The nearest town, Menard, is about a 12 minute drive from the property and has a grocery store, gas stations, a couple restaurants, a pub and a bakery. Lovers of history might enjoy visiting the Presidio de San Saba, about 20 minutes from the farm, as well as the historic Pioneers Rest Cemetery in town. We have a Wildlife Exemption on the property and enjoy managing native song birds. We keep a constant flow of bird seed located in feeders around the ranch, and we have seen all kinds of birds making this a great place for birders. The ranch has nice elevation changes with a wet weather creek that traverses the property. There are some trails to hike or mountain bike. The cabin is rustic without plumbing or electricity, but we enjoy it and it's fun to think it's everything we would need. This is off-grid living all the way, and we are constantly learning new and better ways to do things. We just finished up our overlanding trailer and wanted to find a spot a few hrs away from home to test it out. While Texas really doesn’t have a whole lot of public land, we thought an RV park would be perfect for the first trip. Our neighbors recommended Mason Tx to us and this park came up and looked perfect! Well sure enough it was!! We were immediately greeted upon entry and the gentleman was incredibly nice and helpful! Got to our site (4) and it was beautiful!! Nice and quiet with a gorgeous view! We even had the same helpful lady who answered our phone call, come out and check on us to make sure we were all set before the super cold front came in! 10/10, will definitely be coming back!!

Very impressed with this campground. Went on the guided bird walk and learned so much about bird calls, how and where to spot them, and some interesting facts. The hosts are kind beyond words, highly communicative, and knowledgeable of their landscape. Their pup will come by to say hello and sometimes sleep by your campsite! If you want to stay up late to stargaze, listen to the river run, and have a great time then this is the hipcamp for you.

Place is awesome! I have been to this site and the other one here and both are fantastic. No one around you and very peaceful. Great way to sleep under the stars. I Cant recommend this place enough, it is great!

Weekend Trip to Dos Rios - Hill Country Adventure

I had the best time with my little family in our very first camping trip here. Everything was well kept the most beautiful views and scenic river. The evem owners checked on us and asked if we needed anything and I had rembered that our kids cot stayed behind and could use an extra one which they graciously brought by for kiddos. We loved the community feeling, yet still with had privacy and the convenient amenities. We will be back again 100%

Weekend Trip to Dos Rios - Hill Country Adventure

My husband and I both enjoyed our stay at site 2! The host was friendly and the campground was overall clean. There was a beautiful view of the river that provided a great place to see sunrise and sunset. The river was accessible, but by a hill so I would keep that in mind if you have difficulty with steep inclines. Clear, cool and clean waters! Little to no light pollution allowing for an incredible view of the stars at night. It is by a county road so there was some road noise but not frequent. We will definitely be back in the future!

Weekend Trip to Angela L'S Land

Did tent and car camping on Angela's land and appreciated how quiet and peaceful it was. The stars were out and the sounds of nature surrounded us. There was some light animal activity, as there should be in mostly untouched land, so be sure to hang up your trash. Angela was so hospitable. So were the more long-term residents at the front of the camp. We felt like we were in our own little oasis at our site but where the shower and restroom was was always very welcoming.
