41mi from Spartanburg · 7 sites · Tents, RVs
Tellurian Family Campground offers conveniently located spacious travel trailer, camper, RV and tent camp sites with incredible views and access to a pristine mountain river. The property consists of 93 acres and 2780 feet (1⁄2 mile) of river frontage on the First Broad River. The First Broad River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Smallmouth and freshwater sunfishing is incredible on this stretch of the river and there are also opportunities for mountain river catfish. Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We are located in a rural setting in the foothills on the edge of the South Mountains Range, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for checking out our place! We are Jud and Amanda Wortman. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. We know it’s a bit different; that’s what we like about it. We think our place stands out and, after visiting Tellurian, we think you’ll agree it does too. 41mi from Spartanburg · 3 sites · Tents
If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! Check out our equipment package for two. We also sell firewood and rent tents, hammocks and other equipment separately. In addition, some toiletries and basic camping supplies are available for purchase. ***Disclaimer: Bigfoot activity has neither been confirmed nor denied.

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

This 5-acre parcel was part of a larger 17-acre tract/cow pasture that was for sale in the spring of 2017. We had moved to this beautiful quiet country road the year before after spending 15 years in the hustle and bustle of West Asheville. When our neighbor put the land up for sale, we jumped at the chance to protect our view (we live across the street) and own another piece of the heaven we have come to call home. This land has a creek running through it, and is in a quiet, rural, residential area that is a mix of newcomers and families who have lived here for generations. The property has a secluded feel to it while being very conveniently located to the wonderful hiking, mountain biking, and trout fishing this area is famous for. We’re also very close to cycle shops, outfitters, groceries, restaurants, etc. We love it here and are excited to develop our plan for this space. We hope you will love it here too.

This Property was purchased by Grandfather in the 70s  and then was passed to my Mother. In 2013 I decided to live life differently and start from the ground up building with natural materials and found materials. At that time I was fortunate enough to have the land passed to me and I started building a home for myself and to be close to my mothers home nearby. After achieving the basics I decided that the best use of this beautiful land was to create a place for people to relax and enjoy, a park like environment dedicated to preserving natural beauty and amplifying it through a permaculture lifestyle. 8 years later I am blown away at how far the dream has become a reality and love sharing my space with people from all over the country.

This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. A new two person wood fired hot tub and cold plunge is now located just off the steps of the treehouse. (Contact us if you’d like to reserve it during your stay. Hot tub is $40/first night and $15 each following nigjt) NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. The host generally blocks concert dates, however, it is worth double-checking with the host that there will not be a concert if you desire a quieter experience.

The area is also part of the isothermal belt so the weather is always better than the rest of the South or the Mountains. The land is about 1/2 pastures and the remainder are beautiful forests with trails, creeks and even our own waterfall. The animals and equines living here make the place even more special.

Free use of kayaks and a canoe on an undeveloped 18 acre lake is included when you camp here. Several miles of trails, dirt roads and streams wind through hundreds of acres which you are free to explore. The property has been owned by members of our family for 75 years or more with areas of it family-owned since the 1800's. A large portion of the property is dedicated to sustainable loblolly pine forests dating back to the 1980's. A significant area of the property is dedicated to native hardwood forest and has some of the oldest and largest white oak, poplar, elm and shortleaf pines in the upstate. The remainder of the property is pasture; home to Black Angus cattle. We look forward to sharing this unique property with you!

I first saw this property in 2009 and fell in love with it. The property is gorgeous and the land has a magical feel. Situated in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains we are in horse and wine county! The area is also part of the isothermal belt so the weather is always better than the rest of the South or the Mountains. The land is about 1/2 pastures and the remainder are beautiful forests with trails, creeks and even our own waterfall. The animals and equines living here make the place even more special. Learn more about this land: Tiny home cabin on 28 acre horse farm with creeks, woods, and incredible pasture views. Your cabin is set in a grove of pine trees with gorgeous views from your deck and inside the home. We are in the horse and wine country of Polk County. There are 5 wineries within minutes. We are 7 miles from the new and fabulous Tryon International Equestrian Center. We are just over 20 minutes to Saluda with awesome kayaking and tubing on the Green River, hiking, biking and ziplining too. We are excited to add that we now are part of the Art of the Horse tour through Our Carolina Foothills!  Imagine Equus Farm are the new proud owners of Mil Flores, a beautiful horse painted by artist Mary Tolles.  Mil Flores now adorns the front of the farm!   The cabin has 1 queen sized bedroom and 1 bath, plus a full kitchen, living room and dining area. You will have all of the comforts when you are inside with wifi, cable TV, a mini-split for heat and air conditioning, a fireplace and a dishwasher. We keep the cabins stocked with everything you will need for your perfect getaway. We feature high in beds and 100% organic cotton sheets. The cabins are new and stylishly designed. The property is private and quiet. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a home base for TIEC horse shows, wine tastings or a quiet retreat. You will see miniature donkeys, horses, goats and even a steer roaming the pastures from your cabin. We want your time here to be wonderful, so we have strived to create a peaceful oasis.
