There is over a quarter mile of Brazos riverfront property although you cannot get to the river on all of it due to it being in its natural state. There is a beach at the main camp that provides easy in and out of the water. the water depth varies with the rainfall but is usually between 2-4 feet deep.

Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters. We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River. In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent. Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river. Site 2: Firepit seating area overlooking limestone riverbed with 3 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with a shade umbrella, 10' x 10' raised tent / deck platform, stairs down to riverbed and shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy. Site 3: Firepit seating area overlooking the riverbed, 2 wooden Adirondack chairs, 2 picnic tables, 1 shade umbrella, 2 sets of rock stairs to the riverbed, shallow area of the river for kids to play. Please select those during checkout Tips: Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children. Bring the essentials for any camping trip including: sunscreen, bug spray, anti-itch meds, etc. Chairs and sunshades to sit in the river are always popular. The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream. Water is available at the entrance. No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable. Dogs are allowed on leash. It has various trees on property with cedar, live oak, post oak, etc. Campsites are in front of a wide waterfall which is about 5 feet in height. You can fall asleep with the sound of the waterfalls! We have three ground tent sites and two 14 by 14 deck sites if you want to be up off the ground. Each site has a fire ring and electricity. There are well-marked trails across the creek which go to a meadow and a big treehouse I built several years ago. Glen Rose has several restaurants known for barbecue and Mexican food. Granbury is 25 minutes away with lots of shopping and restaurants around their historic town square. Glen Rose also has a town square.

If children are in, on or near water they should have life jackets on. Use best judgment, safety measures and laws required in TX. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENTS. Fishing Guidelines per visit: Bass 10”-14” keep, limit 10, Crappie limit 10, Catfish are catch and release for now, Bluegill (I call them perch) limit 10. No fishing licenses required. Our property is 1.5 acres with four RV spots including electric, water, sewer and internet. The property is mostly grass with native trees mixed among the sites in providing shaded areas. The driveways and RV spots are gravel surfaced. A storage shed is provided for each RV space for longer term visitors.

1 night at Pecans on the Paluxy - River Views

We had a perfect time at campsite three. We were able to watch the World Series game while grilling dinner on the beautiful fire pit overlooking the river. I saw that another review noted the traffic noise. Yes, there is traffic on the road by the site, but for us it was no problem at all. This was our second visit here and we are already planning our trip back!

We absolutely adored this site. The host has gone above and beyond with the extras. Our site included a nice flagstone patio, comfy Adirondack chairs, and a great view of the river. There is a very large tent pad covered with gravel, which was flat and easy to put our tent up. Our site also included kayaks and a hammock. Our residential area is under a bun ban, so we drove the 5 hours north to enjoy 2 nights chatting around a big campfire. It was worth every second. There is moderate road noise, but its not a "busy" road as one review mentioned. Unfortunately for us, there was an all day baseball tournament nearby, so we spent the day listening to cheering (but that's likely just a seasonal thing). We will definitely be back, and next time bring some friends.

Beautiful spot on the river and camp sites are very well taken care of and spacious. The baseball/softball lights and shenanigans led to some later and earlier noise and light than desired but that was in the reviews and we knew what to expect with an easy to reach off the road place. Fishing was decent for the kids and all very accessible down the walkway and on the limestone ledge.

*On music night weekends we may book 2 to a spot, each camper will have at least a 20x20 space.

It was wonderful. Very polite. Got to roam around the ranch saw a plethora of animals. Listening to the coyotes at sunrise and sunset. Watching the monarch butterflies fly through camp was magical. The ranch operator and his wife (I’m so sorry I forgot their names) were so polite and nice the doggo too!. They were able to help out with fire wood. Clean facilities, drinking water available. Just great.

The old calving barn has a cabin renovation on it that looks amazing

I enjoyed myself! Slept here for two nights. Its a big lot! Right next to the other two and separated by trees but still a big lot. Furniture is well kept. Replied to my messages promptly. Loved the river view. Saw Deer and fish as i walked the river. Theres a few baseball fields across the street and an adorable town right down the street with shops and restaurants.

This is by far and away our favorite place to camp! The river access is steps away and full of memories just waiting to be made! The land is clean and everything is well marked. It’s close enough to town to get whatever you need but feels like you are away from it all. Great place to fish and explore the Paluxy.

Paul’s site is great. The fishing was fantastic, the water was deep enough in this part of the Paluxy to fish, swim, and kayak even in September. Also really shallow areas for the very young kids. Renting kayaks and buying firewood from Paul was very convenient (saved a lot of room in my truck for everything else). Our family of 4 stayed at campsite #1. Great view of the river, felt private enough for having neighbors at the sites adjacent. Only critique for this spot is the Friday Night Lights - when the home team is doing well the train horn goes off quite a bit at the Glen Rose high school football stadium. Overall great trip, will be coming back.
