Luxe Safari Retreat by the Lampasas

3 sites · Lodging5 acres · Kempner, TX
Step into the Heart of Central Texas, Where Nature Sings Picture yourself immersed in the soul of classic Central Texas, a place where the land's exceptional beauty converges amidst the serene embrace of ancient cottonwood trees by the Lampasas River. As you relax on your private deck, perched high above the juniper, pecan, and oak-filled valley, the very essence of the land envelops you. The choice is yours - conjure culinary magic on your suite's commercial induction cooktop, or be drawn to the primal allure of an open fire at the rock fire pit. And when the day surrenders to night, don't just look up; lose yourself in the vast tapestry of stars, for at Lost Horizon, they are an awe-inspiring masterpiece. Message us to get the latest on wildlife sightings and locations and river conditions. Life Flourishes in Abundance, Both Exotic and Native Here, life thrives abundantly, with exotic and native companions who roam freely, sharing their tales amidst the symphony of nature's melodies. As you drift into slumber, the coyotes' haunting serenades weave the dreams of the land, and with the dawn, the fervent chorus of birds and the graceful presence of deer awaken your soul. A Suite of Comfort and Quietude, Awaiting Your Arrival Satau, nestled within this expansive 1700-acre sanctuary, is your invitation to create lasting, meaningful memories. This well-appointed, heated, and cooled haven beckons to families, couples, and kindred spirits seeking an escape of unparalleled significance. The suite, cocooned in privacy and tranquility, is a testament to comfort. A Glamping Paradise Amidst Nature's Embrace The suite itself is a marvel, an insulated, heated, and air-conditioned glamping tent, elevated 6 feet above the earth on a splendid 26'x48' deck that extends a warm welcome. Every need has been considered, from the on-site EV charger socket to the abundant hot and cold purified rainwater, fueled by 95% solar power with the reliability of a power grid backup. Queen-size Helix mattress and noiseless frame ensure deep, restorative slumber. There's room for your guests too, with a full-size pullout sofa-bed and ample space for overland vehicles or tents on the property, allowing everyone to find their perfect retreat. The full bath unveils its magic with a shower and a generous soaking tub. The stocked kitchen, a delightful realm of culinary possibilities, boasts an induction cooktop, coffee and tea essentials, salt, pepper, olive oil, a water kettle, and a coffee pour-over set. Riverside Reverie: Your Private Connection to the Lampasas A stone's throw away, private access to the Lampasas River awaits, complete with picturesque picnic pavilions, where moments of connection with the natural world unfold. A Symphony of Silence and Nature Within the embrace of Lost Horizon, quiet reigns, as there are no public roads nearby. Here, a harmonious community of 18 different species of free-roaming exotic wildlife and abundant native Texas creatures coexist, sharing their secrets with those who listen. Explore, Experience, and Discover Fly fishing, kayaking, limited hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife encounters await, offering immersive journeys into the heart of this living tapestry. And when you yearn for modern conveniences, H-E-B Plus in Copperas Cove is just a scenic 20-minute drive away. [Update August 23] An enhancement to your comfort - we've upgraded to a 24k BTU MrCool Mini-split AC, specially designed to conquer the extremes of Central Texas weather. Your Private Retreat, Tucked Away in Serene Seclusion To clarify, the Satau suite, though not right by the river and the old cottonwoods, resides in a secluded valley within the ranch. The journey to the private riverfront is a brief 3.5-mile drive, still within the ranch's enchanting confines, eliminating the need to leave this captivating land and granting you unmatched opportunities to embrace the beauty and wildlife that grace Lost Horizon. One last thing, the only "chore" that we ask of our guests is to take the trash out of the tent and deposit it in the bin on your way out and that's only to help prevent critters from trying to get in! There's none of that long chore list stuff - you're here to relax, not work. :-) insta: @losthorizontx Interactive tour available on our website.

McDonald Farm

14 sites · RVs, Tents78 acres · Georgetown, TX
We are now offering daytime river access to the San Gabriel River! This is a secluded, hike to spot for fishing, swimming, grilling, picnicing, and hanging out during the day. We offer the river use as an add on for camping or as a day pass for non overnight campers. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. There is excellent bird-watching and wildlife-viewing opportunities on the property. We frequently see white-tailed deer, as well as other wildlife and many species of birds. There is road noise. Highway 29 can be busy at times, despite being a two-lane road. We also have neighbors, so we request quiet hours after 10 pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. Ask us about pasture-raised eggs, naturally-raised produce, and baked goods!

