The campsite overlooks over 600 acres of peaceful grassy knolls which takes the viewer back in time. See below for a bit of local history and things to see while in the area. Our campsites are BYOS sites: We do not provide outhouses or tent potties at our sites, so you must bring your own. We do, however, provide a full restroom with shower/bath at the main house during reasonable hours and have a septic for you to dispose of your waste (during open hours) so you don't have to travel with it. Welcome and we hope you enjoy yourselves and get a glimpse of a little bit of what our tierheim visitors enjoy when they come here. Local History About 65 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, near the junction of Highways 81 and 17, was a sign that said: "Welcome to Rush Springs, home of 1500 happy faces and a few old soreheads." Now the sign says: "Welcome to Rush Springs." Also, there is a giant watermelon slice indicating that Rush Springs is also the Watermelon Capital. Rush Springs gets its name from the large springs near the head of Rush Creek from which the town gets its water supply. It is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) settlements in Grady County, Oklahoma. The history of Rush Springs may be divided into six periods. The first period leads up to 1858. The springs served as a camping site for Indian tribes from very early days. The Wichita Indians settled on Rush Creek about four miles southeast of the present town around 1850. It was at this place that the famous "Battle of the Wichita Village" was fought between the Comanches and the United States Calvary on October 1, 1858. After this battle, the Wichitas fled to Fort Arbuckle. The second period deals with the Chisholm cattle trail (1865-1892). Thousands of heads of cattle were driven northward across the territory over this trail from Texas to Kansas. This trail passed about one and a half miles east of the town, and the springs served as a watering place for the cattle. This trail ceased to be used after the railroad was built across the territory in 1892. Parts of this trail can still be seen today. The third period covers the years 1871-1878. Fort Sill had just been established. Supplies had to be shipped to Fort Sill from points in the eastern part of Indian Territory. After the building of the railroad across the eastern part of the territory, Caddo became the main shipping point. Rush Springs was between Caddo and Fort Sill. A stage stand was built and a little town sprang up. When the government freight station was moved from Caddo to Texas, the little town nearly died. The years 1878-1892 make up the fourth period. The "Huntley Ranch" was established on Rush Creek near the site of the old Wichita Village. The ranch became a stage stand and a freight station for local settlers. A post office, known as "Parr," was established at this place in 1883. In 1892, this post office was moved to Rush Springs. The fifth period begins in the year 1892, when the Rock Island Railroad came through the springs. It became a government freight station to Fort Sill for nine years, resulting in rapid growth of the town. The sixth period dates from 1901 when the Rock Island Railroad lines were extended to Fort Sill and Lawton, thus ceasing the freight trade at Rush Springs. The town has since depended on ranching, farming and oil interest for its existence. Nestled just a quarter mile from the entrance of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, our glamping village sits on a scenic hill behind our cafe, offering stunning views of Mt. Scott and direct access to nearby hiking trails. We currently feature two glamping wall tents- Zion and Selah, which include a wooden deck and framed queen-size outfitted beds, bistro table and chairs inside creating a cozy, romantic retreat you won't forget. Both wall tents have an Icy Breeze AC cooler available upon request which helps to stay cool while inside the tent. Our hillside location cools down nicely in the evenings with a lovely breeze. We recommend keeping your mesh windows unzipped and open to allow the wind to gently pass through. Swim at Bath Lake durring the afternoon, chill inside our cafe, or visit our neighbors at the Aquarium....all great ways to stay cool durring the heat of the day! We have also recently added a new canvas bell tent- Bethany which features two XL heavy duty twin cots with super comfy mattress toppers, bamboo cooling sheets, and full plush bedding. Our bathhouse includes two private rooms, each equipped with a camping toilet, pump sink, and thoughtful amenities for your comfort. Our outdoor shower will be refreshing after a long hike as well! We have two standing outdoor grills for your cooking needs. Both on the gravel parking lot level, one by the covered patio, the other by the picnic area. Bring your own charcoal, for easy lighting and convenient cooking. Please remember to leave no trace, use trash recepticles and do not leave any food out for the wildlife. Bringing a pet? They are very welcome here, however, we now require a $30 pet fee due to additional cleaning and potential damages. Please add this on to your booking. For those seeking a more rustic experience, we also offer nine primitive walk-up campsites where you can bring your own tent, or request our pre set tent (requires 48 hrs notice). The hosts were awesome, very welcoming. Gave us an awesome recommendation for a swimming spot. We purchased the firewood and he had a fire all built and ready to light when we got there, which was awesome. The bed was very comfy. We did not end up staying all night because it was too hot on the day we picked, but will likely book another visit for a cooler time.

I arrived later into the night and departed prior to the CAFE opening so I was unable to check out the space but, from what I could see this place is pretty special. the colorful artwork and outdoor seating had me envisioning a future visit. My stay was quiet and most importantly, safe. I loved the sound of the wind chime throughtout the night. I look forward to a better planned trip to dine outdoors with a refreshing sip/meal

We had a nice overnight stay. My husband and I were van camping and just needed a place to crash for the night with our dogs. We used their tent camping spot which is in a big grassy area. Overall, the campground is small and very tidy. We enjoyed the fact that it’s not a big crowded RV park. Their dog is also very friendly and our dogs enjoyed playing with her when she visited our van. We were kindly invited to watch UFC fights on an outside projector as part of a regular Saturday night gathering at the campground. The noise was no problem once we were in our van with a fan going. In fact, we couldn’t hear it at all. We would happily stay again.

There is road noise some is by a road but it’s also very convenient to be so close to a road that takes you downtown or straight to the wildlife refuge. Their campsites allow you to rough it and experience a full on camp experience with the option of a fresh coffee/breakfast from their kitchen. They have lots of protection from the rain if it’s a stormy night.

All the extra stuff like the “tower” and the cozy space outdoors made everything so much better too. And the cafe food/menu is amazing. Also, every person that worked there was so nice. I just loved the whole experience.

Absolutely loved the experience. We had the whole site to ourselves, nested near the pond. It was peaceful and quiet, we slept very well in the pasture, And were lucky to have Valentine, the friendliest most curious horse Ive ever met come and hang with us. It was lovely to wake up and hear the horses graze around the tent. Tiffany is a gem of a woman, takes good care of her animals and land and is very welcoming and hospitable. Only regret is we had to hit the road on the next day, wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks so much Tiffany!

Weekend Trip to Hippie Hill

Loved tent camping on Hippie Hill! Be sure to grab a bite to eat before or after your Medicine Park/Wichitas adventures! LOVE THEM! First time camping although I’ve visited their cafe previously. I endlessly recommend the stay! Hosts and cafe staff are so kind. I definitely recommend camping as high up the hill as you’re able to go. Further from the road and more into nature. You’re likely to see deer and elk, and maybe even hear some coyotes. They have camper-style bathroom facilities which is very convenient, and even allow you to use the cafe facilities during operating hours. I hope to stay many more times in the future!! Moneka Park North Campground

My husband & I enjoy camping & fishing at Moneka Park. Most couples have a “place” like a restaurant or club; Moneka Park is our “place.” Primitive camping is such fun & the spot at which we usually camp is the perfect size for our tent & a fire for cooking with a path down to the water (behind the dam at Waurika Lake). There are restrooms with tall outside water faucet for fresh water to wash dishes or whatever. The scenery is beautiful & the park is not used by many people so that we’re usually alone. Great place to spend a weekend!

Wichita Ridge Campground

Had a great time camping at the lake with the family. Ross and Paula were great! Very informative and a joy to be around. Best camp hosts ever! Glad to have met them left with two new friends. Cant wait to come back!
