We discovered this small homestead 18 years ago. It was built by a man preparing to go off grid, but he never did. In the intervening time, we became enthralled with growing vegetables, raising ducks, grazing sheep and hiking the hills behind us. Then Nicole discovered permaculture and began the process of changing the land using these practices. With our three dogs, cats, goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks and chicken (there is only one chicken), things can be pretty merry around her. There are aquaponics and hydroponics to check out for fun. Plus, Nicole is one of the region's only craft coffee roasters, so you are in for a treat if you come visit and like coffee because she tends to make coffee most mornings. Learn more about this land: Hang your hammock or pitch your tent in the back acres of a small homestead integrating permaculture practices. Hang out in our land for your whole visit checking out the holler we live in, dunk in the creek by the road, or drive over the hill to Center Hill Marine, or across the dam to Edgar Evins State park, or canoe the Caney Fork River! Sorry - No dogs please. Kayaking and fishing is also so close you can almost hear it - but you can't. Which is good.  Our property has a composting outhouse and the outdoor shower attached to the house has hot and cold water. We also have a nice, outdoor kitchen area to share that has a big sink and blackstone griddle. There is Wifi in the kitchen area and a plug for recharging devices. The camp site is a two-minute walk from the driveway and outhouse so be prepared to carry items in and take your morning constitutional walk.  We sometimes have homestead-produced items for sale. This is a functioning homestead, so we may be hosting an open house event, processing animals, or some other fun homestead happening activity during your stay.

We provide a rock fire pit and heavy-duty, cast-iron grill grate. You provide everything else, including drinking water and personal toilet waste bags if you plan to use our system. The hike-in sites come with extra seating.  Every guest must be included on your reservation, and adult guests may be required to provide identification. Thank you! COMMUNITY COMFORT STATION: There is a comfort station with an outdoor shower stall for hanging your own solar shower bag. The comfort station also includes a changing room which doubles as a private place to use your portable camping toilet. A toilet seat and bucket system is provided but guests will need to use their own waste disposal bags, available at most camping supply stores. The backside of the comfort station has a rain barrel (not potable) collection system for extinguishing fires. OFF-ROAD CONDITIONS:  Due to the primitive nature of our location, all reservations should expect hilly terrain and potential bumpy or some muddy road access, especially after heavy rain. We ask all guests to help us minimize impacts by driving with care. Vehicles with low ground clearance or low-profile tires are no longer permitted to use the off-road drive and must park at the entrance. If you want a campsite with the shortest walk from the entrance parking area, you will want to select campsite 5, 9 or 6. When the road is open during unusually wet periods, we recommend AWD or 4WD as a precaution. We are continuously working on improvements for our off-road drive. The Property: Located north of Cookeville in the rolling hills and farmland, our property is on Spring Creek, a state scenic river. Situated between two waterfalls and featuring over half a mile of river frontage to explore. Float, fish and relax listening to the cascading water. Perfect for bird watchers- blue and green herons, ospreys, hawks, bald eagles and more. You may spot the creek critters- minks, beavers, and otters. Various types of bass, craw dad's and minnows are in the creek. We operate similar to a state park. We are open to the public from 10am-7pm, peak season. We have other listings that are spaced so each of our guests has privacy. Please see aerial photo for an overview. We sometimes have small events (birthday parties, ect) at the pavilion. Please feel free to message us first, if you would like to see if there are any events during your stay. There are 2 restrooms centrally located at the pavilion. One bathroom has a shower with hot water, soap, shampoo/conditioner included. The restrooms are shared with our other listings. There are USB and regular outlets in the pavilion and WiFi. During warm season the outdoor kitchen is available as well. We also rent out a Suite which is located above the pavilion. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Pets are welcome as long as they are leashed and picked up after. Please note there is a gun range 2 hollers away and depending on the season, it can be heard from our property. Tent in the Trees Listing: Your tent site is built above the trail and overlooking the creek. The tent is equipped with a queen bed, linens, extra blankets & essential cooking gear. There is a fire pit with grill and griddles for cooking over wood or charcoal. Really, all you need is clothes, food and drink! Primitive Camp Site: The rustic camp site is DIY. It is 300' from pavilion, and 600' from Tent in the Trees. We provide a picnic table and fire pit You bring all the rest of your gear. Typically, you may park next to your campsite. No RV's, converted vans are permitted. If you have a very small camper, please message us to see if we can accommodate. There are no hookups, and no loud generators allowed. Our full-service marina features covered wet slips for boats of all sizes, boat and watersport rentals, a 24-hour fuel dock, tiny home rentals, floating cabin rentals, boat trailer storage, and everything needed for a fantastic getaway to the lake! This place was beautiful. We loved the paddle boats! Pros: Parking at the cabin Self check in with code Clean & comfy Responsive host Heater kept us warm Coffee & cooking utensils included Faucet, sink, & soap in the cabin Firewood provided Dog friendly Easy check out Only one con: We were not told that the attached shower room was shared by the entire campground (there are tent/rv sites around the pond), so we left our things in there. One of the friendly campers brought our stuff to us. Also the shower never got hot, FYI, but the little heater in there was great. We so enjoyed our stay and wish it could have been longer.

