Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington. It's home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River with a swimming hole, & a short distance further to the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, a container of water for each site.

Willow Tree Cabin rests next to a large willow tree on this property. Just down the road about a half mile north there is public access to the Elochoman river which offers swimming, fishing. 2 miles south there is another public access which offers the same. There are also many Canadian geese that land in the field which we encourage you to hunt because they compete with our cattle for grass. If you hunt you will have exclusive access. We also have a gate in our field where you can gain access to a gravel road surrounded by forest where you can horse back, hike, rec vehicle ride hunt or just explore. There is a designated atv dirt bike riding trail at the top of beaver creek road which is approximately 8 miles away.
If you are into bigger water the Columbia river is just 5 miles away. There is a marina with boat ramp, a local brewery and groceries all within walking distance from the Cathlamet Marina. Kayak Rentals also at the Marina. If you are into a beachy feel, head west on SR4 about 10 minutes and visit Vista Park in the town of Skamokawa. Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington. It's home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River with a swimming hole, & a short distance further to the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, a container of water for each site.

Willow Tree Cabin rests next to a large willow tree on this property. Just down the road about a half mile north there is public access to the Elochoman river which offers swimming, fishing. 2 miles south there is another public access which offers the same. There are also many Canadian geese that land in the field which we encourage you to hunt because they compete with our cattle for grass. If you hunt you will have exclusive access. We also have a gate in our field where you can gain access to a gravel road surrounded by forest where you can horse back, hike, rec vehicle ride hunt or just explore. There is a designated atv dirt bike riding trail at the top of beaver creek road which is approximately 8 miles away.
If you are into bigger water the Columbia river is just 5 miles away. There is a marina with boat ramp, a local brewery and groceries all within walking distance from the Cathlamet Marina. Kayak Rentals also at the Marina. If you are into a beachy feel, head west on SR4 about 10 minutes and visit Vista Park in the town of Skamokawa. Beautiful beach with beautiful nature trails. cabin has all eating and cooking utensils.

Camping at Hidden Pillar is a primitive, off-grid experience:

Wonderful little slice of property! Directions are clear, setup is simple, lodging is as advertised. We loved our stay in the little A frame cabin - clean, cozy, comfortable. We rented a buddy heater to keep warm & it worked great, only needed it for about an hour. Nestled the two beds together to make one large space. Used wagons to help transport goods down to the cabin & were grateful they were available. Host is responsive and kind - swapped some farm goods for some shellfish & gave us good hiking and local event info. Great stay!!

I stayed in the A-frame cabin in the woods and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I needed a retreat to get away by myself and reconnect with nature and this was well beyond what I expected. Kyle took great care of me upon checking in and Sydney offered me a dozen farm fresh eggs that had just been harvested! I left after three days and two nights a brand new person!!! Thanks :-)

We had a wonderful time at Brian's cabin! It was clean and comfortable, and the toilet and hot shower were so appreciated! It is truly like being alone in the woods because it is so quiet. We loved playing Scrabble and listening to John Denver on the CD player. Our dog enjoyed the off leash walk up to the water tanks and back - Brian has a gorgeous property. It was a perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to come back.
