Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs is a lounge/studio area. Note that the bedroom is accesses via a ladder type staircase. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit. If you're allergic, this isn't a good option for you.

We are just a few miles away from Dorchester Lake where you can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Enjoy our family friendly cottage with two bedrooms that each have a queen bed and 2 sets of single bunk beds. The cottage is heated and cooled with 3 different mini splits, which are located upstairs and downstairs. Our cottage features an open living/dining room and kitchen area. The large covered deck with a ceiling fan allows you plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the scenic views of our 60 acre property of woods and farmland. Set back off the road a bit, you will drive back our stone driveway up to the cottage. You can enter in downstairs or walk through the grass just a bit to enter in upstairs. I loved my stay in this cabin; everything was beautiful with the snow and very cozy. The only thing is that I went at the beginning of winter and it was very cold. If you're looking for a place without internet and want to be away from the city, it's perfect for you.

Great place to stay! Russ is a kind and patient guy I got to the campsite really late and still he met me there and showed me where I was gonna be staying and I really appreciated that! Lots of hiking and scenery, great patio on the back of the cabin, comes with a fridge and microwave for any food you bring. There is no insulation so whatever the temperature it is outside it will also be inside, except in the summer there is a window unit, and it’s a tin roof so rain is extra loud on the roof. Other than these things I would recommend anyone stay here for a weekend of solitude or a family getaway!

What a wonderful experience we had at Camp Earth Connection with the Tiny Cabin! Eshay was great in showing us around, showing us how the tiny cabin worked, and all of the little intricacies. It’s such a peaceful and quiet place to relax and listen to the sounds of nature. We especially enjoyed waking up each morning to all of the crows we could hear calling to one another. Not far from Ithaca either or many State Parks and trails. Wi-Fi was great to have as there was no cell service for us (Verizon). Would definitely stay there again!

4 nights at Camp Earth Connection

My grandson and I ejoyed four days at the storytime cabin. It was clean, attractive, and well equipped. I am 6 feet two inches tall and slept comfortably in the large bed. My grandson slept well in the bunk bed on the other side of the cabin. It was convenient to have the minifridge because I had to keep insulin cold. The desk, chair, lamp, and electric outlets were another nice convenience. Clean bathrooms and showers were perfectly only about 30 yards away. An outdoor kitchen sink and covered picnic table also helped. Peace and quiet were in abundance. Nature amazed and was beyond words. Camp Earth Connection is a wonderful break from the stresses of life! We took several hikes on trails in the adjacent state park and enjoyed the changing colors of the foliage. The trails were well-marked. A mother deer stopped to observe me and then walked off unimpressed. Her two fawns soon followed her. Other guest across an open field were quiet and respectful. Simple clear rules ensured the few guests did not intrude on eachother's enjoyment of nature and the facilities. I highly recommend Camp Earth Connection for an outstanding peaceful experience with nature in peace. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this place. It is very peaceful and clean, perfect for resting and disconnecting. The surroundings are beautiful: watching the sunrise over the lake, the sunsets, and the bonfires at night made the experience unforgettable. The nature around brings peace and energy, ideal for relaxing and reconnecting. The hosts were very attentive and always available for anything I needed. You can feel the care and dedication they put into maintaining the place, which makes you feel welcome from the very first moment. Weekend Trip to Naturalists’ Campfire Collective

We absolutely loved our stay at this camp. It had everything we could possibly need, from kitchen utensils, pans, silverware, a cook stove, an outdoor kitchen, a sauna, lights, water, incredibly comfortable beds, a bathroom and all the other creature comforts. We ended up bringing way more than we ended up using, we very easily could have showed up with a cooler and our clothes and not needed anything all weekend. It’s only 15 minutes from downtown Ithaca, so it was very convenient to go out on the town or to any of the surrounding natural beauty in the area. We absolutely loved being visited by the three cats on the property as well. We will be using this camp again and again and again. Aurora and Chris are excellent hosts, making sure we had a heavy duty wagon to get all of our gear to camp, and making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a relaxing and low stress camp where all you have to do is show up and enjoy, this is the camp for you.

Weekend Trip to Elk Creek Escape

We had a fantastic Labor Day weekend in Cubby 1! It’s a very cute little cabin with a comfortable bed, back deck with a gorgeous view, and a nice little fire pit out front. Everything was super clean, and it was furnished with a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, Keurig, and a few other kitchen appliances. No running water in the cabin, but there’s a spigot right out front with potable water. They also have a window AC and a space heater inside, which definitely helped a bit during the night when it was cold, even though the cabin isn’t insulated. It’s a huge step up from our normal tent camping, but still rustic and close to nature. We loved our weekend here and will definitely be back!

Staying at a yurt was a different experience altogether! We’ve never glamped but I do think it’s along those lines…. Nice clean space with basic amenities and clean shared restrooms and hot showers! Literally all that you can ask for when in the wilderness!
