I stayed with Carl and Stacy on my bicycle trip across the US. Upon arrival I was greeted by Carl. He was super accommodating and made sure I had everything I needed. I had a wonderful night rest at Happy acre. I highly recommend staying with Carl and Stacy.

The land was so beautiful, private, and remote. It was also very easy to navigate and 2wd accessible. Beware the sac spiders! There are many of them because of the geographical location. They are nocturnal so just make sure your tent is set up before nightfall. Unbeatable stay!

Yet another wonderful stay at Blank Canvas, lost count, fifth or sixth stay so far. Highlight was finally getting to meet Amie in person as she delivered the farm fresh eggs (from a neighbor) that we purchased along with our reservation. Just as lovely and kind as she has always been in all our communications over the years. Her site has always been a welcome break from the road, and is easily accessible in a Class-B (what we drive) or likely any model car or camper you have.

Lost track of how many times we have stayed in the last three years (I think at least our fifth), but far and away our favorite place. Easy and straight forward directions from the highway (about 10 minutes off the highway) and well worth it for the peace, quiet, isolation, wide-open vistas, and dark skies for viewing the stars. Always welcoming and responsive. Thanks again for hosting us Amy.

Third time camping on Amie’s land. Was as peaceful as always with a sky filled with stars. If you like peace and quiet and dark skies when the moon is just a sliver look no further. Amie was as gracious and responsive as always, particularly considering we had to cancel last two scheduled stays due to weather and unexpected RV breakdown, we were looking forward to our return. A little bit off the highway, but directions are straightforward and well worth the extra few minutes so find the solitude you will experience.

Our inspiration for Back Forty RV Park comes from our Dad, JT Lindsey. J.T. and wife Lucille bought these 40 acres of land in 1972, moved their family into the farm house desperately needing attention, and raised their three children here. JT worked his entire life in agriculture as a farmer and cattle rancher. He was smart, hard working, and very mechanically inclined-he could fix anything! He was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and a good cup of coffee, but he loved his family the most. Summer vacation was RVing in Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee, Alabama, South Dakota and Florida but only after harvest was done and the fields were plowed! Daddy was taken from us way too soon, but his love and affection for his family has remained with us through the years. His image appears in our signs and logos taken from our favorite photo. It’s our hope you feel like you are coming back home at Back Forty RV Park. Back Forty RV Park is a local owned park located in Quanah, Tx. Conveniently on US Hwy 287 between Amarillo and Dallas/Fort Worth. Our rural Texas location has wide open skies, amazing sunsets and beautiful sunrises. About

Big sky and big cattle are big parts of this state park. A portion of the official Texas longhorn herd lives in the park.

This is also a Dark Sky Park. That means there aren't any bright city lights to spoil your nighttime stargazing efforts. Bring a star chart, binoculars, and telescope to see millions and millions of stars. You might glimpse some planets and orbiting satellites, too.

During the day, two lakes provide water-based activities. Bring your own boat to Copper Breaks Lake and Big Pond. Leisurely set out in your canoe or kayak for a slow-paced day on the water.

The lake has rainbow trout for anglers. Feel free to swim and cool off in the blue water. Kite flying and mountain biking are also popular here. The surrounding hills have some great campsites nestled among the trees and scrub.

Around 24 sites have electricity and water, while 11 sites use just water. Thirteen equestrian sites let you camp with your trusty steed. Six hike-in sites offer rustic camping.

Big Pond Equestrian Campground

I actually stayed at one of Group Campsites within the Equestrian Campground. The views were amazing! Each site has its own picnic table and fire ring, and the designated equestrian sites have water. The sites within the group camping area are nestled back a bit from the roadway in a cluster. They're actually each very private and I highly recommend booking them individually, if possible. They're separated enough that each feels like its own site. They're only grouped together by a small 'shared' area in the center. You're not able to drive up to these sites, so a bit of walking is required. There's plenty of site options for the equestrian sites and each boasts it's own unique view of the surroundings. Super stoked I made the trip out.
