home, Rocky Run Landing might be the place for you. Our motto is “You’re a long way away from it all before you ever get here.” Rocky Run Landing sits back in a loblolly pine grove just under the crest of Hawk Ridge in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin is two miles up the Tye River from the village of Norwood and the James River in southern Nelson County, Virginia. The address is 3124 Cedar Creek Road, Arrington, VA 22922. The cabin has a telephone, but no long distance service. Your calling card will work with this phone. You’ll have to find just the right spot to use your cell phone. Wireless internet is available via satellite. Rocky Run Landing consists of a small first-floor bedroom, a small loft bedroom, a bath and a half, kitchen/dining area, and a great room. The great room has two sleep futons, chairs, and a small TV/DVR with cable. A wood stove is also in the great room. The small kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, deep sink, gas range, coffeemaker, and microwave oven. A dining table and four chairs are provided, along with basic pots, pans, and tableware. Rocky Run Landing has central HVAC, but often all you need are the ceiling and pedestal fans. The best experience is al fresco! The small first floor bedroom features a queen bed, nightstand and lamp, and a chest of drawers. Bed linens, blankets, pillows, and towels are also provided. The half-bath is off this bedroom and adjoins the full bath. Electric wall heaters provide auxiliary heat in the bedroom and bathrooms. The bedroom also has a couple of very small closets, which are the only clothes closets in the cabin. The staircase to the small loft is very steep and is not recommended for older guests or the very young. The loft is furnished with a double bed. A hiking trail and a gravel road will take you the 1/3-mile to the Tye River, but be warned — both are steep. You’ll need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to drive to the river. You’ll need good legs to walk back to the cabin. By the riverside you'll find a well-groomed recreation area with picnic tables shaded by a canopy of white ash and river birch, a fire ring, and, in the summer, even a porta-potty. A 'beach' is cleared to the river. At normal water levels, this spot on the Tye is appropriate for supervised child's play and for adult water recreation. Fishing is also fine! History has it that the Tye River was Teddy Roosevelt's favorite fishing stream. Rocky Run Landing is a good location to either begin or end a paddling or tubing trip on the Tye/James Rivers. A canoe is available for rental and your hosts can assist with planning river trips from one-half mile to 20 miles (overnight). Shuttle service is included with canoe rental. Tubes are also available for a lazy drift downstream. Charcoal grills may be requested for use at the cabin or in the riverside picnic area (guests provide charcoal). The screened porch offers a serene view of Buffalo Ridge to the south across the river (if the leaves aren't too thick). Turn on the porch ceiling fans, relax in the porch swing, and whistle back to the whippoorwills. As the evening gets quiet, let the roar of the Tye River rapids lull you to sleep. If you decide you’d like to forgo seclusion and venture into the outside world during your stay, many places of interest are within a day trip of Rocky Run Landing. Jeffersonian and other historic properties abound, Civil War sites are easily accessible, Wintergreen Resort offers a variety of activities, and kid-friendly excursions are within kid-tolerance driving distance. Your hosts will be happy to recommend itineraries based on your interests and will check with Wintergreen to ensure any desired activity is available. Many wineries, breweries, and cideries are also in the area, along with local artisan shops. Rocky Run Landing is appropriate for a family vacation, spiritual sojourn, romantic escape, adventure quest, artist's or writer's retreat, friends' get-away, or sight-seeing base. The home sits on two acres with plenty of room to have fun in the yard or oversized patio. Our home was built in 1959 and has some character to it! Is a ranch cottage home with a basement. The home Includes: 4 bedrooms, 1 bonus room, 2 full bathrooms, main level family room, kitchen, dining room, basement family room, and laundry room. There is no master suite or master bathroom. All bedrooms have similar square footage. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds, one bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and a bonus room with a pair of twin beds. Amenities include: fully equipped kitchen, free fiber wifi, flat screen streaming TVs, private furnished patio, linens, towels, private driveway, and more. One of the bathrooms has a stand up shower. The second bathroom has a shower/tub combination. Each bathroom includes towels, hair dryer, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. It's an older remodeled home so please keep in mind the bathrooms are still small. The basement is a great place to play games, hang out and enjoy a cold beverage. The basement has an air hockey table for some competitive fun! The patio off the back of the basement has a table and chairs. And off to the side of the house is a large gathering spot with seating, large dining table, string lights, and fire pit. This location is a perfect spot to play corn hole, cook s'mores, and hangout around the fire pit. Enjoy! Main level: Family Room, Kitchen, Dinette, Dining room with sitting nook, Bedroom 1 (Queen), Bedroom 2 (Queen), Bathroom (Stand Up Shower), and Bedroom 3 (2 Twins), Basement: Bedroom 