Avinger Station RV Park
The History of the Station
Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998.
It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021
after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again.
Desiring to preserve and improve our community’s heritage of service to travelers and trades, the depot is being restored and will serve as the RV Park office.

•A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required.

•The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must
not be given out to anyone of your party.
•Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
while outside your RV at all times.
•Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb
other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control,
and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to
immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins
are available for waste.
•Use of generations is prohibited, expect during
a power storage.
•Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park
is prohibited.
•Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot
(office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.)
•Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you.

2 nights at Glamping Remote
I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide.
The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home.
The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials!
Now a couple of things to think about:
If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker.
The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it.
Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself.
Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one.
All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!

This is a gravel parking lot that is sizable, has power hookups, has water hookup, and sewer hookup, and a huge shade tree.
This is in the city, so there is traffic constantly by the spot, but it is peaceful enough to get rest if you're traveling through, on the way to somewhere else.
Richard was a wonderful host, and actually met me at the spot to make sure that I could get in and situated. It was very appreciated.
Since I was parked under the shade tree for the proximity to the power hookup, my starlink barely worked because of the obstruction overhead. This is not the host's fault, it's just how it was, and I'm letting everyone know if you've got Starlink, this may be an impediment to your connection.
I got very good directions, and since Richard was present, I was on the phone with him when I pulled in, so everything went smoothly.

There was some confusion concerning check in, but we got it straightened out. Great location if visiting Crater of Diamond State Park. We had one of the tents, which was very roomy and stayed cool despite the high temperatures.

This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.

The property is absolutely stunning—Will and Austyn are clearly putting so much love and care into the land, and it shows. Our hosts Will and Austyn are amazing. They are so friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to made sure we have everything we needed. My husband and I stayed in the Unique Glamping Dome. It was very spacious and the bed was so comfy. The shared kitchen and bathroom are was so clean!! Side note Almond (the cat) was just as welcoming and friendly as our hosts. The Glamping tent was setup very nice and the ac kept the unit comfortable. Very remote location so take plenty of bug spray. Great place to unplug and sit by the river and fish. Bathrooms were clean and the shower was great. We will definitely come back some day.

Absolutely the finest campground we've ever seen! The amenities and layout are exceptional! Laundry, sauna, level sites, it has it all and charm to boot. Our host was very helpful and we will be back!

Will and Austin are awesome hosts! There was a slight mixup (probably our fault) in our reservation but they upgraded me to the awesome tiny home for night two. It was brand new. Austin gave me a great tour and history of the property at midnight when I finally arrived. Was still there to greet me! Great place. Not far from a beautiful lake. Bring your kayaks and enjoy the east Texas life for a bit!

Will and Austyn went above and beyond to share the history and beauty of family land while also providing a safe haven of glam and convenience to feel like you are amongst the wild but feeling safe, accepted and valued.
I grew up not far from here. And this area has always brought me back - despite my endless travels to find other semblances of home in nature or culture.
I recognize that the piney woods of East, TX have always been home to me and especially to the city girl that left when she was 18 for “more”.
The people here are family forward, embrace all things nature and have down home values - while also providing the land with as much nourishment as it gives us. And Will and Austyn are leading the path for generations to come.
They will let you be in solitude if you choose, but they can also be the best guides and companions for an unforgettable escape amongst the wild.
My heart is full and my friend list has grown. I will always go back.
But, I wouldn’t be able to say that if I never went in the first place. :)
