We had the best time at McDonald’s Farm! From splashing in the river to hanging out fireside this is the spot! Our kids loved seeing the pigs, chickens, and horse, as well as exploring the property. Weekend Trip to Haven Retreat Lake & Woods Camping

I had such a great experience at this campsite! Wonderful secluded spot where you really feel connected with nature. Lots of land you can explore and my dog was able to roam around freely. Host was very nice and responsive and even helped fill up our air mattress when our air pump wasn’t working. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice camping spot near the water!

Tent camping made easy! Lovely spaces to choose from. Literally a farm! Horse, chickens, pigs!! Outdoor bathroom & shower available. Beautiful areas by the river, just a small hike. Definitely will come back to stay by the river! Extremely informative and friendly host. So worth the drive. Lovely drive to Georgetown if you forget anything. Thank you for the peaceful and serene experience, we loved it.

My pups and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay! The experience exceeded my expectations. We loved how much thought and consideration the hosts put into everything. The description was accurate and informative and the host was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the private river access. It was peaceful and rejuvenating; we will definitely stay here again! My dogs didn’t want to leave. We saw a few snakes, carp, raccoon and deer by the river but bugs were not an issue. Cell service (T-Mobile) was a little spotty at the river, not bad though. The outdoor shower was nice to be able to clean up after playing in the river with my dogs. Definitely check out the little farm stand while you’re there! There were fresh eggs and jellies for sale when we were there.

Had a great weekend! Hot showers, clean porta potty, and plenty of firewood for us to use! Owner was super helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the fresh eggs they sold that we cooked for breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Camp ground was very convenient for our family of 5. Kids range from 7-5 and they had a blast. The loved the swing tree, donkey, longhorns, and building a camp fire. The shower water was hot and the restroom was primitive, but clean and taken care of. Since this was our first time tent camping as a family I didn’t want to go far from home… we live in Drip and didn’t realize this place existed. We will absolutely be back in the future! Thank you!!

Weekend Trip to McDonald Farm

This is my second time hosting a retreat at the McDonald farm, I’ve never felt more comfortable with a host. Samantha goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is amazing. This weekend it was raining when we arrived and Samantha shuttled some of the guest over to us so their cars wouldn’t get stuck and helped them with their luggage. The other host upon arrival was extremely helpful as well and eased any concern I had with the weather before I even had to ask. I’m so grateful for their kindness and Samantha’s quick and easy communication. The land is so beautiful and literally my favorite spot out of Georgetown and other surrounding areas. I will never not go back to the McDonald farm, I can’t wait til next time !

Weekend Trip to Orrasis Ranch

I LOVED the Bait House! It was just the right size for a getaway with myself and my dog. I think 2 adults max would be comfortable here. It had everything I needed and more. The outdoor shower was a delightful experience. The only downside for me was they have chickens and roosters on the property and I was awoken by the cock-a-doodle-do before dawn every morning. The house was is located near a few parks so we were able to enjoy hiking within 10 minutes from the property. Downtown Marble Falls is also about 10 min away if you want local dining experiences, which I did grab takeout from 2 different restaurants while I was there. Overall it was a nice little getaway and great location!

Beautiful weekend in nature with hiking, happy farm animals, camping shenanigans. There’s an outdoor sink, potable water, and a regular toilet. There’s a very nice communal area with picnic seating/kitchen that’s lit by night with cute string lighting. My favorite part was the walk in the woods down to the river where we met the 600-800 year old pecan Mother Tree. Then at the river we waded, the doggies swam and everyone took a nap in the sun. We all love animals dearly, and i surprised the group with the mini-horse grooming. Snickerdoodle was looking so cute after we brushed out her hair!

We are now offering daytime river access to the San Gabriel River! This is a secluded, hike to spot for fishing, swimming, grilling, picnicing, and hanging out during the day. Access to our river site is included in your camping fee, or we offer day passes for non-campers! There is no overnight camping on the San Gabriel River. All camping is at the main farm area and campers are able to come and go from the river site as they please. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. Our gorgeous wildlife sanctuary is peaceful, full of nature delights, and away from the hustle and bustle and city lights. Our van spot is secluded and the only spot on the front of the 25-acre property. Nestled right by a pond (Grateful Waters) with a picnic table, it's an amazing place to camp totally privately and immerse yourself in the unbelievable Texas country stars + sunsets. This rural spot is a phenomenal place to watch and hear tons of nature: birds, turtles, armadillos, snakes, bugs, coyotes, rabbits and even some cows next door. Campers are welcome to enjoy the whole front forest and meadow near the camping spot (~5 acres) and wander the mowed trails throughout the front of the property. The back of the property is currently an animal sanctuary and artist residency. We ask Vanlife guests to stay on the front half of the property (away from the houses) while enjoying and exploring on their stay. NOTE: We currently are only accepting fully self contained vehicles for reservations - you must have your own toilet, water source, and trash. We are new to hosting, so we are starting small + easy. We are vanlifers ourselves, so we are so happy to be able to share this super private land with other folks who want to get away from the crowded RV parks and get some privacy. Birdwatchers Paradise. We are off a paved road, the site has an RV Pad that is 40 x 23 gravel that is mostly shaded. The site is surrounded by different kind of trees and cedar. We have birds and deer. The pad accommodates a 45 foot rv with a tow with slides on both sides. There is a place to park your vehicle. Wooded acres, deer, and tons of birds. The site has a 50 amps plug, sewer hookup and water. It is close to Lampassas, which has an HEB, 12 minutes and close to the Lampassas River. We are 10 minutes from Copperas Cove which has a huge HEB. Close to Austin, 1.5 hours. HEB, is 12 minutes away. Ft. Cavazos is 20 minutes away, Temple is 40 minutes away. We have a trash bin No open flames, you can have a propane fire and gas grill.
