About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Weekend Trip to Laf ranch

This place was great. It’s very secluded so get ready to get away. Bring most everything you need, you get a/c in the cabins, a fridge, stove, and out house. There are some basic cookware items but not a ton. The sky is impeccable at night, everything is quiet, and the fire wood is abundant. No fish which kinda stinks but the water is nice on a hot day. We only tried the water near our green cabin to swim with the dogs and it was low it seemed. Great place with dogs as they can be off leash. There are hogs around the area so be mindful at night. 7/10 for sure if you are looking to unplug.

Awesome, family-friendly stay! All the creature comforts you need (plus even more than we are used to- a warm shower, towels and bedding provided, a well-stocked kitchen!) Campground is a short walk to the beautiful Guadalupe River! We had 7 kids across 3 tipis and everyone had a blast! The kids could roam safely around the campground games and grassy area while we cooked and relaxed. We can’t wait to go back!

“Fritz’s land is such a wonderful experience. Just the drive to the cabin gave us a surreal overlanding feel with fun river crossings—perfect even for beginners. The kids loved every bit of the trip. While we chose the cabin for access to hot water and power, we all ended up tent camping and had an awesome time. The land, the people, and the animals were all amazing. We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable getaway.

Fritz's LAF Ranch is a truly beautiful piece of Texas. We went there with our dog to have some solitude in nature and just enjoy the outdoors and our expectations were exceeded. The ranch feels like a place removed from time, as you are several miles off the paved road and surrounded by tall hills cut on the sides with dramatic sheer cliffs. We enjoyed hiking, swimming and all the traditional camping activities at the green cabin site, which has everything you need and nothing you don't. Fritz himself provided an outstanding stay with world class hospitality. We enjoyed the cheeseburgers that he made us, and he delivered a very generous portion of firewood to our site. The best part may have been the staggering amount of space we had access to and allowing our dog to run around free of any constraints. We hope to return to the Ranch one day soon!
