The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

HUNTING/FISHING- The creek (Little Hickory Run) is stocked with trout in the spring! Our property is attached to 175 acres of public hunting land owned by Colins Pine logging company. The property and woods however are not set up for mini bikes, dirt bikes or ATVS and are not permitted to be ridden there. FIREWOOD-For now we are BYOW or purchase nearby at George’s Little Store in East Hickory on Route 62. There’s a cart and wheelbarrow provided to move wood right from your vehicle. I will contact guests if we decide to offer wood on site again. FULLY STICKED EAT-IN KITCHEN- The updated kitchen includes large pantry shelves because all you will need to bring is your food! I’ve got the rest covered. From the little amenities like spices and cooking spray to the Keurig and coffee pot; it’s stocked! Blender, crockpot, dishes for 11, pots and pans and more. The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

An absolute gem of a site. The cabin itself had everything we needed. Was already warmed up for us upon arrival on a snowy evening and held heat well throughout our weekend. Ben gave us a great hiking recommendation that we took advantage of and it was just what we were looking for. Enjoyed our evenings by the campfire and morning coffee on the steps by the river. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. We are already planning our next trip out here!

Fantastic property! We rented the tree cabin but the tent sites also looked great. All the amenities you could ask for while still being rustic and private. We visited for our annual fall leaf peeping trip, but we fully intend to come back in the summer--we are excited to take advantage of the cute little pond for swimming and kayaking. Would highly recommend!!

I booked the tree cabin to surprise my boyfriend with a one-night-getaway for his birthday, and we absolutely loved our time here. Liam did an incredible job with communicating important info via Hipcamp messaging, and he created a beautiful, serene atmosphere at Muddy Myst that made our stay wonderful. Everything was clean, private, and beautiful. We really appreciated the bathroom & common area amenities. We had an amazing stay and absolutely will come back and recommend to a friend. Our dog loved the adventure, too!

HIGHLY recommend! Great location, not far from civilization but far enough away to get a BREAK! The Nest is a cute/comfy little cabin with everything you need! Even a crockpot which was great to have dinner cooking while we were out fishing! My favorite part of the location was there is no service or WiFi, you truly get to unplug and get away from the devices that take over our lives on a daily basis. Plenty of movies to wind down the night with. Ben and Ginny are great hosts, Ginny walked us through and told us everything we needed to know. The bedroom has air which was very helpful on the hot nights and kept the entire cabin cool. We were warned about a pesky little bird but didn’t have any issues nor did we have many concerns because we did put ourselves in the middle of the forest with the expectation we might encounter some animal friends!! We will 100% be back to the Nest! Hopefully a couple different times in the next year!

Muddy Myst is the perfect relaxing getaway! The treehouse was cozy and inviting. Even with all the rain at night, we slept peacefully with the windows open. The magnetic screen door was a nice addition to keep the critters out. There are clearly marked trails around the campsites and “Hank’s Hangout” is well stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, filtered hot/cold water and a nicely kept bathroom with a shower next door. Our dog loved the beds outside and inside the treehouse. Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality, we cannot wait to make a trip back!

Ben, and his mom Jeannie, were great hosts. The only negative is that I didnt stay longer. They really made it feel like home. Ben had a little book of the history of the property and recommendations for the area. I ventured to Kinzua Bridge State Park and Hector Falls, but nights by the fire and creekside were perfect too. Hope I can make it back next year

This was our second time staying at Ben's and it was perfect. The river was low so we were able to walk and cross without issue. Water was perfect temp to cool down and just relax. We found the stash of seasoned kindling this time so it was much easier to start a fire with the mountain of firewood provided. Spent our days exploring and popped in one of the many DVDs before bed. Location is great. Can't wait to go back.

Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. No running water or flush toilets on sites unless in your self-contained camper. A compost loo provided. Lots of kindling can be easily gathered for a fire. Consider ordering some ahead of time if it has been raining though. There is a tarp and a wheelbarrow to collect logs and kindling and move to your site.

Drink coffee on the gliders and catch a glimpse of wildlife in the woods. From intense badminton matches to rounds of corn hole, this is the spot! There’s a small table for happy hour sips and snacks under the glow of the front porch string lights. The large firepit surrounded by the creek and trees bring guests together for cozy nights under the stars peeking through the tall pines. HUNTING/FISHING- The creek (Little Hickory Run) is stocked with trout in the spring! Our property is attached to 175 acres of public hunting land owned by Colins Pine logging company. The property and woods however are not set up for mini bikes, dirt bikes or ATVS and are not permitted to be ridden there. FIREWOOD-For now we are BYOW or purchase nearby at George’s Little Store in East Hickory on Route 62. There’s a cart and wheelbarrow provided to move wood right from your vehicle. I will contact guests if we decide to offer wood on site again. FULLY STICKED EAT-IN KITCHEN- The updated kitchen includes large pantry shelves because all you will need to bring is your food! I’ve got the rest covered. From the little amenities like spices and cooking spray to the Keurig and coffee pot; it’s stocked! Blender, crockpot, dishes for 11, pots and pans and more. There is a large table in the kitchen to gather around for game nights and meals. Or enjoy a picnic on our outside table. Gather your crew and set out on a new Pennsylvania Wilds adventure!