4 (Queen), Bathroom (tub/shower connected to Bedroom 4), Family Room (air hockey table), Bonus Room (2 Twins) Guest access * Self check-in with keypad * Only park on the driveway and covered carport Other things to note Time to Wine Down was a fun project for us. The home is completely renovated and we tried our best to use all the space. The steps leading down to the basement have a low clearance. Please mind your head when you are walking up and down. The basement does have a drop down ceiling ranging from 7' to 6.5'. One of the queen bedrooms in the basement has no central air. We do have a heater that warms up the room nicely. In the summer it does stay nice and cool. We have a fan available for that room. * 2 pack n' plays available please bring your own sheets * High chair is available and located in the laundry room. Toys and books are in the twin bedroom on the main level. Puzzles located in the TV stand in the family room. Library is located in the basement. * Firewood and charcoal are not included. You can purchase at Ashley's Market down the road. * Washer and dryer is located in the basement with detergent * Included Supplies: Dish soap, dish detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, face wipes, iron/ironing board, and laundry detergent. *Only 10 guest for the home *No smoking *No pets -Down the street: Route 151 is famously known for 26 wineries, breweries, ciders, and distilleries. Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants. Learn more about this land: Heavily wooded mountain side with flowing creek. Easy access (walking distance) to Jefferson National Forest, National Forest horse trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian Trail. Peace like a river, love like a mountain Wintergreen Resort we’re not, but if you’re looking for a cozy (800-900 sq. ft.) mountain cabin with most of the comforts of home, Rocky Run Landing might be the place for you. Our motto is “You’re a long way away from it all before you ever get here.” Rocky Run Landing sits back in a loblolly pine grove just under the crest of Hawk Ridge in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cabin is two miles up the Tye River from the village of Norwood and the James River in southern Nelson County, Virginia. The address is 3124 Cedar Creek Road, Arrington, VA 22922. The cabin has a telephone, but no long distance service. Your calling card will work with this phone. You’ll have to find just the right spot to use your cell phone. Wireless internet is available via satellite. Rocky Run Landing consists of a small first-floor bedroom, a small loft bedroom, a bath and a half, kitchen/dining area, and a great room. The great room has two sleep futons, chairs, and a small TV/DVR with cable. A wood stove is also in the great room. The small kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, deep sink, gas range, coffeemaker, and microwave oven. A dining table and four chairs are provided, along with basic pots, pans, and tableware. Rocky Run Landing has central HVAC, but often all you need are the ceiling and pedestal fans. The best experience is al fresco! The small first floor bedroom features a queen bed, nightstand and lamp, and a chest of drawers. Bed linens, blankets, pillows, and towels are also provided. The half-bath is off this bedroom and adjoins the full bath. Electric wall heaters provide auxiliary heat in the bedroom and bathrooms. The bedroom also has a couple of very small closets, which are the only clothes closets in the cabin. The staircase to the small loft is very steep and is not recommended for older guests or the very young. The loft is furnished with a double bed. A hiking trail and a gravel road will take you the 1/3-mile to the Tye River, but be warned — both are steep. You’ll need a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to drive to the river. You’ll need good legs to walk back to the cabin. By the riverside you'll find a well-groomed recreation area with picnic tables shaded by a canopy of white ash and river birch, a fire ring, and, in the summer, even a porta-potty. A 'beach' is cleared to the river. At normal water levels, this spot on the Tye is appropriate for supervised child's play and for adult water recreation. Fishing is also fine! History has it that the Tye River was Teddy Roosevelt's favorite fishing stream. Rocky Run Landing is a good location to either begin or end a paddling or tubing trip on the Tye/James Rivers. A canoe is available for rental and your hosts can assist with planning river trips from one-half mile to 20 miles (overnight). Shuttle service is included with canoe rental. Tubes are also available for a lazy drift downstream. Charcoal grills may be requested for use at the cabin or in the riverside picnic area (guests provide charcoal). The screened porch offers a serene view of Buffalo Ridge to the south across the river (if the leaves aren't too thick). Turn on the porch ceiling fans, relax in the porch swing, and whistle back to the whippoorwills. As the evening gets quiet, let the roar of the Tye River rapids lull you to sleep. If you decide you’d like to forgo seclusion and venture into the outside world during your stay, many places of interest are within a day trip of Rocky Run Landing. Jeffersonian and other historic properties abound, Civil War sites are easily accessible, Wintergreen Resort offers a variety of activities, and kid-friendly excursions are within kid-tolerance driving distance. Your hosts will be happy to recommend itineraries based on your interests and will check with Wintergreen to ensure any desired activity is available. Many wineries, breweries, and cideries are also in the area, along with local artisan shops. The home sits on two acres with plenty of room to have fun in the yard or oversized patio. Our home was built in 1959 and has some character to it! Is a ranch cottage home with a basement. The home Includes: 4 bedrooms, 1 bonus room, 2 full bathrooms, main level family room, kitchen, dining room, basement family room, and laundry room. There is no master suite or master bathroom. All bedrooms have similar square footage. