Carl & Vicki's land is a working cattle/bison ranch that sits on the Dakota-Nebraska Eroded Tableland. It is a diverse landscape of canyons, prairie, streams and ponds. Carl's grandmother filed a homestead claim on this ranch in 1914. We are close to the Niobrara Scenic River, Smith Falls, Fort Falls, and Fort Niobrara Wildlife Refuge. Birding, hiking, stargazing and canoeing are a few of the activities for the person who wants to experience the peace and quiet of this beautiful landscape. This is just a little triangle of land on the edge of a small town with three full camper hookups. It is a convenient semiprivate location on your way to your destination. We are located “where the Badlands Begin” 20 minutes from the Badlands National Park. We are a tiny spot, 3 campers max, most likely just one possibly two campers, with a few trees, a couple pf picnic tables and a firepit.
Kadoka is a safe, quiet, small ranching community. There is a small grocery store on main st. It is open Mon thru Sat from 9 to 6. Main street is also home to the post office, a laundromat and a flower shop. The city bar with on and off sale options is also located on main street.
There is a subway and cafe ( the Sunset Grille) both located on the hwy 73 entrance to town.
Kadoka has a city park with a swimming pool, covered picnic area and children's playground . The pool is open weekdays June and July.
One last thing, Kadoka is a small town with volunteer fire and rescue teams. If there is a fire or car wreck, the siren will go off and continue until the volunteers arrive. It will stop, and you don’t need to do anything. It’s one of those things you get used to when you live here, but is a bit startling if you are not accustomed to it.

My son and I loved everything about staying here. Our campsite was great -- flat, soft grass, with an amazing view out over the refuge (including bison a few hills away) -- and the tour they took us on of the ranch and prairie was one of the highlights of it trip: meeting the bison up close blew my 4-year-old's mind and mine too actually :). Victoria and Carl are lovely people and great land managers. We can't wait to come back.

The view was beautiful! Although it is a ways off the highway most of the way was paved. The hosts were friendly and even provided us with fresh fruit. Be aware you are next to a cow pasture so flies may be an issue in late summer. The outhouse was acceptable. The water is via a hose which brought back great memories of childhood. The road leading to the property was actually well maintained and smooth going over the cattle guards. It was peaceful and not a person in sight. Was exactly what our group wanted. We had a great stay at Beaver Pond. Victoria and Carl were great hosts. Very responsive and accommodating. The spot is very remote, yet close to town and to Smith Falls. Beautiful sunrise both mornings that we were there and it cooled down nicely in the evenings. We had no problem pulling our OP15 back into a great spot south of the pond. Would highly recommend if you are traveling to the area.

The views from the site were absolutely beautiful! It was very peaceful. Victoria was amazing! She was super responsive. Would highly recommend staying here.
