Weekend Trip to Tipis on the Guadalupe

Awesome, family-friendly stay! All the creature comforts you need (plus even more than we are used to- a warm shower, towels and bedding provided, a well-stocked kitchen!) Campground is a short walk to the beautiful Guadalupe River! We had 7 kids across 3 tipis and everyone had a blast! The kids could roam safely around the campground games and grassy area while we cooked and relaxed. We can’t wait to go back!

“Fritz’s land is such a wonderful experience. Just the drive to the cabin gave us a surreal overlanding feel with fun river crossings—perfect even for beginners. The kids loved every bit of the trip. While we chose the cabin for access to hot water and power, we all ended up tent camping and had an awesome time. The land, the people, and the animals were all amazing. We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable getaway.

This cabin is perfect, tucked among tall trees, completely peaceful, and beautifully secluded. It’s the perfect place to unwind, enjoy nature, and feel truly away from it all. Can’t wait to come back!

We stayed here over Spring Break and had the best time! My kids said they wanted to stay forever, they said it was dreamy to have had the “biggest backyard in the world” The house it it cute and cozy, exactly like you can see in the pictures. Even though the river water was low, my kids were able to play there and we all made wonderful memories.

Fritz's LAF Ranch is a truly beautiful piece of Texas. We went there with our dog to have some solitude in nature and just enjoy the outdoors and our expectations were exceeded. The ranch feels like a place removed from time, as you are several miles off the paved road and surrounded by tall hills cut on the sides with dramatic sheer cliffs. We enjoyed hiking, swimming and all the traditional camping activities at the green cabin site, which has everything you need and nothing you don't. Fritz himself provided an outstanding stay with world class hospitality. We enjoyed the cheeseburgers that he made us, and he delivered a very generous portion of firewood to our site. The best part may have been the staggering amount of space we had access to and allowing our dog to run around free of any constraints. We hope to return to the Ranch one day soon!

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING Free firewood for use during your stay and can make a good deal if you want to take some home! As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls 3. big pond Please note all pictures taken on and of the ranch remain the property of the LAF ranch and are to be used for personal or promotional purposes only. From the outside, they look like real Tipis and the interiors are a comfortable and modern cabin with sleeping for up to 6 guests! Each is fully furnished and air-conditioned. They all have a kitchenette with a sink, a small dorm-sized fridge, a 2 burner stove, and a large toaster oven. They also each have a separate private bathroom with a walk-in tiled shower located next to the tipis. Outside, there are individual barbecues, picnic tables, and fire pits serving each cabin.
