Weekend Trip to Slateville Farm Secluded Camps

As always, thank you so so much Heather! We love Slateville Farm and look forward to returning to all year! Heather is fantastic, very responsive, and super super helpful and kind - she helped us out with a last minute stick of butter when I forgot mine, and the produce is amazing (loving the blueberries!) So grateful for you can't wait to come back! : )

Weekend Trip to Slateville Farm Secluded Camps

Awesome site and property! Heather was a very kind host who made us feel very welcomed onto her farm! We purchased a wood bundle and a half dozen eggs from her and were very pleased with both! High quality wood and the eggs were delicious! The quarry was so refreshing to jump into and was the highlight of the site. There are kayaks to use on shore and a nice cliff to jump off of. If you want to hang in the water you should bring a flotation device since the whole thing is at least 45’ deep! Just one note: We stayed at the new quarry site and the site had an interesting fire pit. It is a very deep metal “cup”. Thankfully our tripod hanging cooking grate just barely fit over it so we could still use it but it is just something to be aware of. It’s pretty big so the fire is deep into the cup so its kind of tough to watch the fire unless you are standing up. The redeeming thing about it though is that it does a fantastic job of keeping the smoke out of your face! It forces the smoke straight up. Overall it was a 10/10 site and Heather has such a beautiful property! We will be back!

My son and I loved this unique glamping experience! Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and we even met someone who is also from Maryland, like us! We especially loved the hammock by the water and the cats. Such a beautiful, peaceful space. Thank you for sharing with us!

We had a nice 2 night stay in the area. Check in was very easy and got a brief tour of the area before settling into our car camping spot. (If car camping, take it slow on the hill as there are a few dips that may scratch). All in all, nice stay and would come back! Thank you for having ua!

Great little spot, only stayed for one night but the shed and the bed was so cute and cozy and exactly what I needed. The spot cooled down pretty quickly despite being a very hot day in July. The hammock was a nice touch too, could probabaly sleep three in the shed if someone slept in the hammock as well.

We loved how private and peaceful this campsite felt as it really felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Sure there are other sites on the property, but they are well-spaced. So you have plenty of privacy and quiet. We visited in early July and were treated to an incredible show of fireflies each night. Heather was a wonderful host—very responsive and helpful, and she gave us great recommendations for local places. The on-site shower with hot water at the farm stand was also a bonus. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a serene, private getaway close to nature!

I loved camping here! The camp site was perfect. Great space. The water down by campsite B was perfect to float and sit on the rocks and enjoy the sun. My dog absolutely loved relaxing in the grass while we played yard games. The sunset on our first night was beautiful. We also drove to the falls about 15 minutes away and it was a great little hike. Overall this was an amazing experience and would recommend this to anyone

This is a great spot. Accurate to the listing. Property is right off a rural road so there's a bit of traffic but barely noticeable. Nelson has set up a dog tent for us as we were traveling with our puppy. There's 2 picnic tables, both with shade. The folding chairs are pretty nice. We enjoyed the river, the outdoor shower. We had the whole place to ourselves so it was pretty great. I would definitely go back again.

2 nights at Bent Apple Farm

This place was lovely. Exactly what I expected from a place on HipCamp. The photos are accurate and Loana was easy to communicate with. We literally saw no one, and it’s a short distance to a grocery store if you need it, and many amazing hikes. If you love cooking like we do, make sure you bring the essentials, but the gas stove was awesome and there was plenty of fridge space (bring ice if you need it!) Would 100 percent stay again.

Heathers land was so relaxing and beautiful. The perfect place to set up a tent, and chill out while the dog plays ALL DAY. The oak tree site is super secluded and offers insane views of the mountains and surrounding farmland. There is a great farm stand right next to Heathers home, and whatever she can’t provide you herself - she will direct you where to get it! Truly an amazing stay, we will 1000% be coming back.

This land was absolutely breath taking. Our big group has more than enough space, it was completely private, and there was so much space to explore. We swam in the quarry, spent time with the highland cows, saw a beautiful sunset, and had everything we needed. The outdoor shower is a treat with amazing water pressure, Heather was extremely kind and accommodating, and the whole property was amazing. We hope to come back soon! I couldn’t recommend it more.

One of the oldest properties in town the Day Homestead (as it is known) dates back hundreds of years and our house was built in 1810. It was run as a successful trout farm of 70+ years. Learn more about this land: We have two sites on our historic Vermont trout farm. The first site sits near our post and beam "run in" horse barn. It's a very flat site with easy road access and has 30 AMP electric service and we can provide potable water to fill up your tank. The second site sits a little further back (also very easy access) and closer to Quation Brook. It is better suited for boondocking as it is a little ways from the 30 AMP outlets. Again water is available. Our farm is very rural but close (2 miles) to interstate 89 with a well stocked country store in town. It's a quiet setting near the gardens and a small stream. Sweet Song Acres is 100+ acres of secluded forest nestled along the Little Sugar River, at the base of Perry Mountain. Located in rural Unity, NH and Charlestown, NH, just across the Vermont state line. Southernmost point, located in Charlestown is one of two campsites. The other is Shady Grove, located in Unity. The two sites, located in bordering towns share the same entrance and are connected by a 1/4 mile trail. Both are very large sites. Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. There are many options of local outdoor activities in the area or if you prefer, just sit and "listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul".

There are trails for hiking and mountain biking (no dirt bikes or ATV's) all over the farm and a beautiful brook in a sheltered mountain valley. Just a 5 minute drive to the bottom of the hill is the first branch of White River; a beautiful clean river for swimming and fishing crossed by multiple covered bridges that lead to the farm. Our farmhouse was built in 1785, and the barn built around the 1830s and expanded in 1941. The soil here is rich, and the forest full of wildlife. The White River flows right through town, as it makes its way to the Connecticut River as its longest undammed tributary. Nestled into the western slope of the Green Mountains just twenty minutes from Rochester, the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area offers hiking and mountain biking trails, several camping areas, and plenty of scenic views. The area’s highlight is the Robert Frost Trail, an interpretive trail that commemorates Robert Frost’s poetry and introduces hikers to the area's landscape.

Chittenden Reservoir

The Chittenden Reservoir is tucked into the Green Mountain National Forest about 45 minutes from Rochester.