Bar4L Ranch '24 Solar Eclipse Event

251 sites · RVs, Tents300 acres · Lampasas, TX
Welcome to our family's ranch and retreat from the big city where we are hosting a 2024 Solar Eclipse camping event! We love it in the Hill Country and want to share our little piece of heaven with the solar eclipse enthusiasts or those who just want to get out of town to enjoy a family-friendly outdoor campout on a working cattle ranch. Lampasas is known as the Gateway to the Texas Hill Country where the bluebonnets and wildflowers are in full bloom in March/April. It is the prettiest time of year to come in for a visit! The Bar4L Ranch is a little over 300 acres of rolling hills with 3 small ponds and dry creek that runs through the property. We have about 250 acres of cleared grazing pastures for our Black Angus cattle and another 50 acres of wildlife areas that are heavily wooded. We have neighbors with high-fenced ranches on 3 of the 4 bordering fence lines where they raise exotics. If you look hard across the high fences, you may get a peak at a variety of exotic animals. The Bar4L is located in the Texas Hill Country where there are alot of old Oak trees, Mesquite trees, Cedar trees and cactus. The area is typically very dry with hard rocky soil that can be hard to dig into so bring appropriate tools if you need to dig into the ground for tent stakes. While visiting the Bar4L, you will surely see some wildlife other than the Black Angus cattle and our horse. You may see things like birds, armadillos, deer, racoons, jackrabbits, an occasional hog, and yes, even snakes and scorpions. We don’t see them often but if we do it is typically a rattlesnake. We will have a community area with Texas-style games like cornhole, hillbilly golf, and even learn to rope with a cattle dummy and depending on the number of bookings, we may have some food vendors/trucks. At dusk, we will have an outdoor movie under the stars. And you can’t have a campout without a large community campfire where you can bring your own guitar and stuff for S'mores! And don’t forget to do some star gazing while you are far away from the big city lights. To ensure everyone’s safety, we will have a safety team during the event and a nurses station for minor injuries. The City of Lampasas is a 15 minute drive from the ranch and the local law and fire departments have been advised of our private camping event in case of an emergency. We will also have some porta-potties stationed at the community area. Keep in mind, other than porta-potties, there are no public bathrooms or showers so it will be important for you to plan accordingly. Make sure your RV/Camper restrooms are in good working condition and you have plenty of fresh water in your water tank and your water pump works! Feel free to bring things to enjoy while you are on the ranch, like mountain bikes, fishing poles, horses, romping boots, binoculars, telescope, etc. Guests are welcome to bring their golf carts or side by side (Rangers, Mules, etc) but NO motor vehicles like 4 wheelers or dirt bikes are allowed. We ask that only licensed drivers (16 years and older) are in the driver’s seat of golf carts or side by side’s and drive responsibly for everyone’s safety. Family Friendly Activities: * Movie under the stars * Star gazing - bring your camping chairs * Fishing - BYO fishing pole * Canoeing * Hay rides * Community campfire - bring your own guitar and s’mores * Mountain/gravel biking (BYOB - bring your own bike!) on the ranch (small bike track) or on backroads around the ranch * Ranch-style games - roping, cornhole, hillbilly golf, etc - we will have some but we encourage you to bring your own games as well! * Food vendors * And possibly more (snowcones, popcorn, souvenirs, etc) Things to do around within an hour of the Bar4L: * Texas Legato Winery - less than 10 miles * Gutters and Putters in Lampasas (arcade and mini-golf) - less than 15 miles * Colorado Bend State Park - 25 miles * Hancock Golf Course - less than 15 miles * Longhorn Cavern State Park - 34 miles * Inks Lake & Inks Lake State Park (in Burnet County) - 35 miles * Lake LBJ (in Marble Falls) - 35-40 miles * Hill country bluebonnets and wildflowers - many miles of backroads with wildflowers * Reveille Peak Ranch (in Burnet) for biking, hiking, trail riding - 31 miles * Gravel Bike Ride - there are many backroads around us so if you are a cyclist, you could bring your bike. A gravel bike is probably best since these are country roads made with chip seal (soft asphalt overlaid with crushed stone aggregate) and some are even gravel roads depending on which direction you go.
