Carl & Vicki's land is a working cattle/bison ranch that sits on the Dakota-Nebraska Eroded Tableland. It is a diverse landscape of canyons, prairie, streams and ponds. Carl's grandmother filed a homestead claim on this ranch in 1914. We are close to the Niobrara Scenic River, Smith Falls, Fort Falls, and Fort Niobrara Wildlife Refuge. Birding, hiking, stargazing and canoeing are a few of the activities for the person who wants to experience the peace and quiet of this beautiful landscape. Educational bison/prairie tours are available.

No electricity at the fire pot / picnic table.
There is a 120 volt outlet on the east side of the grain bin. You can park. Beside the grain bin if you want.

This is just a little triangle of land on the edge of a small town with three full camper hookups. It is a convenient semiprivate location on your way to your destination. We are located “where the Badlands Begin” 20 minutes from the Badlands National Park. We are a tiny spot, 3 campers max, most likely just one possibly two campers, with a few trees, a couple pf picnic tables and a firepit.
Kadoka is a safe, quiet, small ranching community. There is a small grocery store on main st. It is open Mon thru Sat from 9 to 6. Main street is also home to the post office, a laundromat and a flower shop. The city bar with on and off sale options is also located on main street.
There is a subway and cafe ( the Sunset Grille) both located on the hwy 73 entrance to town.
Kadoka has a city park with a swimming pool, covered picnic area and children's playground . The pool is open weekdays June and July.
One last thing, Kadoka is a small town with volunteer fire and rescue teams. If there is a fire or car wreck, the siren will go off and continue until the volunteers arrive. It will stop, and you don’t need to do anything. It’s one of those things you get used to when you live here, but is a bit startling if you are not accustomed to it.

Surrounded by beautiful scenery! The road back to the site is a little rough, which should be an expectation due to its location. Lots of room to get in and out with the camper. Friendly and helpful host.

My son and I loved everything about staying here. Our campsite was great -- flat, soft grass, with an amazing view out over the refuge (including bison a few hills away) -- and the tour they took us on of the ranch and prairie was one of the highlights of it trip: meeting the bison up close blew my 4-year-old's mind and mine too actually :). Victoria and Carl are lovely people and great land managers. We can't wait to come back.

Vicki and her Husband were great hosts. Extenuating circumstances led to a late arrival and they were so gracious. They escorted us to our spot and offered any support we might need. We will elect to stay again in the future on our long trip up to Alaska!

The land was SO interesting, with beautiful plant species varieties and great vistas! Victoria was so sweet and flexible with us, and she gifted us some delicious tomatoes from her garden. The hilltop was a bit windy but those sunrises were definitely worth it !! 10/10 would stay again (:

High elevation views and a peaceful environment. The host communicates very well and makes you feel welcome. There are no shade trees so plan accordingly. Very private and relaxed setting.

The view was beautiful! Although it is a ways off the highway most of the way was paved. The hosts were friendly and even provided us with fresh fruit. Be aware you are next to a cow pasture so flies may be an issue in late summer. The outhouse was acceptable. The water is via a hose which brought back great memories of childhood. Firewood was available.

We loved camping on Victoria’s land! Labor day weekend may have been cloudy and rainy, but we had a blast. We visited the falls and went fishing in the pond. It was great! Would definitely visit again!

What a perfect spot to escape life for a bit! Francis was very welcoming, the campsite was great… on top of a canyon and close to the river. If you want to camp out in the middle of nowhere, under the stars, with a great sunset, this is your place!!

Francis's land was a great find. If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend staying there. The road leading to the property was actually well maintained and smooth going over the cattle guards. It was peaceful and not a person in sight. Was exactly what our group wanted. Plenty of places to setup camp.

We had a great stay at Beaver Pond. Victoria and Carl were great hosts. Very responsive and accommodating. The spot is very remote, yet close to town and to Smith Falls. Beautiful sunrise both mornings that we were there and it cooled down nicely in the evenings. We had no problem pulling our OP15 back into a great spot south of the pond. Would highly recommend if you are traveling to the area.

We enjoyed staying the night on Jo’s land. The hookups were great for our 39 foot class A with 3 AC units. Jo and Gene greeted us, along with some of their visiting family members. We recommended getting off the beaten path to enjoy the quiet surroundings, friendly owners, and beautiful sunset!