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds, one bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and a bonus room with a pair of twin beds. Amenities include: fully equipped kitchen, free fiber wifi, flat screen streaming TVs, private furnished patio, linens, towels, private driveway, and more. One of the bathrooms has a stand up shower. The second bathroom has a shower/tub combination. Each bathroom includes towels, hair dryer, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. It's an older remodeled home so please keep in mind the bathrooms are still small. The basement is a great place to play games, hang out and enjoy a cold beverage. The basement has an air hockey table for some competitive fun! The patio off the back of the basement has a table and chairs. And off to the side of the house is a large gathering spot with seating, large dining table, string lights, and fire pit. This location is a perfect spot to play corn hole, cook s'mores, and hangout around the fire pit. Enjoy! Main level: Family Room, Kitchen, Dinette, Dining room with sitting nook, Bedroom 1 (Queen), Bedroom 2 (Queen), Bathroom (Stand Up Shower), and Bedroom 3 (2 Twins), Basement: Bedroom 4 (Queen), Bathroom (tub/shower connected to Bedroom 4), Family Room (air hockey table), Bonus Room (2 Twins) Guest access * Self check-in with keypad * Only park on the driveway and covered carport Other things to note Time to Wine Down was a fun project for us. The home is completely renovated and we tried our best to use all the space. The steps leading down to the basement have a low clearance. Please mind your head when you are walking up and down. The basement does have a drop down ceiling ranging from 7' to 6.5'. One of the queen bedrooms in the basement has no central air. We do have a heater that warms up the room nicely. In the summer it does stay nice and cool. We have a fan available for that room. * 2 pack n' plays available please bring your own sheets * High chair is available and located in the laundry room. Toys and books are in the twin bedroom on the main level. Puzzles located in the TV stand in the family room. Library is located in the basement. * Firewood and charcoal are not included. You can purchase at Ashley's Market down the road. * Washer and dryer is located in the basement with detergent * Included Supplies: Dish soap, dish detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, face wipes, iron/ironing board, and laundry detergent. *Only 10 guest for the home *No smoking *No pets -Down the street: Route 151 is famously known for 26 wineries, breweries, ciders, and distilleries. With a guest pass, six guests can access the pool. The limit on people using WPOA pools per property is six. In addition to the pools, there are two fresh water lakes with swimming nearby. Lake Monocan, a 20-acre lake and park operated by the resort that is located at 239 Camping Ridge Lane in Stoney Creek. There is a fee per person to enter and it is closed to the public on Saturdays. Sherando Lake Recreation Area is also nearby. Known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Families enjoy picnicking in this shaded and woody area, while relaxing on the sandy beach of a 25-acre spring-fed lake. Access to multiple trailheads and rustic architecture provide numerous points of interest for families to enjoy. $8 per vehicle up to 8 passenger capacity for day use. Welcome to our home away from home in the rolling hills of Afton, VA! We love to experience new restaurants, wineries, breweries, and new adventures. Trust us, Afton has all of that! Wineries and Breweries are minutes away: Hazy Mountain, King Family, Veritas, Blue Mountain and more! Love the outdoors? Come explore Shenandoah National Park: hiking, fishing, biking, and horseback riding. Wintergreen Resort is a short drive with skiing, tubing, swimming, and hiking. There is fun for everyone! The space Follow the journey on IG at @pathwaypropertiesva "Time to Wine Down" is nestled in a community right off of Rt 151. The home sits on two acres with plenty of room to have fun in the yard or oversized patio. Our home was built in 1959 and has some character to it! Is a ranch cottage home with a basement. The home Includes: 4 bedrooms, 1 bonus room, 2 full bathrooms, main level family room, kitchen, dining room, basement family room, and laundry room. There is no master suite or master bathroom. All bedrooms have similar square footage. