Pets are welcome as long as they don’t damage home, chase cows, kill chickens or are dangerous to others. There is an extra fee for pets. Drive carefully on the dirt roads leading to the ranch; as deer are plentiful all around the property. Wildlife viewing is exceptional, with a wide range of animals typical of the rolling hills of Central Texas Hillcountry. The property has patches of open meadows speckled with hundreds of large, beautiful heritage trees including Live Oaks, Red Oaks, Cedar Elms, and Pecans. There are two small ponds on the property, with plenty of frogs and typical aquatic species providing a natural soundscape at night. Feel free to explore the site on foot or vehicles, but please keep vehicles only on existing dirt roads (no off-roading allowed). Feel free to use the RV hookup at the green metal building, and enjoy the stunning sunset views of the Texas Hillcountry from the elevated wooden deck connected to the building. Come stay on our 100 acre Richard Creek Valley getaway, gently tucked away on the north slope. There are four campsites on the property and they are all at least 150 yards away from each other. Each site is private. When the ground is dry there is access for all vehicles. When the ground is muddy, Brookside, RiverRock, and Richardson Creek campsites require a 4-wheel drive and have alternate routes to get to them. Ancient Oaks is an all-weather site. You can enjoy hiking and swimming in Richardson Creek when water levels permit. Canoeing from Bakers Crossing put-in which is only 3 miles away.
Some places to check out while you are here include Dinosaur Valley State Park, Dinosaur World, Granbury Historic Square, Stephenville Rodeo, Bakers Crossing River Put-In, Oakdale Plunge Pool, and BigRocks Park in Glen Rose.

This property is primitive with 132 acres of prairie land, trees, a pond, a river, creeks, and wildlife.
We can accommodate RVs, camper vans, tents, or people who want to park and hike to a primitive camp spot.
Campsites are to the left of the entrance near the road; however, there is very little traffic as there are few neighbors. We offer fire pits at each campsite with some included firewood.

This was an awesome campsite for 1-3 days camping.
We accidentally stayed at River Rock instead of Brookside. But we absolutely loved it. Family of 5 and a dog - nearest camp was 150 yards away and empty. The creek was great - you could swim and fish. Lots of wildlife - deer, beaver, armadillo, birds... This is a perfect site for a 1-3 day getaway.

Very unique spot. We had a wonderful time exploring and learning the local history provided by Johnnie. We had the place to ourselves and view of the stars was spectacular. It is primitive, but the directions and information provided was very detailed and helpful. The glimpse into the past and staying right in the middle of it was fun. The wooden block table was helpful for using a camp stove and identifying the tent sites.

Caretaker of property is available for anything but keeps to himself. His awesome dog Thor feels like a safe watchdog.
There is community property near so you may encounter that.
The history, structures and ability to explore them are really something to experience.
The property is covered with old oak trees that are unique on a whole other level.

Great tent campsite right on the riverbank—very private and peaceful. The host, Ted, is wonderful and really goes above and beyond. There are a lot of positives here, like free use of kayaks and canoes and even a late checkout if the site isn’t booked.
I love to camp and fish, and this place delivered on both. We caught crappie, catfish, perch, even a gaspergou—and a turtle. Being able to gather firewood and enjoy a fire by the river made the experience even better. My son and I had an awesome time and will definitely be coming back.

Very cozy spot that is easy to get to. Lots of open space and the creek next to camp is nice.
There are a ton of sheep and goats there as well which was cool! However they will probably get in your way but just wait and they will clear out and keep their distance.
Only complaint I have is the road and animal noises get a little loud at late night but it didn’t ruin the overall experience for me.
It’s also a good place to stay if you’re visiting Dinosaur Valley State Park since it’s only about 20 minutes away.
Overall I had a nice stay for a quick weekend get away, I can see myself coming back.

We were traveling with friends.
Originally we were in site 3 but we went to site 2 ( our friends in site 1) it was tight becuz we bothered in 42ft toy hauler 5th wheels.
Lakeside Cisco Rentels had everything we needed. The store was a plus. If ever in the area again definite return stay.
One thing it would be even nicer for longer stay ppl to have a small laundry room like in the club house.
