5 nights at Kilchis River Retreat

My extended family (4 grown children, spouses, 3 toddlers and 2 dogs!!) enjoyed using both of the sites on Sarah's property. What a special place!! A delightful little cabin, beautiful scenery, SO many amenities (hammock, clean porta-potties, tables, campfire, crab pots for rent, the list goes on and on) and I have NEVER met a more responsive and accommodating host. Having both sites was ideal for our large group - but on the final night I was there by myself in the remote tent site and that was DIVINE. Quiet and peaceful; frogs chirping, birds singing. I can't wait to come back!

Nice large tent with weather proof material and covered deck. The farm animals are great to see everyday and to hang out with. The Large tent is not too close to the barn, and feels secluded due to the hill and trees. There is plenty of space in the tent to move around and relax. I would stay here again.

We loved staying in the yurt, the accommodations were simple and perfect, a great place to unwind and unplug! I saw some reviews before we came that made me a bit nervous, but after experiencing the place myself I had to share the positives. Before booking take a moment to READ DEN’S DESCRIPTION fully so you know what to expect and how to prepare appropriately! The composting toilets were clean and pleasant, and the shower gets so wonderfully warm! The wood mat on the floor keeps everything clean too. The kitchen is a real plus, basically an industrial kitchen setup in a rustic hobbit worthy setting. It rained on our last morning there and listening to the rain while sitting under the metal roof was as idyllic and picturesque as it gets. We also appreciated talking to Max about the farming side of things, and his help restocking the propane! We are already planning a return trip with friends 💜

Weekend Trip to Elkenmist

Rustic yurt camping at Elkenmist was very relaxing and enjoyable. Having the outdoor kitchen and hot shower were awesome amenities. We stayed in May of 2026 and at that time, the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. There was a refrigerator and two gas stoves, one with an oven that I couldn’t get lit, a sink with hot and cold water, and lots of tables and chairs. Getting to the property was super easy and the directions that came with the reservation directed us right to the yurt. There was a campsite fairly close but we are not opposed to having neighbors. Overall it was a fun and relaxing trip.

1 night at Los Helechos Glamping

Ingrid's glampsite is so unique and solitary. It's set deep into the side of a hill and hearing the wind blow through the trees is so peaceful, nearly haunting. Getting to the site is a short walk down a steep hill so make sure to tie your laces well! The amenities are very, VERY nice and it's almost like a home away from home. We were greeted by some friendly deer in the clearings on our last morning so that was a nice touch. Ingrid is a great host; her kindness and warming presence will encourage you want to keep this site in your heart. 5/5 stars.

Weekend Trip to Kenanna RV Resort

The cabin was cute. The bed was comfortable but we put a pillow top mattress pad on top due to back issues but would imagine it would be comfortable without it. The fridge was perfect for keeping stuff cold that I usually hate putting in a cooler like eggs, milk, fruit and veggies. The microwave was nice for heating stuff up. The couch that turned into a bed was also comfortable for our kid. The camp was quiet and the grounds well maintained. The outside was nice. They have a fish cleaning station, really clean restrooms and showers. Showers were 3 minutes per quarter and were plenty hot. The garbage was within walking distance. The camp hosts had different events through the weekend (memorial day weekend) including lawn games, karaoke, and a chili cook off. Which was fun with having our kid with us. The playground was close to the cabin but far enough to not hear the kids playing. The staff were even kind enough to get me first aid supplies for a cut I got while cleaning crab. I would absolutely recommend this place and return to go crab in westport. The only issue that we had was that the toilet wouldn't flush properly due to a septic tank needing pumped. The staff were super apologetic and offered a discount for a future stay for the inconvenience.

I have nothing but lovely things to say about my stay at Brian’s cabin! Such a simple and functional space, it felt very clean and straightforward. Comfy furniture & they had anything you’d need for basic cooking. Shower was lovely and there were space heaters available for use, lots of space for my dog to sniff & explore. Brian was friendly and all instructions were very straightforward and easy to understand. Incredible stay, especially at its price point. I would recommend to anybody as well as go back 😌

Was a lovely spot to camp! Lots of table space and seating. Sarah was very friendly and welcomed us when we got there but gave us privacy the rest of the trip. The Kilchis was lovely! It is right by a road that folks go down but it didn’t bother my group at all. Relaxing time nonetheless.

This was a very beautiful place! 6 out of 5 starts highly recommend! Instructions were clear. We had a very informative welcome introduction from Brian to go over the grounds and cabins uniqueness. The cabin is tucked away from view of the main house which provides a cute romantic little bubble. Very pet friendly, excited to bring my dog on the next go around. They provided a fun variety of games and some good old CD classic music. So glad they had a selection of coffee since we forgot ours lol

Weekend Trip to Kilchis River Retreat

We had a fabulous time at the cabin. It was exactly the peaceful retreat we were looking for. I loved listening to the rain through the trees all night and the sound of the river. There is so much wildlife to see too. A beautiful place to visit if you’re looking to get away for awhile. We especially enjoyed the eclectic collection of dvds and watching the chickens roam around the property. Looking forward to visiting again.

The cabin and grounds were absolutely lovely. We needed some relaxing downtime and this fit our needs to a tee. It was great to hike around the trails behind the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and has everything we needed to cook our meals. We have a a very shy reactive dog and she had a wonderful time with so much isolated space. We will definitely return.

The property is expansive, quiet, and beautifully maintained—220 acres that actually feel untouched. The open fields at sunrise with mist rolling through are unreal, and the river access is perfect for a peaceful reset. What really stood out was how private and intentional everything felt. You’re not just “camping”—you’re stepping into a space that lets you slow down immediately. It’s also incredibly dog-friendly. Ours had the freedom to roam, explore, and just be dogs—something that’s hard to find in most places. And Marc, the owner, was outstanding—super responsive and answered every question within seconds, which made the entire experience seamless. If you’re looking for a true disconnect from noise and crowds, this is it. Not flashy, just done right.

Would highly recommend this spot. It exceeded our expectations. The views were amazing and it was so peaceful. Our kids loved running around and meeting the farm animals. The baby lambs were the cherry on top.

We had such a great time a year ago we went again! Sarah and Mike have made upgrades which were great although we didn't use the hot tub. We are planning hopefully to go back in July when it's hotter so we can get into the beautiful river!

The whole family had a wonderful time checking out the river. My daughter was excited to see that they had movies to watch when it got dark. We even had the chickens come by to visit us during our stay.
