Weekend Trip to Camp Moondog

Staying at Camp Dogmoon was an enchanting experience. The camp, situated right on the river, allowed for incredible views of the wildlife. We even heard beaver slaps on our second night. As I was leaving, I made a mistake and got my car stuck in the mud. The camp hosts quickly got me out of the mud and on my way. I would 100% recommend staying at Camp Dogmoon. It is easily one of my favorite campsites I have stayed at so far.

Land was great and clear for our trip. Felt secluded but a short drive to town if you forget anything, really the best of both worlds. Was very easy to navigate and the site was clean. Mike was super friendly and helpful the entire trip!

This was my first time using hipcamp. Based on my experience with this trip, not only will I be staying at Moondog again but I'll also be using hipcamp more. The hosts were great. They went above and beyond and provided help and advice whenever possible. They were also quick to respond to any messages. The location is great. You're minutes from stores for last minute essentials and downtown Greenville is a short drive away. You're right on the river and it feels secluded. We were at the far out and the site was clean. There is a hill but anyone moderately fit will have no problem with it and the hosts even helped transport our items with their four wheeler. I would highly recommend this place.

Weekend Trip to Camp Moondog

Great spot by the river! Very peaceful and beautiful with the river flowing past. Host greeted us and helped carry some stuff down to the site. It’s very private, but you’re not far from town. We were able to go into Greenville (downtown about 15 minutes away) to walk around town and get lunch and Walmart (5 minutes away) to get some supplies and ice. The river is about a 10 ft drop from the site, so maybe worrisome with kids but it prevented our dog from getting soaking wet. We climbed down for a little swim when it got too warm. Would love to come back!

Absolutely loved the peacefulness of Steve's land. The sound of the creek flowing at night really put me to sleep. Great place to swim too. Highly recommended to others.

Weekend Trip to Tellurian Family Campground

We loved camping here! Very quiet, private, well spaced campground. The owners messaged us morning of our trip to let us know our site was vacant the night before and we could arrive early. Definitely follow the directions provided and you won’t have an issue. There are multiple river access points which is very nice. The owner stopped by to tell us about watching the sunset from the ridge (on the property) and this quickly became the highlight of our trip. Gorgeous views and nice, clean campground!

Weekend Trip to Gold River / camp + cabins

We stayed for a weekend trip, and originally booked the bell tent. They were expecting some rough weather and upgraded us to the riverside cabin since they couldn't put the tents up. We loved the cabin and listening to the river while we slept. The room was cleaner than most hotels we've stayed in, and the bed was very comfortable. We definitely plan on making this a regular spot. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were nice and hot.

We had an amazing stay. It was incredibly peaceful and the location is very convenient. Close to anything you might need. The host Ken was great at communicating and even adjusted our stay when we needed. We will definitely be returning! Thank you very much for having us!

1 night at Waterfall camping close to CLT

Scott had fast response time. He was very nice! Feeding the chickens and goats was such a nice little addition! I have a 9,4,3,2 year old and let me tell you they had a blast. This was our first time camping and they were so good. We initially were just gonna spend one night but since they were so good we decided to stay another night. Luckily the night after wasn’t booked because he was booked up for the rest of that month. Our car also died because I was charging my phone and Scott quickly came to help us out! 10/10 stay

It was such an amazing first time experience. The views are breathtaking!!! I love the gravel trail down to the river it was so peaceful and easy to get to, I just know in the summer the river would be so good to get in . I also love that this location has a trailer with two bathrooms and a shower which by the way are super clean !!! I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back in the future. Thanks to jud for driving Erick around the area to see what more it had to offer. You definitely won’t regret booking here !!

This campground was excellent! Beautiful mountain views, a river to walk to, and spectacular sunsets. Each site offers full hookups and a fire pit. There is a nice and clean bath house and wood already chopped. The owner stopped by to bring us the cutest gift of fire starters with a picture his kids had drawn. We thought it was such a nice, personal touch and we love supporting family businesses. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the dogs loved it as well! We will definitely be back!

We had a great time. We loved having the animals come up to the fence and interact with us. The spot is not level so just know you will need leveling supplies. Loved our visit.

Great spot next to the river with facilities. There is still a lot of Hurricane Helene damage present. We tried to trout fish, but had no luck. Maybe next time....

Bigfoot Brook Campground

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! Legacy Acres is a 74 acre cattle ranch just ten minutes outside of South Mountain State Park in Casar, North Carolina. The land was used for crops and livestock since the early 1800’s and was passed down through the same family for 4 generations. It was sold to a new family in the 1990’s and many improvements were made, such as the creation of the large pond, additional livestock pastures, the barn and farmhouse. However, as the family members became elderly, farming became the too difficult and the land fell into disuse. In the spring of 2021, our family moved from the hustle and bustle of Charlotte city life to this place we now call our home. Our dream is to bring the land back to its original purpose of farming, and to raise our family here, living off the land and sharing that joy with others. In the near future, we plan to add many more animals, such as chickens, horses, sheep and also various crops. With this will also come improvements to the campsites such as toilets, paddle boats, picnic tables, and Wifi. We look forward to sharing this special place with you. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. Waterfall camping close to CLT

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

My property consists of a ridge running east to west with the access road running along the south border. the land slopes up to the ridge for about 300 feet, and then down to the river for about 800 feet. The south side of the ridge has a small pond close to the road. The rest is pasture, and an orchard and small vineyard. The north side of the ridge is old growth timber, and shady and cool. The two cabins are along the river. One is perched on a ridge over looking the river and the other is right on the river. The swimming hole is 30 feet from the lower cabin. There is room for a couple campsites along the river also. The south side of the ridge was a cotton farm decades ago, but was covered in timber when I bought it 12 years ago. The north side has been in timber for the known history of the property.
