Little Bone Cave campground is in the mountains of Tennessee with hiking trails and a beautiful view located on 16 acres. Polk, once lived - Peekaboo Meadows & The Big Red Barn are waiting to welcome you! Pull in, drive down the grass road and over the small creek, put it in park at the barn and go stretch your legs on the 4o+ acres surrounding. During the day, feel welcome to walk the serene meadows or take a cleared trail up the ridge to the treehouse! Don't be surprised to be greeted by all kinds of wildlife including deer, turkey, foxes, or our goofy, fun-loving Golden Doodle named "Shme." If walking isn't your thing, you are welcome to drive around (4wd recommended) to go scout out where you'd like to set up camp for the night. If you prefer more peace and privacy, there are two beautiful meadows to choose from which both reach deeper into the property. If you'd prefer the comfort of additional shelter, you are welcome to park and/or set yourself up at the barn instead (which is a little closer to the main road). There is power to the barn - providing light, 30AMP power for RV hookup, as well as an electrical receptacle that you can run your extension chords from. For the extra adventurous - you may want to take a hike up "Thornbush Trail," which follows the ridge right up the middle of the property and has beautiful views of both meadows to either side. Or, for a more direct route, take a walk right up our dirt access road to the upper ridge, where you can peek through the treeline for beautiful elevated views eastward toward Columbia. Our treehouse (in progress) is located right at the top of the access road. Though the treehouse has not yet been completed, feel free to climb the 20' ladder up the inside of the hollowed out trunk and pop your head out the top! It sure makes a great photo! Come back to the barn area in the evening to lounge in the hammock, hang out around the picnic table, or cook dinner and roast some marshmallows over the wood burning fire pit with cooking grill attachment (fireside tools & 1 bundle of firewood provided). One filtered and cooled 5 gallon portable Igloo water cooler will also be provided and placed on the picnic table outside the barn. One rolling 96 gallon covered trash bin will be placed inside the barn (please bag your trash). "Luggable Loo" portable compost toilet is also available for use inside the barn. Tho cell & wifi are spotty here on the farm, we will provide one walkie talkie during your stay for direct communication with the main residence, should there be any issues or needs that arise. On the flip side, privacy is respected and use of the electronics is completely at your discretion! For recreation (each within 15-20 minutes of the farm):   1. During the day, feel welcome to walk the serene meadows or take a cleared trail up the ridge to the treehouse! If walking isn't your thing, you are welcome to drive around (4wd recommended) to go scout out where you'd like to set up camp for the night. If you prefer more peace and privacy, there are two beautiful meadows to choose from which both reach deeper into the property. If you'd prefer the comfort of additional shelter, you are welcome to park and/or set yourself up at the barn instead (which is a little closer to the main road). There is power to the barn - providing light, 30AMP power for RV hookup, as well as an electrical receptacle that you can run your extension chords from. For the extra adventurous - you may want to take a hike up "Thornbush Trail," which follows the ridge right up the middle of the property and has beautiful views of both meadows to either side. Or, for a more direct route, take a walk right up our dirt access road to the upper ridge, where you can peek through the treeline for beautiful elevated views eastward toward Columbia. Our treehouse (in progress) is located right at the top of the access road. Though the treehouse has not yet been completed, feel free to climb the 20' ladder up the inside of the hollowed out trunk and pop your head out the top! It sure makes a great photo! Come back to the barn area in the evening to lounge in the hammock, hang out around the picnic table, or cook dinner and roast some marshmallows over the wood burning fire pit with cooking grill attachment (fireside tools & 1 bundle of firewood provided). One filtered and cooled 5 gallon portable Igloo water cooler will also be provided and placed on the picnic table outside the barn. One rolling 96 gallon covered trash bin will be placed inside the barn (please bag your trash). "Luggable Loo" portable compost toilet is also available for use inside the barn. Tho cell & wifi are spotty here on the farm, we will provide one walkie talkie during your stay for direct communication with the main residence, should there be any issues or needs that arise. Camper Vans or Small Pop Up Campers can use tent sites as long as the electrical consumption does not exceed 15 amps. All of RV sites have 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups. There is a dump station near the entrance to the campground for gray and black tanks. RV dump service is available for a fee if you would rather us handle that for you. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION: Located at 245 Durham St in McMinnville, the property covers 8 acres with frontage on the Barren Fork River. There is river access directly behind Smooth Rapids Grill and a short walk from the campground. We sell fire wood. We have a climate controlled bathhouse on site with restrooms and hot showers. Tent sites 14,15,16,17, and 18 have regular 15 amp electrical hookups. The other tent sites are primitive. Travel Trailers and RVs will not fit in tent sites. Camper Vans or Small Pop Up Campers can use tent sites as long as the electrical consumption does not exceed 15 amps. All of RV sites have 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups. There is a dump station near the entrance to the campground for gray and black tanks. RV dump service is available for a fee if you would rather us handle that for you. Learn more about this land: There’s river frontage for fishing or kayaking. We have a full service restaurant on site. Plenty of trees for shade and hammocks. Minutes from Cumberland Caverns, Rock Island State Park, and ISHA. 50+ miles of Class 1 moving water in the county perfect for kayaking with shuttle service to access points available. VERY IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE: We are a small campground that is centered around our kayaking business and restaurant. During our peak season (Weekends in May, June, July, and August and the three key summer holidays Memorial Day, 4th of July. and Labor Day), there will be heavy activity on the campground. Our kayakers park their cars and fill up the common areas until 5 PM then the common areas empty out for the night. Those nights also come with somewhat of a "party" atmosphere. We're kid friendly, but be aware of those peak times. Any other time of the year, it's mostly quiet and half full at best. We don't get negative reviews often, but when we do 99.9% of the time it's on a weekend in the summer or a holiday weekend. We want to set accurate expectations. If you're expecting RV resort type with tons of privacy, this will not be for you

