In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

Highly recommend this clean, well maintained camping spot. With only 3 sites it is peaceful and quiet. Owner is friendly and brought us flowers and fruit. Perfect spot to explore Elkton and the coast. Large sites and lots of shade. Beautiful creek a few steps away with wildlife.

2 nights at Dancing Creek Farm

Ron was wonderful host! We loved camping at dancing creek and would consider staying again. We stayed here on our way from Portland to Crater lake. We requested camp 1 but since both sites were avalible for our duration ron recommended we check out site 2 and see if we would like it, which we did. The property is massive, we saw(and dipped in) the creek, ron's garden, and a meadow up the hill. The view from the medow was spectacular. One of the best parts was just chatting with ron he made us feel welcome and was just a really cool guy. Also we got to see the cows just before we left.

Beautiful property right on Paradise Creek! Easy to navigate with my 17’ travel trailer. Would highly recommend. We saw a black bear walk up the creek-wonderful wildlife, birds and minnows fluttering in the creek. Just follow the directions and it is easy to find!

This is a beautiful camp. There’s a water hole for summer dips. Handcrafted fire rings. Cute cows and calves sometimes. Beautiful walkways for hikes in the woods. Blackberries in the summertime. The Host Ron is kind and personable, very hospitable. I was privileged enough to get a tour of his glorious garden, greenhouse and orchards. But didn’t take pictures of that as I wasn’t sure if the gated private area was for public viewing. Every time we visit it’s an adventure on this amazing Hipcamp property. Thank you Ron!

We had the most wonderful girls trip! It was the perfect balance between giving us the “getting away from it all” vibes of a good camping trip, while still feeling safe and not too isolated. The grounds were charming and it was fun to watch the horse, goats, and “Hamburgler” wander around the property. The facilities were clean and we felt pampered by the sauna after our shower under the open sky. Heather & Nathan were the nicest people and we joined them for breakfast on their tree-top patio one of the mornings we were there. The food was amazing (better than what we would have had in town!) and we highly recommend asking them about their travels — they have some great stories of their adventures! They are knowledgeable about the area and helped us find a really cool spot to take out our paddle boards when we were worried about the wind on the Coquille River. All of these details culminated in a trip that was exactly what we needed and we’re already talking about making it an annual pilgrimage!

This campground was incredible. Peaceful campsite with access to a beautiful creek that my dogs had fun playing in. Only 3 sites makes this Hipcamp live up to its name. We also enjoyed the RV hookups!

Site 2 on Ron's property (right next to the creek) was idyllic, quiet, and private. It was a bit of work to back the trailer up to the flat spot at the end, but it was well worth it for such a tranquil, beautiful setting. Ron is a very gracious, accommodating host. We highly recommend both Ron and Site 2.

We loved camping here! Heather is an incredible host and this property is thoughtfully laid out and well cared for. The campsite was awesome. We were in our campervan and it was perfect. The composting toilet is very clean and the outdoor shower is really nice. We were on a trip for mountain biking. Whiskey Run is not too far from the property and it's nice that you pass through town on your way to the trails if you need to grab groceries or a coffee, etc. The animals at Heather's are adorable and we loved sitting out with them each evening. (Even though we have goats of our own!) We will most certainly be back.

What a gorgeous site! The grandsons played in the pristine creek and we set up badminton in the field. The host even set out a vase of flowers on the picnic table for us! Direction in Hipcamp were incorrect, the host met us and guided us in.

Loved the space that we had at this campsite, very peaceful right next to the creek. We had trouble finding the location because the Hipcamp link is not accurate (should rely on the address instead) but we called the camp host who was willing to drive down to the highway to help us out; she was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Nice open field for running around or badminton, and quite a few entries to the creek. Beautiful property, felt private, we had a blast!
