My family of 5 plus a dog rolled in to our campsite early afternoon and had no trouble finding it with Lauren's helpful instructions. The site is surrounded on 3 sides by a steep drop into arroyos - worth noting if you have kids. The older kids (6 and 8) loved scrambling up and down and all around but it was too steep for the littlest one. The tent site was level and relatively free of big rocks, the ground is hard scrabble so you will probably want your tent pegs that screw in or maybe your mallet. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed wandering around on the property every night after dinner. The potty is far enough away that you will probably want to drive if you have little kids who can't hold it for a 10 minute walk, but we enjoyed being far enough away that we felt truly in the middle of nowhere. The other campsites aren't far, but they are far enough that you don't need to interact with your neighbors. Our pup enjoyed running around the place as much as the kids.

I loved that it is a smaller rv/campground. I travel in a Class B RV and the site was a good size with nice desert landscaping in between sites. Electric worked flawlessly and the pea gravel really keeps the dust down, it’s also a great location to Terlingua Ghost town and awesome views of the Chisos Mountains. Elena was great at communicating with me. I will back again some day and stay at Jo mommas!

4 nights at Casa de Keaveny Cabin and Campsite
There is something very charming and spiritual about Jim’s cabin and land. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe and at peace. Jim is a true Texas gem — I could listen to his stories for hours.
The cabin is clean and eclectically decorated. I enjoyed walking around and looking at his collected treasures. It’s in a wonderfully quiet area with no road noise or loud neighbors. It’s very easy to stare off into the mountains and lose yourself in the views, especially at sunrise or sunset. The nighttime sky alone was worth the 10-hour drive.
The Wi-Fi was stronger at this remote cabin than in my own suburban house. It would be very easy to work remotely from here if needed.
It felt like a real privilege to stay here. Jim isn’t going to become a millionaire renting out this cabin at such a low price. It feels like a true labor of love that he’s chosen to share with the world.
You’ll enjoy every minute here and find it hard to leave. I’m already planning next year’s trip.
Items I would bring: lots of drinking water, trash bags, a propane tank (like those used for a gas BBQ grill), and paper towels. Although Jim has all of this stocked, I found myself using more than I normally would and felt bad depleting his supplies.

The most beautiful stars I’ve ever seen! Not a cloud in the sky. I was truly blessed. Thanks again John! Instructions were crystal clear and helped immensely since I arrived at night. I would highly recommend and will probably visit again!

We absolutely loved camping out on Jason's land! Conveniently located about 5 mins from Big Bend National Park with a nice little general store close by as well it really was the perfect location. We certainly enjoyed the use of a nice large firepit and the picnic tables. The outhouse was clean and convenient at the camp site and the showers a short distance away were a huge plus! We also highly appreciated Jason's helping us get one of our cars jumped the last morning. All in all would definitely stay again, and highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to visit Big Bend!

My group stayed at "El Groupo" site. It was PERFECT! When I was looking around for somewhere to stay while I was at Big bend, there was definitely no shortage of glamping locations. But this was the perfect secluded and nature immersed location that let you connect with the outdoors. While still having access to the basic necessities like showers and restrooms. (And a added bonus of a pool to chill after a warm day of hiking.) All while being just a minute or two drive from the Terlingua restaurants and bars if you feel like getting some great grilled food or a cold beer. Would most definitely stay here again!

Elena is a fantastic host! I stay with here every time I come out to Terlingua. Highly recommend staying on her land, it's the perfect location and the stars are unbeatable.

The actual campsite was awesome, but the directions and information provided in an email from Lauren was very confusing and overly complicated. Recommend she streamline directions with single bullet points and put a few more signs along arduous route the Star Gazer camp site. Also, would be beneficial to inform campers who choose this site (especially those riding adventure motorcycles) that it would be highly beneficial to get your firewood before trekking to the camp site. Same with using the showers.....

It was serene and far enough away from other people to really get to enjoy the solitude. My 2 pups and I spent 4 nights there to connect to nature and decompress from a stressful time in life. It was perfect for that! The dogs learned to quickly look before they step and the thorns in their feet were a minimum. I was surprised at the amount of traffic on Reimers Rd., and there was one neighbor kinda close in my opinion. Overall I had a wonderful time and was able to disconnect from technology! So amazing! I felt 100% safe.
