Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

Visitors can watch bald eagles and osprey as you enjoy kayaking, fishing and nature at this primitive campsite. We have just one site. Our campsite is very private and includes a fire ring, a picnic table a trash can and a swing. Parking is available right at the site. It's just a 2 minute walk to the northernmost kayak launch on the East Branch of the Clarion River. Here you will find a public porta potty for use during the summer only. Thanks for checking us out! We purchased our 20.5 Acres of land in the 1970's. We lived in a small dwelling and lived off the land for years; with a large garden and small farm animals. Now, our property has become our retirement sanctuary, for us to use with our RV. We developed 2 RV sites with full hookups, including 30, 50 Amp and 110 electric. There is water and sewage hookups, at both sites. We would like to share this sanctuary with others, who would appreciate it. You can book 1 site or add the second site at the extras section, in check out. We are only renting to one party at a time. You will have the campsites to yourselves. Our property is one mile from Cowanesque Lake, where there is fishing, boating, and swimming. You will enjoy wildlife, on our property and in the surrounding area such as deer, bald eagles, various birds, hoot owls at night, and others. It is also within driving distance from the Finger Lakes and wineries, Watkins Glenn, Corning Glass Museum, Leonard Harrison and Colton Point State Parks, Hills Creek State Park, Mansfield University, Tioga Boar Hunting Reserve, and the adorable town of Wellsboro. There are no lights on our property and is very dark at night. It is best to arrive during daylight, for easier RV hook up. However, due to the darkness, stargazing is spectacular. We have been able to see the Milky Way, at times. There is only one other home visible from the campsites. Enjoy!

Plenty of woods and fields to wander through. Days are filled with wildlife. Turkey & deer that hang out in the lawn, peepers and even the coyotes at night! We also have a handful of Eagles that can be seen pretty often too! We offer wooded and open area hiking around the property. The property is located in the quiet hills in New York's Finger Lakes Region. Just 20 minutes from Keuka Lake and 25 to all the shopping and dining experiences that you could ever want in downtown Corning along with hundreds of NYS breweries and wineries to enjoy during the day. Their are several nearby rivers and lakes to canoe or kayak, hiking trails all over the region and even in our own backyard! We hope to see you soon! Sites #1, #2 & #3 can easily accommodate any type of camper (tent, trailer, van, RV, motor home, etc.) These sites could be booked for more than just 2 campers. Please contact me if you have a larger group. Site #4 offers the best view! However it is close to our house so if you want more privacy we recommend staying at one of the other sites. But their is plenty of room here for a larger group. Site #5 is secluded by itself on the far side of the field on the right hand side of our driveway. The best way to get to it is to take the road to the end of the field. You will find an vehicle accessible path next to the tree line.

Towner's Country Paradise started out as a wild forest and pasture for cows in the 1940's, owned by Llewellyn Towner. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. Close to Pine creek gorge, not too far from Watkins glen to check that out on a day trip. Super private but close to lots of necessities. Gorgeously maintained property. Easy pull in with my little 18 foot camper. Lots of room for pups to play. 10/10. Highly recommend

We loved camping here. Marie and her family were extremely accommodating & friendly. The campsite is awesome. It is secluded and there is allot of area for your exclusive use while camping here. My daughter loved watching the cows play. The outhouse provided was spotless and the outdoor showered is really cool. Some unexpected added features were the provided hammocks, and welcoming packet that included chicken food to feed the chickens on the farm. I almost hate to leave this honest review - because I want the site to be available when I want to use it. Lol. We will definitely stay here again. (Hopefully very soon)

Wendy and Dennis have a great site in Lawrenceville. We had our pick of two different spots and had the whole place to ourselves. It is located on a quiet road close to Cowanesque Lake and some very nice hiking trails. The sites were level and well-maintained. They were kind enough to provide a charcoal grill and firewood for the fire pit. The hook-ups were fantastic, with options for 20, 30, and 50 amp. This is a great place to set up base if you plan on visiting the area or are looking for a place to stay if you pass through on a longer trip. We would highly recommend it. The stargazing is also incredible!

Weekend Trip to Calm Mountain

This is a really nice spot for a camper or two! The location has great hookups, sits back far enough from the road, and there were no problems with bugs or anything while we were there. There are lakes and rivers to access with boats and kayaks. For some quick hiking, I’d recommend the Stephenhouse Trail. Go on the Tioga river 🛶 and then stop at Jones Cones 🍦. Just a really great spot for a care free easy going stay ☀️

4 nights at Calm Mountain

Wendy and Dennis's Calm Mountain camping was wonderful. The location was easy to find. It was just a short drive down a paved and slightly narrow back road, but there was no traffic and no issues maneuvering to the driveway or turning in and getting set up for our stay. Water, sewer and electric hookups were placed well and we had no trouble there. The property is beautiful: well maintained, 2 level sites to choose from, quiet and serene. It really was dark after sunset. We saw amazing stars at night and listened to the birds all day. We saw a few deer and watched the moon AND sun rising over the mountains. The picnic table was a nice touch. The stone campfire ring worked well, but next time we will bring a rack to cook over it. This is a great place to use as a base camp for exploring or even just to stay and relax. The location was great for exploring Tioga and Potter Counties and was just a short road trip to New York (Cornell and the Finger Lakes). Wendy helped with recommendations and the communication was great. We will definitely return and hope to bring friends along to camp in the second site. Thank you so much for hosting us!

Weekend Trip to Calm Mountain

We have been to Calm Mountain several times and it just keeps getting better. Level site, great hookups and the lot is big enough to hook and unhook our Jeep from our 36’ Class A. It’s the perfect peaceful private place to unwind in nature, but also a great location to bike the Pine Creek Rail trail, explore and hike the PA Grand Canyon and gorge nearby. Great hiking, and so much to do! We are so grateful that these amazing hosts share this beautiful Calm Mountain.

This campsite is conveniently located making it easy to find and access. There are two level gravel sites that are a decent size with full hook-ups. Across from the campsite is a small grassy field. The property itself doesn’t offer much to explore, but if you’re just looking for a quiet place to rest for the night, it serves that purpose well.
