We really enjoyed our stay here. Communication was great from the beginning and they were super hospitable to us during our stay here. We only got to spend a limited time here since we were there to visit inks lake and enchanted rock during the day. It was just a short drive to both and very convenient. Had so much fun trying to get pictures with the longhorns too. Hopefully we can come back and visit again.

We loved tent camping on Chris’ land! The amenities were excellent (electric, water, shade) and they had recently installed a nearby toilet and shower with hot water. Water access and hiking access made for great afternoon activities. Our dogs had a great time too. Thank you Hill Country Escape!

Surrounded by hill country nature. On a lovely lil creek . Listen to the Grape Creek critters where the coyotes sing you to sleep ! This is a perfect for a kicked back getaway. It's a working ranch so you'll hear Bossy cow and the gang casually chatting. As they're chewing the cud. Equipped with a comfortable seating area . An outdoor shower , water and electric. Catch and release fishing. Tons of birds and a gaggle of turkeys across the way. A friendly host with a welcoming smile . A grill , fire ring , tons of shade and couple of turtles for neighbors. We were at site 1 . I would advise a canoe or kayak for fishing as the water lillies are thick . Our stay was completely enjoyable and we look forward to the next visit !

We chose this location due to the serenity and dark skies for stargazing, but what blew us away the most was the host's hospitality! I can't say enough about the personalized experience my family and I had. We were truly treated like members of the family. I am recommending this place to everyone and we will absolutely return.

3 nights at Hill Terrace

This is a great place close to the riverbank. Nice walkway down as well as kayaks on site to use. Cabins are about 100 years old but have some updates that makes it nice to stay in. The host was great very helpful and quick to respondon, also has a guy that is next door if anything pops up. Beds were comfy and the patios are very nice to sit on. Would recommend to stay for a nice river trip.

Weekend Trip to Down Horn Ranch

We had a great time camping here. We were the only people on the entire property, so we had our run of the place. We actually ended up picking site #1 instead of #3. (The photo is of site #1). The property is big enough that even if all 6 sites were fully rented out, you would have complete privacy in whichever site you use. There's a bathroom & shower on the property which was nice & clean. It's a dirt road to sites 2-6, and I think for sites 4-6 you may be better off with a higher clearance vehicle and/or 4WD. You might be OK without it, but I'd say it's borderline through one little spot after site 3 where you cross a very small creek then drive up a hill. Overall this is a great property and I highly recommend it.

Had a great short tent camping trip at Downhorn Ranch! The sites were nice and private, really appreciated having a bathroom complete with shower, and observing the curious Longhorns made for extra entertainment. The host was quick to respond with any questions we had and we would absolutely come back for more nights under the stars.

One of the most beautiful nights of star seeing I've had in my life. On a night with clear skies this camp sight is one of the most beautiful I've ever been to. The hosts were delightful and brought a fire pit/s'mores and even let us rent an air mattress for the night. 10/10, definitely going to bring my family here for clear weather.

Weekend Trip to Brown Chicken Brown Cow Ranch

Michelle and her husband were fabulous hosts. They love sharing their beautiful land and hanging out with their three longhorns was entertaining. We felt welcomed, and encouraged to explore. We walked around their property twice a day enjoying the views and peacefulness. We took our hammocks and simply enjoyed “hanging” out and reading. We enjoyed the photo ops and visiting the surrounding area. Their place was immaculate and they are constantly doing more.
