Weekend Trip to Indian Blanket Ranch - Utopia Texas

We enjoyed the peacefulness of this quaint cabin with its unique features. The fenced yard was wonderful for our dog. The private hot tub was fantastic! Be sure to bring paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, condiments, bug spray, dish soup and other essentials. We explored the trails a bit, but the tall grass caused concern for our dog and potential snakes. It’s a great location away from the craziness of the river. Enjoyed Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia, Gypsies in Leakey. Hippie Chics in Concan was our favorite! Garner State Park is beautiful and popular so get a reservation way ahead of time. Looking forward to coming back to this gem in the future. Thank you to the owners.

We loved Boulderdash so much! It’s so quiet and peaceful. The water was perfect for the kids. The bathrooms were beautiful and clean. There was shade in all of the spots. We loved it so much we booked our next trip back while we were still there!

Boulderdash is a fantastic getaway. The hosts are just wonderful and so helpful. They have a little store where they stock ice and other stuff for sale. We camped here and the layout is fantastic, the amenities were absolutely fantastic. Great showers with a/c units inside and a decked out kitchen area to cook meals. The vibes were great, especially when the sun starts to go down, the lights and everything were just great. I’d definitely see me and my partner coming here again, it was a great and comfortable experience nestled in the hills.

What a perfect spot!! We saw so much wildlife and thought it was super quiet!! Great location and easy to get to both Fredericksburg and enchanted rock and like others said, potty was CLEAN!!!

For first time campers for tent camping this was freaking perfect! We enjoyed our time so much and it was amazing that they had the kitchen with all your needed tools and the the den was so fun! But we enjoyed ourself so much we are plnnninh to return with our friends!

We had such a great time at Site 4! This was actually the second time camping in that spot, about a year and a half ago my son and I stayed there, I loved it so much I reserved it again. The campgrounds are dense and laid out so well, we can setup and walk the dog around for a good distance, and the area is perfect for plenty of tents and gear. I know a lot of people leave reviews and make comments about road noise but honestly you adjust to it, and the sounds of nature are the real focus anyway. Also the port a potty is quite possibly the cleanest one I have ever seen, ha. Air fresheners and all, just watch out for wasp nests, I got a wake up call this morning from one just above the door, but hey they campout too 🤣 Can't wait to come back and try another site , thanks again James!

Unbelievably sweet experience. Host was caring and accommodating. The grounds were impeccably kept and stunning. The facilities were sparkling clean and beautifully crafted. Stayed in the RV since all of the A-frames were booked and it was equipped with everything I needed, including a little jackery so I was able to plug in and do some work. She really thought of everything. But I would say the best part was waking up to fresh complimentary (artisanal?!) pour over coffee and an outdoor shower. The bulletin board in the kitchen was also very informative about local happenings and things to do so I got the tip to stop at center provisions on my way out of town and stock up on treats! The only thing I would change is having been able to stay longer. Hope to be back. Really special

Our stay at Tent Site #2 at Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park was absolutely wonderful! Carol-anne and Lyn were amazing hosts—friendly, responsive, and super thoughtful. They provided helpful tips before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for a great experience. The site was peaceful and well-kept, surrounded by nature and just steps from the Medina River. Even though it was a short hike to the bathrooms, we were well-prepared thanks to their clear heads-up and suggestion to bring a tent potty—especially useful since we were camping with our child. We appreciated the attention to detail, from the check-in process to on-site items like firewood and ice. The no-visitor and quiet policies helped make the space feel safe and relaxing for families. We made some great memories here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the outdoors!

We absolutely loved our stay! We spent the weekend kid free celebrating our 13 year anniversary & couldn’t help but talk about how much the kids would have loved it! Will definitely be back sometime soon with the kids! Plenty of areas to swim or sit in the water and enjoy the absolute peacefulness of the flowing water and watching the sunset!

We loved camping out at Boulderdash! The campsites were clean and well maintained. There are amenities like freshwater, WiFi, and electricity available if you’d like, but it doesn’t feel like glamping. If you forget anything, Carol-Anne and Lyn have it handy. The riverside sites are a short walk to wading in the Medina river. The kids and dogs had a blast. Campers who come here should abide by the camp’s simple rule; don’t be a jerk. We’re looking forward to coming back as soon as possible!

About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. This site is suited to tent camping, car camping and small RV "dry camping". There is relative privacy, hopefully starry nights and campfire provisions. Guests share a pasture with livestock and wildlife. Weather in all its variations is part of camping. If you are not prepared to deal with whatever the weather may be, you should consider another option.
