The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. We always love our visits to Woody's place. This was our fourth year visiting and this time we brought my parents who absolutely loved it. We enjoyed our stay at Seco Ridge! The #1 secluded spot worked out well and was pretty private and quiet. We don't need all the common amenities provided but for those who do, its a nice option. There were a few times communication with the host was delayed, and while WiFi was available, the password was not posted. Otherwise, a great spot! Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely gorgeous area. I loved the ease of booking and getting to the campsite, and was very happy to see the chickens and a sweet cat when going to use the available restroom. Also was very pleased to see plenty of firewood at my site(since I chose the option to have it) thank you again! This was my second time here and I’m sure it won’t be the last :)

LAF Ranch felt like a little hidden gem of Texas. My wife and I ventured out here for a night. We had planned to go to Lost Maples to see the fall colors but decided not to go after seeing the beautiful bald cypress trees by the creek at LAF Ranch. The colors were stunning and the weather was beautiful, we had the whole Big Open campsite to ourselves so it felt like our own little oasis. Thanks to Fritz for providing access to such a wonderful location, and for being such a pleasant host! We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Get Your Frio On
We had such a wonderful stay at Frio on the River! We ended up having the whole place to ourselves, which made it peaceful and relaxing. The property is well cared for, easy to access, and close to everything we needed. Garner State Park was just a short drive away, and there were gas stations and small shops nearby. Kelly was absolutely incredible! She was proactive with communication and sent helpful pictures since we were arriving late after dark. She stopped by in the morning to make sure we had everything we needed, and she was such a lovely person to talk to. She made us feel welcome right away. On our way out, we discovered we had a flat tire and she even offered to help and gave us great advice about where to go. Her kindness really stood out and made the stay even better! Even with a burn ban in effect, we were still able to cook using the small barbecue grill on site. The amenities were great — clean restroom facilities, hot showers, and thoughtful touches around the property. We loved spending time on the porch swing under the big tree, playing horseshoes and tetherball, and visiting the chickens. If you’re more of a cabin person, there are plenty on the property for big groups! There is some traffic noise from the nearby road, so sound-sensitive guests may want to know that, but it didn’t bother us at all. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area. Such a warm, welcoming, peaceful place!

This ranch is in an absolutely beautiful location. We visited over the Halloween weekend with the native fall grasses in full beauty. At night we sat, had some wine, looked at the stars, counted satellites as they passed over and listened to the coyotes off in the distance. This is a great location to slow down and just get away.
