Great News: Willie Nelson is coming back to Floore's Country Store where his music began. (also where Elvis got his start). His long-standing favorite, Shotgun Willie, was based on John T Floore. Willie and Family will come on Wednesday, October 23. Tickets go on sale 8/29. Floore's is within walking distance of the campsite. Also, on the list Robert Earl Keen (9/2); Josh Abbott Band (9/7); The Mavericks with Asleep at the Wheel (9/14); Gary Allen (9/21) Eli Young Band (10/5). Please check dates. From the campsite, you will hear all outdoor bands and Willie's is outdoors. I was not looking for another house to buy, but my daughter wanted me to look at a "little cottage" in Old Town Helotes. Just to shut her up, I made an appointment on a rainy day so I could not see/access the back of the property. The house was 3,000 sq feet and I fell so madly in love with it that I made an offer two hours later. I saw the potential of both house and land. Only after moving in did I walk the pasture and realize how much land I had bought. The house was featured in the San Antonio Express News (Spaces 2/27/2011) as a home for the arts because I collect folk art: mostly from Mexico. My daughter Kelly and I worked on the front gardens first; butterfly and cactus gardens, always mindful of choosing local plants and trees. In the spring, the mountain laurels add color; honeysuckle and jasmine scent the land and the flowers on the cacti bloom scarlet and yellow. The summer and fall produce the yellow and orange Esperanza bushes and the Mexican Bougainvillea. Three years ago, I decided to maximize the use of the back pasture which is separated from the front by a dry creek bed. Kelly and I started an heirloom vegetable farm with raised beds and terracing. We installed some stone steps for easier access. According to the "old folks" here, this property was part of a ranch on the stagecoach line replete with cowboys and Indians, started out as a two-room stone shack and blossomed into a Cinderella home with Moroccan arched ceilings and even a wine cellar. As parking is on one side of the creek and camping is across the creek, RV's and camper vehicles are discouraged. However, if you message me prior to booking, we can accommodate one low one under the oaks in the front and you will have access to front chiminea and back pasture amenities also. We are proud to announce that our campsite has been nominated for Best Hipcamp in Texas for 2019 and was recently featured on television to promote Hipcamp. Old Town has just opened its first art gallery featuring local artists and Chula Vista Farms is hosting its second "en plein air" event in the fall. 3 nights at Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Boulderdash is quite amazing! We usually camp in tent campsites because we have a tiny camper, and we don't like to be among huge RVs. Boulderdash is a quite small campground but the design is great and RVs do not face each other and are not lined up, so everybody has privacy. We stayed for the first two nights in the RV site 3, and for the last night we moved to tent site 1 by the river. The tent campsites are the best for who likes nature. While they don't have water or power at the campsite itself, they have a great outdoor washing area with potable water, electricity and a picnic table. There's a port-a-potty besides the bathrooms on the hilltop. Our campsite had a fire ring, a grill, a great picnic table, and you're steps from the river. Water was pretty low but it was running because there are some springs that feed into it. Everything at Boulderdash is well thought out, the bathrooms are super clean and cute, shower is FANTASTIC! Every picnic table has a flower arrangement and a jar of corn to feed the deer, and a small shop. Wi-fi made camping bearable to our teenage daughter. Also fantastic are the hosts: Carole-Anne is super friendly, and received us with a pumpkin bread that she baked to all campers who were there on thanksgiving. That really set the tone right. She was super accommodating to our requests, and is just an overall nice person. Their dogs and cats are super sweet, as are the deer that come every day to get sone corn. We had a wonderful time!

Great location! The river was awesome to fish and the property was pretty clean. Only complaint were dogs barking but it died down after sunset.

My fiance and I stayed in Forest 2, it was our first time camping and we loved it. The spot was secluded and felt quiet, not far from the restrooms either. Deer would occasionally be around the site at night time while we slept, we didn't mind, but recommended to have food stored away properly and have the trash thrown. We also went fishing by the river and saw some nice fish, the water was nice and clear. Overall awesome experience.

Amazing hidden gem on a beautiful river!!! Great facilities and accommodations. We stayed at Forest 2 secluded camp spot. The camp was full while we were there with about 90% occupancy but we still felt pretty secluded. River access is unbeatable. Some local stores nearby and close to Bandera for restaurants and shopping. Would definitely return.

Experience RV living at its finest with our stunning riverfront sites – where every day is a postcard-worthy moment. 🚐🌊

Loved visiting this gorgeous land. The water is so beautiful I only wish there was more of it 🥲 AMAZING star gazing, bathrooms are very clean and well kept! Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper as puppers are gonna do what puppers do 🐶 Will definitely be coming back! Thanks so much!

We love the campsite. We came back the second time. It has a lot of space for all our equipment to spread out. The river right next to the cliff is crisp and clear. While we were there, other campers caught decent-sized fish. The shower and restroom facilities are clean and available.

Such a nice spot on the water, just steps away to crystal clear water with plenty of fish, shallow enough to where the dogs could swim and stand. The host was really accommodating to our needs and made the experience really easy going. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We enjoyed our weekend at the cozy cottage. The lodging had more than the essential commodities. The location had a had a spectacular views and pristine river which invite one to bask in the moment. Further, Angela was always available and responsive. We will come back some other time

The campsite was absolutely beautiful! I loved having some of the everyday comforts, while getting the outdoor camping feel. It was nice not being too far from town as we did realize we forgot to bring some items. Overall loved this place and will return in the future.

We enjoyed the nice river. It was beautiful. But walking along the river got tiring since we are in our 70s. It would have been nice to have some benches down by the river. We would have stayed there longer if there were places to sit. Thank you. Fran Plumlee

This place rocks! Easy to get to, great space for tents and cooking and the kids loved the river. It safe and clean and allows the kids freedom to explore and play in a safe way! Communication and support was also exceptional. Will definitely come again!

Tent camped with my scout troop at Home Away. The scouts loved playing with the goats and donkeys. The owners could not have been nicer people and made sure that we had an amazing experience.