My boyfriend and I loved staying at this cabin site. The pond across the way was very beautiful. It was raining a lot during our stay here so we didn’t get to try the boats, but they look like fun! The accommodations like the shower attached to the cabin, cooking utensils, and coffee machine were all very nice. Thank you Randy!

2 nights at Glamping at Deer Camp Cabin

I can hardly express just how amazing our little vacation at Deer Camp was. My wife and I were blown away by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere we walked into. The photos on the website hardly did it any justice for just how truly wonderful our stay was. We had planned to explore the area, but instead spent our time at the cabin for our entire stay. Mitch and Lori were fantastic hosts and we can’t thank them enough for the care and love they clearly put into the place. They really went the extra mile to stock the place with everything you need and more. My wife and I are already planning our next visit!

Weekend Trip to Hannsz Hideaway

This loft perfectly met our needs for a quick, comfortable stopover mid road trip! The appliances all seemed new, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and our fur babies had plenty of space to move around. The host seemed experienced and thoughtful with little touches around the loft (ice in the freezer, shampoo in the shower, hot chocolate and mugs ready for a nice treat, tv on a swivel arm so you can watch from the bed, gate on the patio to keep your dog contained etc) and clear instructions for where to find everything and what to expect. The craftsmanship around the loft was also impressive (well built doors, countertops etc). We would definitely stay here again!

4 nights at The Falls at Sewanee Creek

Grant and his wife were wonderful hosts and offer several amenities that my girlfriend and I both said we’ll be back to enjoy someday. The glamp tent setup is truly breathtaking a great in between roughing it and glamorous camping. Grant took the time to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. For people thinking about this trip, I would say be sure to bring some steaks and charcoal to put on the rocket grill! It’s a really cool piece and cooks a steak to perfection. Other than that, flashlights are a plus as it gets dark early in the winter and there isn’t much lighting outside of the tent. Don’t forget to bring something fun to do around the campfire too since there’s a really cool Rock pit a couple steps outside the tent. S’mores, music, campfire songs, and games. You’ll want to find ways to be outside the tent if you’re like us. Speaking of, there are so many cool things to do outside of the camp! Grant gave us several awesome destinations to visit before we left and we got to each of them! All exceeded our expectations. From food, to sites, to sounds! I’d encourage everyone to explore Tracy city, Monteagle, and even Nashville is only an hour and a half away!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights on grants trampoline tent and it was such a different but beautiful experience, the tent area was very nicely set up, being able to hear the creek while going to sleep or just sitting by the fire was also very relaxing. Only downside was that it was extremely cold, I would highly recommend bringing an air mattress, sleeping bags, and lots of blankets to keep you warm. We went November 28th-30th. Grant and his wife were also out of town but they were still very helpful and sweet, they explained everything we needed to know about the area and gave us some trails to check out. Everything was beautiful and I highly recommend staying.

We only stayed one night at the tent but loved every minute! Grant called before we arrived to give us directions to the site so we would be prepared when we arrived in the dark. Everything was easy to find, just as he said. The trampoline was more comfortable than we expected! Bring extra towels in case of condensation. The area under the trampoline was perfect for food prep and hanging out. Above all, the waterfall was BEAUTIFUL! The short “hike” from the tent to the falls was easy for us and our German Shepherd to navigate. We had a wonderful time- can’t wait to return!