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds, one bedroom has a pair of twin beds, and a bonus room with a pair of twin beds. Amenities include: fully equipped kitchen, free fiber wifi, flat screen streaming TVs, private furnished patio, linens, towels, private driveway, and more. One of the bathrooms has a stand up shower. The second bathroom has a shower/tub combination. Each bathroom includes towels, hair dryer, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. It's an older remodeled home so please keep in mind the bathrooms are still small. The basement is a great place to play games, hang out and enjoy a cold beverage. The basement has an air hockey table for some competitive fun! The patio off the back of the basement has a table and chairs. And off to the side of the house is a large gathering spot with seating, large dining table, string lights, and fire pit. This location is a perfect spot to play corn hole, cook s'mores, and hangout around the fire pit. Enjoy! Main level: Family Room, Kitchen, Dinette, Dining room with sitting nook, Bedroom 1 (Queen), Bedroom 2 (Queen), Bathroom (Stand Up Shower), and Bedroom 3 (2 Twins), Basement: Bedroom 4 (Queen), Bathroom (tub/shower connected to Bedroom 4), Family Room (air hockey table), Bonus Room (2 Twins) Guest access * Self check-in with keypad * Only park on the driveway and covered carport Other things to note Time to Wine Down was a fun project for us. The home is completely renovated and we tried our best to use all the space. The steps leading down to the basement have a low clearance. Please mind your head when you are walking up and down. The basement does have a drop down ceiling ranging from 7' to 6.5'. One of the queen bedrooms in the basement has no central air. We do have a heater that warms up the room nicely. In the summer it does stay nice and cool. We have a fan available for that room. * 2 pack n' plays available please bring your own sheets * High chair is available and located in the laundry room. Toys and books are in the twin bedroom on the main level. Puzzles located in the TV stand in the family room. Library is located in the basement. * Firewood and charcoal are not included. You can purchase at Ashley's Market down the road. * Washer and dryer is located in the basement with detergent * Included Supplies: Dish soap, dish detergent, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, face wipes, iron/ironing board, and laundry detergent. *Only 10 guest for the home *No smoking *No pets -Down the street: Route 151 is famously known for 26 wineries, breweries, ciders, and distilleries. We are lucky enough to be in the heart of it all! We have a wine cooler for all your new bottles. Always check online to confirm hours, services, reservations and live music! Weddings: We are less than 8 minutes away from wedding venues: Afton Mountain Vineyard, Hazy Mountain Vineyard, Veritas Vineyard, Valley Road Vineyard, Maren Estates, The Blue Ridge Farm, Cardinal Point Vineyard, Swannano Palace, and more! Rebbel Runs is a 3 minute drive from our house. They offer scenic vineyard horseback riding. Hikes close by: Blue Ridge Tunnel, Humpback Rock, Appalachian Trail, Pauls Creek Trail, Shenandoah National Park, and more! Fly Fishing: Book gear and tours with South River Fly Shop and Rockfish Gap Outfitters Wintergreen: Has a lot to offer during all seasons. Winter: ski, cross country ski, snowboard, tubing, snow shoe, and indoor pool. Summer: hiking, mountain biking, walking trails, and swimming at lake monacan. Thoroughly enjoyed camping at Butterfly 1. The host was flexible with parking when we explained we were there for a driving trip and might need to park 5 cars there. Cool spot with a stream running nearby, a couple nearby camp sites for a somewhat communal feeling and overall great stay. Would recommend and may stay there next year for the first leg of our next journey!

This is the best place we have stayed on Hipcamp. 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area. We have done Devil's Marbleyard twice now and stayed here both times. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

There’s a projector screen right by hot tub which made for some spooky vibes. And the cute fenced in yard was perfect for our dog. Adam at thunder BRidge is always so helpful and friendly! Texted him to ask for more firewood and he was there in under 2 minutes with a truck load. Forgot our dog leashes at home and he lent us two so we could bring the dogs with us to natural bridge. He reaches out beforehand to give you any details you may need and is always a text or call away if you need anything. The cabin is huge and very affordable, and allows you to rough it in style. Such a fun and enjoyable campground all around. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic weekend at Thunder BRidge! Planned this camping trip last minute for my fiancé’s birthday with our kiddos- everyone had a blast. Cots in Butterfly 1 though thin, were more comfortable than anticipated. The camp was clean and well cared for with a lot of history behind it. Bathrooms were well stocked and water was hot- a huge plus considering it was in the 40s our first morning! Adam was nice enough to send us a video of how to get to our site which was extremely convenient being that we’re not familiar with the area and did not arrive until late Friday night. Already planning on making camping at Thunder BRidge a yearly family tradition.

First off the vibe when you arrive is amazing. You are greeted by a hug from Amy as soon as you arrive. It was like you had been on vacation and had made it home. You felt welcome and appreciated. You didn't meet a stranger everyone was hanging out swapping stories and it was amazing to meet so many different people. The food, trails, view etc was a fresh breath of air. Something that was needed but you received way more than you thought you needed. I left relaxed calm mellowed and renewed. Only bad complaint I can say was it was so hard and so sad to leave the farm and Amy and her crew. Felt like leaving family. I will definitely be back soon and bringing others that could get alot out of this place! Great job to Amy, her husband, her dad, her dogs, and the crew behind the scenes yall rock!! 👏 Peace and love it was amazing coexisiting with you guys!
