My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

The Appalachian museum next door and there are lots of places to visit close by.

This is a particularly good spot for trailers and self-contained camping. They have provided a very nice, large, level, gravel pad with a great fire ring. If you plan to sleep on the ground, the large gravel could be uncomfortable. The owl sounds and night sky were absolutely memorable!

Stayed one night in the dry camping area. Easy place to get to. Wonderful sounds of owls hooting and coyotes howling through the night. Bring about 3-4 inch of leveling blocks since the ground is has a slope to it. Ground is more level towards the street but gets steeper as you get closer to the trees.

His dogs are so sweet, they'll wander around but they listen well. It feels odd camping on the side of someone's driveway, however, youre within 12 minutes of a gas station and stores and it's so quiet! Would definitely recommend for a quick getaway with 4 people max. May be a tight fit for 2 tents. Definitely coming back!

We had a great stay! Very private but easy to get to. We love coming to Big South Fork area for hiking. This time did a hike at Colditz Cove State Natural Area down to the water fall there and also spent some time visiting historic Rugby TN. Had a great lunch and ice cream at RM Brooks general store in Rugby. Lori was great communicator snd made sure we had all info we needed before out visit. Hope to be back.

A nice quiet spot. We pulled in forward to have a view of the woods. It’s a long gravel driveway that did require a bit of leveling front to back. There is a relatively flat spot, big enough to unhook a tow car right before you get to the river before the site. Would highly suggest filling your freshwater tank rather than hooking up directly as the pressure is so great even with a water regulator, it still caused our toilet to leak and overflow during the night. Enjoyed a hike to the little Egypt waterfall aka triple falls in town.

There was a Chili Cook-Off and Halloween party going on while we were there and it was so much fun. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. We had a very relaxing and peaceful five-night stay at Patrick’s Point River Camp in our 21’ camper. This is a huge property on the Cumberland River in southeast Kentucky. They offer everything from remote primitive tent camping to FHU RV sites. Our Premium RV site on the river could benefit from more gravel but was located under shade mere steps away from the shower house. Access to the campground could be challenging for an inexperienced driver pulling a car behind an 45’ Class A, but the road in was fine for us pulling a small trailer. Bathroom and shower facilities were clean and had good hot water and water pressure. The real reason we’ll be back was the hosts Patrick and Angelica. We have never been made to feel so welcomed in the five years we’ve been camping. They have mastered the perfect blend of providing excellent service and giving their guests space. Eager to offer recommendations for adventures or eating establishments, we were treated like family. We highly recommend Patrick’s Point River Camp!
