Camping at Boulderdash was absolutely amazing. We rented tent site 1 and our friends rented tent site 2 and it worked perfectly to have that area together. The sites were clean, quiet and had awesome amenities including the outdoor kitchen area to share with each other. This made washing dishes, charging devices and washing hands so easy. The river is beautiful despite being low and there is easy access to it. They are pet friendly as long as your pet is friendly and that's a huge plus. The hosts were so kind as well, they even put on an easter egg hunt for all the kids on site Saturday night. I can't say enough great things and will definitely be back.

Fantastic camping spot! We booked out both of the river spots so that we had more room and privacy. It was perfect! The walk up to the bath house wasn’t bad at all. Facilities were nice and clean and cared for. We didn’t use the WiFi. The sink and electric were very conveniently located. There was an issue with the outlets, but the hosts were super quick to respond and got us set up with alternate electricity sites in the meantime. Incredibly accommodating. Being next to the water was perfect! The dogs loved it. Plenty of flat spots for tents and parking. Beautiful site. I’ve camped quite a bit within about a 3 hour radius of Austin, and this has been the best! Loved it

2 nights at Sparrow Bend River Retreat

Sparrow's Bend is a treasure. The hosts have anticipated guests needs with a well kept camp including access to an air-conditioned bathroom and outdoor shower. We brought wood but ended up running low into our second night and they very conveniently keep a pile of firewood with a venmo QR code. We brought our paddle boards and very easily launched right out of camp, though the water is still very, very low. We were able to explore quite a ways in either direction and just had to carry our boards for little sections at a time. Really the best part of the river is right at Sparrows Bend where we spent most our time watching the sparrows and the fish.

We enjoyed our stay in the big cabin. It fit our family of 7 and we had plenty of things to do! This place was perfect for kids, even toddlers. We felt safe the entire time and the property manager was there if we needed anything. We’ll definitely come back, but with friends!!!

We had a full group out this weekend and this spot did not disappoint! The views throughout the property were amazing and the drive in was a site to behold. Fritz and Ken were extremely hospitable and welcoming. The property is beautiful. Looking forward to taking my wife out later this year.

Fantastic camping on some of the most beautiful land in Texas - this place seriously rivals all Texas state parks. Beautiful topography combined with natural springs and diverse wildlife make this ranch a must see. We saw quail, turkey, whitetail, red stag (including an albino), javelina, horned frog, bass, sunfish, etc. The landowner and his assistant were extremely helpful when it came to booking the reservations, driving directions and navigating the property. Also, there are no cattle on the property, which is nice when it comes to walking around (no landmines to avoid).

We loved staying in the Ultimate Privacy Jupe. We swam, fished, paddle boarded and explored all day. The river access was awesome and we enjoyed the site a lot. The bed was comfy and we stayed warm and dry during an evening thunder storm. We will definitely be back.

The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. The Ranch is our place we like to go when we need to get away. It's raw and it's nice land to camp, explore and enjoy wildlife. We have a Wildlife Exemption on the property and enjoy managing native song birds. We keep a constant flow of bird seed located in feeders around the ranch, and we have seen all kinds of birds making this a great place for birders. The ranch has nice elevation changes with a wet weather creek that traverses the property. There are some trails to hike or mountain bike. The cabin is rustic without plumbing or electricity, but we enjoy it and it's fun to think it's everything we would need. This is off-grid living all the way, and we are constantly learning new and better ways to do things. The cabin is located on the very first spot we pitched a tent after purchasing the land, and we continue to make improvements as we go. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
