If you have more in your group, we recommend reserving an adjoining campsite. Sites 1, 2 and 3 are off the main path to the left of the property, and still by the creek. Smith Mountain Camping is located just outside of the Cherokee National Forest where there are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, forest roads perfect for Dual Sport motorcycle riding and overloading. Hunting and fishing opportunities abound in the southeast's largest wilderness area within sight of your campsite. We have 2 full hookup sites available for long term camping as well as 2 power and water capable sites that are perfect for the overlaners looking to explore the area. Bring your rig and your toys and enjoy the Cherokee National Forest! The road to our property is gravel and has some steep sections. We have had coaches and trailers of all sizes to our campground but be aware that the road is gravel with some steep climbs. We recommend any vehicle towing a trailer be all wheel drive or 4X4 and if your trailer is over 30 feet please contact us directly.

I cannot recommend this campsite enough. The sound of the creek flowing right beside the site was beautiful and made the entire stay feel calm and peaceful. The campsite itself was spacious, giving my dogs plenty of room to roam off leash while still letting me keep a close eye on them. I also loved having the island trail just a few steps away for easy exploring. It was everything I needed for a simple, stress-free camping trip that still felt secluded and quiet. Perfect in every way. I hope to visit again soon!

The Islandsite is probably one of, if not the most unique and beautiful campsites I’ve stayed at. Brian communicated everything we needed to know ahead of our arrival. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommend bringing everything you plan on needing before arriving as the road into town is quite lengthy.

This is a fabulous camping spot. The host is friendly and cordial. The location is convenient to necessities, i.e. Walmart, Lowes, Planet Fitness, etc. It's a working farm, so don't expect a quiet setting. While it is serene, there's lots of animals and the noises they make. It's awesome!

This spot was exactly the breath of fresh air I needed. The sites were beautifully maintained, the views were stunning, and the hosts were wonderfully communicative. I ended up extending my stay—twice! I even caught the northern lights during the solar flares, which made the whole experience feel magical. Sitting beside the creek was the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the day—it added a gentle rhythm to the whole trip. The location is peaceful yet close enough to town to be convenient. Highly recommend.

The location is convienent, well kept and pretty private. The port-o-john was immaculate!! Seriously, the creek was lovely, the site (#10) was perfect for us but I was most impressed with the port-a-potty. Someone takes really good care to keep it clean which is most appreciated for those of us who don't have bathrooms in our campers.

My family had a great time at campsite 11!!!!! Very private creek along the site!!!!!! Huge area to pitch the tent and fire pit and just great family time!!!!!! Lots of firewood to purchase and the cleanest porta potty I have even seen lol
