We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.
I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.
I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience.

We build from the heart with blue prints and Deer Camp was a thought that started on the back of a receipt and grew into a 12x12 cozy cabin. We have 13 acres and we share with that Deer Camp. Only enough land has been cleared for structures so it's all wooded and every structure was built by us and is unique and one of a kind.
We are all excited to offer an RV site to park a camper or pitch a tent if you want to bring a couple of friends. There is a separate charge for this. This site does offer electricity but water and the bathhouse are shared. This site is only offered to your group and there will never be campers in that space while you’re there.

Great little spot for a night away with my 16 year old daughter. I’m a city person so loved that this wasn’t too remote but still private. They have everything you need to cook and relax. The bath house is nice and unique. Really enjoyed our stay and will come for longer next time.

Grant and Becky are the best ! They really know how to make you feel welcome, are very personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of their land they shared while staying in the treehouse. There is much to explore and experience with your stay, so much so, we plan on returning this winter! This was the best experience ive had on any weekend trip since my move to Tennessee. We absolutely loved it !!

We loved the quiet and the ability to soak up time in nature. The waterfall was dry at this time of year (not much rain in the area lately) but we still really enjoyed hiking down to the grotto area and the hollow is beautiful with or without the water! Nearby neighbors were audible but not loud, and there was plenty of tree screening between sites. The treehouse is rustic but comfortable - just what we were looking for to keep things simple and the rain-style shower was wonderful after a day in the woods. A haven for crafters!

If you are looking for a relaxing and perfect getaway with a waterfall, a porch overlooking a misty forest, and incredible hosts who are extremely welcoming, this might be for you. I spent 3 days with just my dog and it was magical. Reading and hiking, grilling, and napping. We were even lucky enough to enjoy a summer storm that made the patio area even more magical. Easy check in and check out. Can’t wait to visit again in the fall! BOOK IT NOW!
Just a heads up: There are some basic seasonings like salt, pepper, and some rubs there as well as some coffee, but if you are looking to get more creative with your cooking, bring your own seasonings.

Everything at this place was very clean and well thought out. We really enjoyed our time here. We both had high expectations coming into our stay because of the reviews but Deer Camp exceeded all of them! Truly the perfect middle ground of wanting to “stay in the outdoors” with all of the luxuries of a well done AirBNB. There are lots of hiking trails nearby which was nice too. We brought our dog and the hosts were even nice enough to have a treat bag waiting for him upon arrival. We only stayed for the weekend but I wish we booked for longer. Have already recommended to family and friends!

Love this place! Grant and Becky are the hosts, they welcomed me and my two Boxers with open arms. The Beech Treehouse was awesome, and they even made sure I had coffee for the morning. Don’t let the steep stairs deny you a completely comfortable nights sleep, BEST bed ever!!! Very quiet and peaceful… can’t wait to come back when it’s not a drought and the Falls are flowing. Fully stocked, so don’t pack anything but your sense of adventure
