Camping near Texarkana guide

Overview

Full of rolling hills, dense forests, and babbling creeks, the landscapes surrounding Texarkana are as diverse as the camping. Cypress-studded waters sit within Caddo Lake State Park, an hour south of town. Here, anglers can cast a line from fishing piers and boat ramps into the lake for largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and sunfish. The rest of the group can paddle along Big Cypress Bayou and Saw Mill Pond with a canoe rental, and then return to RV parks with full hookups, grills, picnic tables, laundry facilities, and concrete pads. Cabin rentals are next door and offer heating and air-conditioning, plus basic appliances and a gas fireplace. Closer to town, Atlanta State Park provides a retreat on the shores of Wright Patman Lake. Enjoy the swimming beach, horseshoe court, and playground, all within easy access to back-in and pull-through RV sites for big rigs with water, electricity, and dump stations. Nearly five miles of hiking trails are accessible, including the family-friendly Bobo’s Ferry Trail that follows a historic wagon route.