Elisabeths cute little spot is great! Directions were perfect, we had no trouble finding it in the dark. She has solar lights that line the space, so backing in was easy. The site is level, has a picnic table & fire pit with chairs set up. It was raining for our stay, so we did not use either…but would have if the weather was nicer. Walked our dog around the property area and up the road in the morning, which was not busy. This Hipcamp was perfect for our roadtrip and one night stop to check out Nashville.

My partner and I made a last minute decision to go camping when our schedules changed. Patti was extremely friendly and communicative immediately when we made our reservation. I really enjoyed hearing from her. The campsite is not very far from Nashville and was a perfect getaway. The campsite has three guard dogs that are SUPER sweet. They were very playful with our 1 and 1/2 year old German Shepherd (who still thinks he’s, like, a 6 month old). We also felt very happy that these dogs were guarding us during the night. The road is somewhat close to the campsite but it didn’t have heavy traffic. This site was perfect for the three of us looking at a short, impromptu night away from home! The creek and birds were lovely to wake up to and we came home the next day cheerful and relaxed. We were at Site 2, but Site 3 also seemed great for a larger group.

We had another great trip to the Hostetler Homestead. The highlight is always the animals (goats, chickens, and turkeys, but also the barn cats and their dogs). We had a perfectly clear night that allowed us to enjoy the stars. We even caught the ISS flying over. Andy and Annie are great hosts and we look forward to more trips in the future!

Tent camping here was a breeze. It felt very secluded despite only being 15 minutes or so from Nashville. We did hear some faint traffic nearby but not a peep during the night hours. There were some people hunting way far off in the distant and we heard some rifles go off a few times during the day, but we didn't feel unsafe by any means during our stay. The site was beautiful, fully surrounded by trees at the top of the hill--exactly what I was hoping for. Speaking of hills, there is a pretty steep hill to get up, yes--but with 4WD it wasn't really an issue for me at all. The sites are first come first serve and there was only my fiance and myself plus one other family that showed up several hours later. They were far enough away that we could barely see them. There's potable water and a toilet a decent walk from the site, but we didn't use either so I can't speak to those. Our interaction with the host was very minimal since it's self check-in and check out, but we didn't need anything other than the directions that were provided (which were very easy to follow). Overall I'd highly recommend this site if you're looking for some seclusion but don't want to drive hours away from the convenience Nashville area.

I've been using Hip Camp for two years, and this was by far the most beautiful place I've stayed. I was met by the hosts who helped me back in and make sure everything was ready for me. Perfect level pad with full hook-ups. Only 2 sites, and I was the only one there. Very peaceful with a really pretty forest with trails behind my site. I highly recommend this location. I hope to come back someday!

Perfect balance between staying on a really cute site, with a rural feel, while also having rapid access to Nashville and all it offers (and it offers so much). Off to the side (and across a small bridge) from a really attractive home the site is both private from it and benefits from water and electric hook up. The campsite neatly marked by solar lights making an after dark arrival very straightforward. And while we never met the hosts their App communication was excellent. If pulling a trailer I would approach from the direction the hosts suggest, as the second approach option, as backing in off the road is made easier from this angle. Anyhow, perfect spot which we would use again.

My friends and I had so much fun camping on Faye's land. We were a group of 6 people and 4 dogs and booked 2 sites. We were fortunate enough to be the only campers that weekend. The sites are unmarked and there wasnt a clear separation of the sites (e.g. treeline) so we were a bit confused where each of our sites were. But seeing as we were the only campers, we set up camp on what we all presumed was one of our sites. I imagine if there were other campers with us that it wouldn't be as private since the sites are pretty much open. There are trees spread out sporadically but not enough to cover your view to another site. Faye was kind enough to leave us firewood and there were enough fallen limbs and logs on the ground to forage for more when we needed. Now onto the BEST part: the creek. The creek was STUNNING and the stream was super lively. All of us (and our dogs) LOVED wading and swimming in the creek. The water was so clear and refreshing to the touch. AND we spotted an otter swimming in it!!! Such an awesome and unforgettable experience! I would book with Faye again for another camping trip with a large group, especially if we are the only ones there :).
